Somewhere along the line "blue-black hair" got flipped to iridescence in my mind so now Chiss have iridescent hair to me. Apparently the dark hair version irl is called oil slick and the blonde/light hair version is opal. Anyway, I'll leave you all with this headcanon of mine. (Pinterest has some pretty sweet pics of what I'm talking about if anyone's curious...pidgeon and duck feathers on certain species are also good examples).

Summary:

The Chiss Ascendancy is more than the Syndicure, more than the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet. Politicians and warriors alike rely on the endless, unsung labor of the commoner families, who live in hope that someday one of their children may be chosen to join the upper echelons of Chiss society… and leave them behind forever. Deep in the bowels of Csilla, among the maintenance workers and support staff who, unlike the Greater and Ruling Families, never have the chance to leave the frozen planet, a skywalker is born.

Karrde's Fandom Friday Rec #3 (11/04/22)

My last rec of the week has to go to this Ar'alani artwork by @khazaaddum. Ar'alani is one of my favorite characters out of the Ascendancy series, and she is PERFECT in this piece, beautiful and yet intimidating. While Thrawn is a brilliant military strategist, I firmly believe a large part of his success and knowledge base can be attributed to the women around him (and I think he'd tell you the same).

I love how the artist captured the woman that arguably played the most significant role in Thrawn's life. She's just perfect.

Concept art for the Eleventh Fleet - Mitt'raw'nuruodo.

Hands got to the rendering of Mitt'raw'nuruodo's sketches. It was unusual to draw him without the Grand Admiral’s signature hairstyle, but I really wanted to make a strong contrast between his life “before” and “after” starting his service in the navy. Life on his home planet certainly wasn't easy.

+ some parallel with Ezra and his fate.

…And I still think the idea of ​​making Thrawn's kintsugi-style form during his exile is my best idea :3 After red eyeliner on Karyn's eyes, of course.
