I just finished reading Lady Tan's Circle of Women (fiction of course, but fiction always leads to greater research for me) and that + my time working at a holistic clinic has made me so interested in eastern medicine. It's fascinating to me how so much of what they did worked, and they attributed it to spiritual reasons for lack of a better understanding, and how so much of it didn't work, or was even harmful, but continued to be practiced because of superstition. The history of western medicine of course is little different. And what we're left with after separating practical science from superstition is so extremely cool.
