at this point I don't think anyone talking about "enemies to lovers book recs" has ever actually considered what the word enemy means
#i know that's the in buzzword for all romances at the moment#but most of the time what they actually mean is 'people who didn't immediately love each other'#beach read always being described as enemies to lovers bugs me because a decade old academic rivalry isn't enemies??#also saw maybe in another life by tjr on one of these lists and ???? there's two romances in that and neither are enemies in the slightest#this is why people need to stop describing/recommending/categorising/marketing books by specific tropes#talking
