Having to use your GPU to correct a show's dark balance because things are shot as dark as possible now so if someone's TV/monitor/projector/etc isn't balanced the exact same as the editing department's they can't see a thing .

#can't even be bothered to put in a secondary light source that only serves to highlight things so it's not a giant black blob #got should have been a wakeup call not an example of how far to push it before it's too far #audio isn't much different #if you don't have the exact same setup and/or don't have gear that lets you tweak every channel (or haven't put the time in to do that)#things swing from too quiet to blowing out eardrums without touching volume control #switching to digital has helped with many things but film also hindered the worst instincts directors/editors had #want to shoot something dark? you better figure out lighting first #much less of this 'we'll fix it in post' crap
