Home from Thanksgiving dinner. Had salmon and some typical thxgvng sides and it was good to see my sister and parents and her dog (old family dog 12 yr jack Russel)

ate a bunch on thxgvng but i didnt even feel guilty. all ive had today is a matcha latte, an 80 cal bottle of kombucha, and a handful of kale. i do have a migraine though so i might have an apple or more kale or an egg. 

also i’ve been getting 15k steps in a day for the last three days. still at a terrible weight but better than earlier this week

I. The Menu:

Roast Chicken with Lemon, Thyme, Ginger (In Oven)

Turkey Neck/Chicken Leg Gravy with dry Vermouth

Yeasted Dinner Rolls (First Rise)

Mashed Root Veggies (parsnips, carrots, celery root)

Cornbread Dressing with Sausage and Sage (In Oven)

Cabbage Gratin (In Oven) 

Beet + Sweet Potato Hasselback with Gruyere (In Oven)

Wok-Fried Crispy Green Beans with Mushrooms 

Bitter Greens Salad (lemon zest dressing)

Marbled Pumpkin Pie/Cheesecake (DONE)

II. Wednesday

Grocery trip

Make cornbread: buttermilk, melted butter, cornmeal, baking powder, salt

Make chicken/turkey stock: roast chicken legs and turkey necks; instant pot 3 hours

Make sausage mix: ground pork, fennel seeds, smoked paprika, ginger, salt, pepper, cardamom, red pepper flakes

Dry brine chicken: salt, pepper, herbes de provence, baking powder

Make pie/cheesecake: almond/pecan/walnut crust; pumpkin pie filling; cheesecake filling. 

Slice veggies: mandoline beets and sweet potatoes; chop parsnips, carrots, celery root, celery, cabbage, mushrooms, etc.

Slice/tear cornbread into croutons

III. Thursday

Roast cabbage

Dry out cornbread croutons if not stale

Assemble dressing: cornbread, sausage, celery, sage, stock. 

Assemble gratins: cabbage, cream, fresh thyme, manchego; beets, sweet potato, coconut milk, gruyere, parmesan. 

Stick in oven: chicken, dressing, gratins

Make dinner rolls (rise ~45 min--hour)

Cook root veggies for mash

Make salad: baby kale, arugula, olive oil, lemon, lemon zest 

Make gravy: roux, stock, dry vermouth 

Wok fry the green beans and mushrooms; serve with sliced almonds

Get out chicken, dressing, gratins; put in rolls

Enjoy fruits of my labor

I just found out that Thxgvng is late next year. Making it closer to my birthday. I’m already planning a week long vacay only using 3 days PTO. 😎😎😎

Ngl, I thought Thxgvng & virtual school last week almost got the best of me, but I broke free & I’m back! I think I may need to go ahead & tag this #MakeupRemoverMonday #TextureTuesday #WhiteWednesday #TextureThursday and #FreshFaceFriday just in case. Ever since I tried a sample of @tatcha Rice Polish Foaming Enzyme Powder, I’ve been *dying* to buy the full size. At $65 that’s like 8 @chickfila meals or a pair of shoes for this SAHM, so I kept putting it off. I happened upon @dhcskincare ‘s Face Wash Powder at @target for $12.59 & had a gift card, so it was a no brainer that I had to try it, bc science experiment, yenno? And that’s 80% off the Tatcha price, so SCORE! Let me share what I’ve discovered in 3+ months. DHC’s philosophy honors the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, which teaches the beauty in imperfection. Their goal is to help you feel beautiful in your own skin. In order to do that, DHC encourages the J-beauty tradition of Double Cleansing. This Face Wash Powder makes a fab 2nd cleanse! It transforms from a powder to a rich foam w/ just a bit of water, & is formulated w/ the following to cleanse, gently exfoliate, & hydrate for a smoother complexion: *Silica- gentle exfoliation. *Protease Enzymes- dissolves dead skin. *Lavender Flower & Licorice Root Extracts- calms + soothes skin. *Honey- softens + moisturizes, & naturally antibacterial + antioxidant rich. *Sodium Hyaluronate- derivative of HA; nourishes moisture barrier. It cleanses completely & leaves no trace behind. I’ve noticed cleaner pores, softer skin, & a slightly more even tone when using this product. Usually I see Americans talking about Thanksgiving food and think “that sounds disgusting” but all of this sounds DELICIOUS

secretly most Thanksgiving food is unbearably bland (and turkey is the worst meat) so THANK YOU
