During moments like these, it was so easy to talk to him. Yuma was rough around the edges, but his real nature was kind and caring. He had been so understanding toward Shu, so friendly despite the vast differences between them, and despite how many times he had been hurt by Shu. In some ways he hadn’t changed at all from when he was a kid. Though Yuma was no longer a human, he was still a representation of the “human warmth” Shu had longed for and denied himself all this time, only now he felt more mature, less like a little kid and more like a man. Shu had spent so long missing him when he wasn’t there, and forcing himself to keep a distance from him even when he was. Now that Yuma was there, alive, safe, close enough to touch, Shu was forced to confront his own feelings. Shu had been in love with him since his childhood.
