Atlanta’s very own mainstream artist Future returned to continue his Nobody Safe tour in his hometown at Aaron’s Lakewood Amphitheater on Tuesday night 5/9/2017. I didn’t hear about the event selling out to be honest but it is to be noted that this was Future’s second show following his 5/5/17 show at the same venue the previous Friday. The amphitheater can hold up to 18,920 people at max, although I don’t think that many people came there was a lot of people there in attendance to see the superstar. The seats vary to be honest, if you got the cheapest tickets you would be force to stand on the lawn but although I made a dig that they were cheap tickets, you would probably have the best time on the lawn. The lawn is very care free, festival like feel to it where you meet a lot of people and just get to enjoy one another in the back while watching the artist perform on a big screen. I never been to the lawn but a lot of people I know have and I haven’t heard any complaints to be honest, I on the other end was sitting in section 103 where the section provided chairs but who had the time to be sitting down. My tickets cost about $150 which isn’t bad at all, I think a large thanks to that was it being the second show of Future and that I got a pre-sale ticket before everyone started buying all the tickets and reselling them for an arm and a leg price. If you plan to attend Future tour this year, his opening acts start on time and he’s pretty damn punctual to be a rapper so don’t let your crew slack around thinking you all won’t miss anything. At my particular venue, I had to skip a line where they check tickets because it was just too long for my liking but if you don’t want to put up with being in a long line, you may want to show up awhile earlier because they get pretty long.
All in all, you can tell that Future has made it in this industry the response that he got from his fans while on stage was crazy and the love he received to be able to host two shows within the same week is humbling. The fact that Future came out right at 9 and didn’t have any diva moments and being punctual meant a lot to me, I think that Future is a smart, professional man as well seeing that if he would have gone over the time it would have come out of his paycheck.
CONCERT TIME! Young Thug was his opening act and no I am not kidding, as you all know that Thugga and Future had a little beef once upon a time but that’s dead now. Now I’ve seen Young Thug live once before at the Beyonce show and it was nothing special and it was actually a good time but at this Future show his opening set was BORING AND TRASH! No one really cared to watch Young Thug perform because of his lack of energy, enthusiasm, and drive. I used this time to network with others in my section about the blog and promote myself as a brand since Young Thug obviously got too comfortable with his for him to not be in the zone. Young Thug performed some of his bops which really isn’t worth mentioning because his stage was so dry due to it needing some sort of design and theme but I guess Future wasn’t having that since he was literally going to go on right after. I can admit that I was feeling the “Lifestyle” and it was Thugger closing song on his set, rightfully so. If you want to see Young Thug, 30-minute set then make sure you arrive at the venue at 7pm because the event is going to start on time with or without you. Unfortunately, Migos are becoming bigger and bigger by the second and they were unable to make it to the concert to bless up with their large array of hits but I definitely support them and will see them this year.
Future is now the biggest artist that I’ve seen to date as of now just look at that venue capacity and how much that ticket cost. Future performed a set that lasted about an hour and a half so kids if you want your parents to pick you up, 10:30 would be a reasonable time. The stage was super dope, with a big ass screen above him so everyone could see him even if you were on the lawn. It was honestly a simplistic stage no real props on stage that meant anything pertaining to the tour, no theme but he had prop blocks on stage with his name on them which help fill the stage up. My favorite aspect of the stage was the addition of the pyro to the show, every time the pyro signaled off during the show you could feel it instantly get hot while you’re turning up and made the show the performance that much better bringing it to life. “DRACO” opened up the show off the Future album, Draco is a very popular song off the latest album and it wasn’t a bad choice at all, actually a wonderful choice. There was nothing added on special to any of the songs performed but it was great that he had live drums to make the songs pop it was nice to hear how loud these songs could really get with the drums joined the with DJ. Future had stage presence he interacted with the crowd as much as he could from afar and I don’t think he tried his best to intimately to connect with the crowd but he let his music speak for itself. Songs from the album were performed in its entirety or close to it while the hits consisting of, Love Me, Same Damn Time, Bugatti, Jumpman, Shit!, and I can go on and on so let me stop. DJ Eskimo came out and blessed the stage with “Too Much Sauce” it wasn’t nothing special at all just blended well into the show if anything. Future really has a big ass discography sheesh, I didn’t even realize he didn’t perform “Thought it Was A Drought” because he performed other favorites ranging from; Itchin, Lay Up, I’m So Groovy, Super Trapper, Wicked, and once again I can go on and on so let me stop there. He slowed the show down a little bit with the song “Low Life” but that didn’t last long, you could tell he didn’t want to sing much or make this an R&B show. In terms of song arrangements, I was really surprised and impressed at Future performing “Move That Dope” acapella for the crowd and having the DJ hype him up with no audio it was a moment for me during the show. The final leg of his set list he brought out some dancers and I really enjoyed that because even though Future wasn’t boring by himself it really made you feel comfortable dancing along to some of hits now seeing these four men on stage killing choreography. Future really didn’t depend on his playback at all which was greatly appreciated, you could tell that he knew his lyrics and had a good time performing these songs and didn’t feel any pressure or any lack of thereof during the show. I have to thank the DJ for being an amazing hype man. The crowd participation was real, everyone was twerking and rapping along ranging from all of ages, right in front of me was a six-year-old child having the time of his life with his father. The show ended with “Mask Off” the song of the country being performed live and the crowd went crazy and I couldn’t believe that it was the show closer, thought it was a false closer but I was wrong. So when you hear Mask Off you can start making an exit, there’s nothing else after that to be honest which is cool, I just didn’t want the show to end for a second there because I was having such a good time.
I think that it is important to attend a Future concert especially while he is this hot right now in his career. Young or old, you will have a blast rapping and dancing along to Future hottest tracks and you will make plenty of friends because that is the power of music. I didn’t check out the merchandise stand because I was out of money but if you can find it check it out. I would dress comfortable to a Future show because it’s like a festival, the show is really festival vibes with it being a back to back song with no transition or no meaning behind the next song he will perform just throwing out hits which works for him. ATTEND THIS CONCERT, YOU WON’T REGRET IT!
