when you and tito found out you were pregnant mat was ecstatic.

i mean he wanted the cool uncle title.

you guys had dogs and he dog sat them but it wasn't the same.

as soon as the baby was born mat spoiled them.

75% of the babies closet was barzal or islanders gear kindly provided by mat.

"If he isn't wearing his dads jersey he's got to wear uncle mat's."

one day you go to a game and your baby boy isn't wearing wearing mat's jersey and mat is like "where's his jersey, he's my good luck charm"

"Mat we we running late i forgot to grab it."

"Here buy him one i need all the luck i can get" he'd say.

As your kid grew older around 5 he would always ask where "uncle mat" was and tito would feel like your kid doesn't like him anymore.

You'd have to explain to him that a dad and uncle relationships are different.

They'd be so childish about who's the favorite though.

They'd like sit him down.

Of course in the situation your kid would say mat.

And mat would never let it go "im the kid's favorite" he'd tell tito as he sticks his tongue out at him.

Would definitely go to mat for advice about girls when he's older.

mat feels as though he shouldn't take that chance away from tito.

so he's like how about we get something to eat and i can take you back home so you could ask your dad.

mat knows when not to cross lines and such.

your kid is not allowed to have candy after a certain time? Mat will definitely sneak into your house and get him candy.

then you have a daughter and oh boy mat is playing dress up.

ya girl is off of work for the next TWO AND A HALF WEEKS LMAO. today was my last day bc i’m going on vacation !!! so in short i wanted to say:

i’m gonna be in california until the 19th, which means i am gonna have SO. MUCH. TIME. to finish fics & everything else i wanna!! i know i’ve been really lame & kinda inactive lately, but that’s gonna change. i’ve got a lot of fics in the works, including several country song fics ( @fav-imagines katie i’m so sorry you’ve had to wait so long for the mat fic akjdksjjsjsj), a brock boeser x wealthy!reader (was originally gonna be mat but then it just?? feels like brock fits better), and various pld/nolan patrick/teeks/sidney crosby blurbs!! 

i’ve just been really scattered and busy bc of work & school & personal stuff, but for the next two & a half weeks, i’m gonna be MUCH more available!! so don’t hesitate to send requests in! i’ll be rbing a lot of prompt lists, so if you want to ref those, the tag will be #palm springs prompts !!!
