My Funger Termina HC (pt 4)

So, if in the last posts I've talked about sexuality and trauma, this is the time for Levi! (bc he's my favorite lol)

So first, he didn't have any sexual education. He did saw people get laid but prehevil was way too puritain to even say the word 'sex' without it being absolutely outrageous. Probably one of his older comrades once explained a little bit of anatomy (barelly basic) and how sex works when Levi was 13-14 years old.

He knows very little about STD, at this point is almost a miracle that he doesn't have HIV because of the needles.

He's a virgin. He literally grew up without any women around and no money for hoes. The nurses of the army or any woman in a close town were definitely too busy and not interested in either, a child or a junkie. If he didn't got laid with his fellow soldiers (in which he probably wasn't top) he just never did anything with anyone.

Levi is extremely shy with women (and people in general, canonically) the kind of boy who (without heroin) would blush easily and never catch a hint, or any joke if we go to the case. If you say something like "oh you're so mean, I hate you!" Playfully as a joke, he would definitely feel not ironically bad.

When he was a teenager, he felt very guilty every time he tried to masturbate. In prehevil that would be pure degeneration and he would be sent to the director office in st. Domek (he would be brutally punished, if not worse)

And now that we are in theme, he also can't get hard now that he's an adult. Heroin, constant stress, depression and withdrawal and above all, his horrible social skills that would make him nervous... Yeah, you get it.

He has a lot of acne scars and scars in general. Very noticeable dark circles (due to not sleep or sleep very little on hard surfaces) and probably he's terribly scrawny because of the child malnutrition and the lack of hunger of the opioids and nausea of the withdrawal.

He smells... Weird. Sweat of the withdrawal, dirt and blood of whatever we can call the things in prehevil (and dried blood for much earlier than the festival) he probably hasn't showered in a couple of days since I doubt he deserted and just think "oh well, let's take a bath before risking my life" so greasy straight back hair and smell of hormones like a good late teenager with a late hormonal development it is... He's still tolerable compared to the smell of the other locals of the town.

However, he's not ugly if we ignore all the early facts. He's quite tall and has an overall nice psychic, he's a soldier, he obviously has some muscles (principally in the legs, the main reason why he's alive is because he's good at running) he's slightly tan because being on the sun of battlefield but anemic like Daan, samarie and caligura (and everyone who barely eats)

Olivia mentions in the demo that Levi is "kinda cute" so I don't think he's a 10 like marcoh or Daan but definitely a solid 6, a 8 if he was in a healthy form.

He keeps scratching his track marks and all over his body because the withdrawal hitches, it eventually has leaden into a small infection and a reproach from Daan.

He's 179cm tall and Czech.

so is Marina but Levi is closer to the local culture since marina hasn't spoke Czech since she was like twelve (because her mother insisted to sent her to the Vatican (Italy) to study ocultism. Saving marina from the risk of his father seeing his puberty and masculine traits developing) and anyways marina was a rich girl pretty much ashamed of her city. unlike Levi, who grew up with the other poor kids and orphans and later, even with the soldiers of other countries, he was still surrounded by other men of his country in the army.

He probably still has the mentality of the army (although he hates that and try to reject all the brainwashing) he's typically homophobic, and probably slightly racist with other Europeans who used to be the enemy. Just a normal 1940's European guy completely adoctrinated even as he tries to run away from the army and the violence.

He does wear a dog tag, not his but the one of a orphan child soldier that he was particularly fond to because he remembered to Levi's young self.

He tried to protect him like a little brother but the kid was sent to a suicide mission and all that Levi could do was taking all the dog tags of the other children sent to die and giving them to their families. The one he wears was the only that he could sent to no one

He doesn't really believe in all-mer anymore but he sometimes pray. he's used to go to mass on Sundays, just because it was way more comfortable to sit an hour or two and listen to pure bullshit than to do whatever the general wanted from him in punishment. He doesn't even sleep at mass, just die of boredom because he's still fearful of the punishment of sleeping in 'the house of all-mer' as the priest called the old parrochia of the orphanage.

He's also tried to smoke to use the right of 'smoke break' but never catch the habit, he just exchanged his rations of cigarettes for money or other things.

He's not illiterate or particularly dumb (not the smartest man in the party either) but he's pretty bad at reading and doing complex math. St. Domek wasn't a good school and he was taked out of the school way too early.

Funger headcanons part 11 (god this series is getting long)

First off some regular group headcanons.

I think after Le'kill himself left the girl with D'arce and everyone else most of them had NO IDEA how to take care of child except for Ragnvaldr and possibly Nosramus, I think they were probably given the girl when she was like 2 or 3 so pretty young and she has NO IDEA who her real parents are.

Where does every work in the modern Au I guess I'm making now.

Cahara would say to be an erotic dancer as a joke but I think he wants to either work in Finance or something to fix damage buildings or help children in broken homes.

Celeste would still work at the brothel until Cahara gets enough money to buy her, I think she'd become a computer scientist or something related to machines.

Enki would work either at a library or as a writer cause in this universe the skin bibles or fiction books.

Ragnvaldr would do just about anything like walking dogs and odd jobs around town cause that's just who he is.

D'arce probably works as a fencing instructor with a history obsession.

Nosramus just has money, don't ask why.

Backstory's in this Au fr fr.

Enki is still kind of the same his family treated him like shit, loved his sister more than him and all that and probably treated him poorly so one day he just left and never came back.

Cahara grew up poor and basically had the uncle rdr2 backstory, growing up on the streets by himself from a young age doing anything to get by which would explain his hyper sexual behaviour and generally how weird he is.

D'arce is just a rich bitch who's deeply in love with Le'gay (I forgor her backstory).

Ragnvaldr would still lose his family but it'd probably be from something a bit less brutal (I have no idea how less brutal) like a house fire or a car accident, all I know is that it'd be very traumatic and unexpected.

Nosramus is just a silly guy.

Now this is the end of part 11 but part 12 will be out soon with some funger 2 headcanons, also I was thinking of doing some OC posts comment if you want those cause I would love to do them.

termina is anachronistic of course, so i am allowing any holes to thrive comfortably

i place his age during termina at 33 and his enlistment in his teens. i play around with him enlisting at 16. this would mean 17 years of service, which makes sense for a lieutenant colonel. this would also mean he enlisted sometime in the late 1920s when doing so voluntarily was possible and when kaiser was rising to power.

pav is the funger equivalent of belarusian. this is because i know more about belarus than other former soviet nations, and i am more comfortable writing what i know. (he speaks russian in one of my old posts, and i wish i could change it) this headcanon is also why i was very happy to draw pav in vyshyvanka for anon

we know that pav lost his family through an invasion during the first great war; belarus was invaded by germany in WWI, and many lives were lost.

youth and family

i believe pav's parents had him when they were older, and that he has an elder sister who left home as soon as he entered adolescence. his friends and relatives lived in the village with him. he spent his childhood roughhousing with his male cousins. the women he knew best were older women with traditional worldviews he had disdain for and a hormonal teenage sister he did not get along with. with these combined factors in mind, he developed sexist attitudes in his youth.

pav was easy to get along with as a child. he was brave and adventurous, even if he was not very talkative with strangers. he was happy with his village & the forests that surrounded it. he didn't really dream of travelling beyond. his teen years were soured by the great war and he underwent a transformation into a jaded and disconnected person. because, really, he would have gone crazy otherwise

i think it makes sense for him to be raised by worshippers of alll-mer but that his family's religion isn't very relevant to his upbringing besides sundays at the orthodox church and of course it fostering some core tenets of his worldview. as religion does. i do believe if this was the case, he would lose faith during the war or at least would not hold back his criticism of the religion.

gender and sexuality

there is a joke on my blog that pav is aroace. i did this because i am aroace. i do not believe it is true for him, but i do think he would have an aversion to sex & romance and that his behavior in the game is performative and caricaturistic. so that's where the joke comes from.

i believe pav is a cisgender man with attitudes typical of the time and a strange flamboyant flair that he easily abandons under duress. his sexuality could really be anything; it isn't very relevant to his character overall.

Hi friend! Hope doing this in asks is okay, I saw your post about needing some Thoughts on Funger characters for your comic so I wanted to help out :3 I'm sure you already know about all my feelings on Pav and Karin so instead I'll yap about Marina and Daan if that's cool! I just find it interesting how their views on religion contrast each other (with Marina being an occultist and Daan's past with Sylvian) and as Daan goes on about how he dislikes it (in the church I believe) he says the line 'If your happiness relies on the shoulders of others, then you're screwed', in which Marina goes quiet afterwards. And while it could mean nothing, to me that gives me the impression that she took it personally. Maybe she's a people pleaser and she felt called out? Who knows! Also adding to Daan's dislike of the Gods/Sylvian, when they're at Sylvian's Square and Abella tries to bring up how suggestive the fountain looks, he gets very short with her ('Yes. We get your point'). Usually he has something sarcastic or witty to say, so to be that blunt to someone as nice as Abella tells me that he was VERY uncomfortable and eager to leave. Idk, I just thought that stuck out to me. Meanwhile while Marina is at the square she's just like 'oh yeah fun fact there used to be a brothel here lol' completely unbothered, what a queen haha

Okay okay okay but Daan and Marina (and O’saa, but this ain’t about him) are my religious trauma family fr fr!!!!

I’m so invested in how they both grew up in super religious households and how they deal with the effects of that differently. Because while Daan is very obviously negative when it comes to religion, especially sexually religion (for obvious reasons), Marina is cheerful but insults it at the same time, almost like a coping mechanism?

Plus, Marina is especially interesting because she’s literally in school studying magic and religion. She probably feels trapped, like who would she without the church and Alll-mer? And and and when looking at a photo of her dad, she mentions how the lineage has to end, but she doesn’t make any comments about what she’ll do instead.

I think that could also tie in with what you said in Daan mentioning “If you’re happiness relies on the shoulders of others”—I wonder if she’s thinking of the idea of letting go of religion even then 🤔

SEGUE-WAY INTO DAAN

Daan cutting Abella off coldly at the statue is actually not the only time he does it! He also does it at the mall, with all the people hanging on the ceiling!

Levi mentions that it seems like the people there are enjoying it (which Daan agrees to), suggesting that the whole thing might be a sexual religious act.

When they go back down and Daan and Abella are there, we get this dialogue:

Those two instances just feel…so similar to me. It’s also interesting that they’re both triggered by Abella djndjfnjsjdnf

Also, while looking for the above pic, I also came across dialogue where he mentioned he’s done enough camping for a lifetime because of his parents, which I admittedly didn’t think about. Religious trauma even ruined camping for him :(

Daan’s the opposite of Marina—instead of leaning into it and making fun (like most of the Termina contestants tbh), he avoids anything relating to the Bunnymasks as much as possible.

It does make me wonder if he could help Marina let go of her past and find something new to strive for—he was able to do it with the kindness of the von Dutches so maybe he can do the same for Marina!—but that’s just me being obsessed with found family at that point 😆

im sorry, but the autism won, and i gotta info dump fear and hunger shit to you bc i think you might find it interesting.

in funger 2, there is a character named Daan. he also goes by Daniël, because his parents each would call him by one of those names, so he doesn't actually know which is his real name.

when daan was a toddler, his parents joined a cult to that world's god of love, healing, and fertility called sylvian. the cult calls themselves bunnymasks, and daan was used to seeing his parents naked and wearing only rabbit masks as they'd leave him to go to the meadows. we know from the first game that the bunnymasks engage in one giant orgy, and if you participate, you can get a full heal.

it's also said that his parents tried to pass on the healing gift of sylvian onto him. which is healing sex magic. so. a lot is implied there just in that sentence. but his parents would mostly just leave him behind to go to their religious orgy since they cared more about it than him.

when daan was 13, his parents never came back. so he was on the streets. so a kid who was raised in a nomadic lifestyle, who normalized seeing sexual acts since he was raised around it, is now on his own.

in the game, when you pick a character and go through their backstory, you can pick certain things that give that character certain skills or items. for daan, one of the choices is to become a pickpocket or to try and live an honest life.

if you chose pickpocket, it's said that he wasn't good at it and had to turn to something else to make money. so he turns to healing people with sylvian's magic. if you chose this option, daan learns the healing spell, loving whispers. so he didn't know any healing spells from when his parents tried teaching him, but he raised his affinity with sylvian enough to learn the spell by healing people for money. you raise your affinity with sylvian by having sex or masturbating. so it's kinda implied that he did sex work when he was on the streets.

if you pick live an honest life, daan becomes an apprentice butler for a baron. if you chose the first option, the baron seeks out daan when he's 15 after hearing about his healing magic and takes him in to make him an apprentice butler.

the baron has an interest in the occult. he's also a doctor. so, he teaches daan modern medicine in exchange for knowledge about sylvian and her rituals. which is sex magic.

fuck this is longer than i thought, but it should be good enough. most of the fandom, from what ive seen, seems to accept that daan has csa trauma from his parent’s cult. in fan art, some people draw him with sylvian's sigil branded into him, which is so fhrhdjsjjsjs

i dont think any media ive really loved has been one that doesn't deserve copious disclaimers. fear and hunger, neon genesis evangelion, barry, night in the woods, bojack horseman, always sunny in philadelphia, all of these come with major TWs and they are still fantastic. however!! as someone who has said the exact quote in the OP's post, i feel this is misunderstanding the meaning? maybe the people they've encountered use it differently. when i say "funger is good but you can't recommend it casually without mentioning the trigger warnings", that's not saying it's bad and should not be recommended due to engaging with triggering subject matter. i'm saying the media in question engages with triggering subject matter and does not give very detailed/thorough trigger warnings for that subject matter oh it looks like it's actually been updated with a better and clearer warning, that's terrific! if i mention funger to a friend and they play it and are then upset by stuff that happens in that game, id feel bad that i hadnt properly cautioned them about the triggering content. when media doesnt warn its audience about its content, you gotta take that upon yourself when recommending it, yknow? anyway some specific trigger warnings for the stuff i listed, all of which i recommend highly: - fear and hunger: gore, dismemberment, sexual assault and sexual violence, nudity, cannibalism, self-harm, suicide, torture - neon genesis evangelion: abusive/neglectful parents, gore, nudity, suicide (outcome of an attempt depicted on-screen, as well as depression being a major theme), if not outright sexual assault then definitely some stuff that leans very close to it - barry: gore, torture (specifically someone gets a tooth filed, it's played for laughs but was still very hard to watch), domestic abuse, emotional/psychological abuse and manipulation in general are a huge theme, suicide, at least one incident of sexual assault - night in the woods: child abuse, stalking, drug addiction, suicidal ideation, mental illness is a major theme, idk how to put it into a short phrase but the main theme is about feeling as though one's life is "stuck" (the protagonist is a college dropout moving back home and scared that she's never going to be or do anything more than this, the anxiety of being trapped in one's hometown forever is a major concern for other characters too) - bojack horseman: drug abuse and especially alcoholism, depression and suicide, sexual assault including CSA, child abuse, racism, abusive and manipulative relationships (especially ones with power imbalances), grooming - always sunny in philadelphia: oh dear GOD okay this show has over a dozen seasons and tackles lots of upsetting subject matter with surprising grace and care for an "offensive humor sitcom", in particular abuse, mental illness, drug addiction and especially alcoholism, sexual assault including (implied) CSA, ableism and honestly every brand of bigotry, gaslighting, honestly if any show could qualify for actually literally having "every trigger warning under the sun" it is this one

whenever someone is like "[X] is so good but you can't just recommend it casually bc it has every trigger warning under the sun" that in itself is a recommendation. all the truly good shit needs a minimum of 5 disclaimers or it can't possibly reach the level of visceral catharsis necessary to be classified as a masterpiece. the funnier variant of this is when you come across a callout post for a piece of media that ends up reading like a recommendation instead
