[sms: Cynthia] It's nothing too major, I hope.

[sms: Cynthia] I'm putting together a pitch to present to the Hoenn Contest Board tomorrow. They are looking to open more Contest Halls in Sinnoh, but they want to know what native Pokemon our region has to offer.

[sms: Cynthia] You are familiar with the contest categories, yes? Cool, tough, smart, beauty, and cute? I need some Sinnoh-specific examples for each.

[sms: Cynthia] I would do it myself, but I'm afraid my Pokemon would get upset if I didn't pick them. :)

Lucas has decided to gamble! He only participated once, so he may as well go all-in. With that in mind, he takes a deep breath as he approaches.

“This isn’t the only reason I decided to become a Trainer, but it was the deciding factor,” he admits. Taking off his right glove and pushing his sleeve back, he holds up his arm so that the scar on it is visible. “A couple of years before I started my journey, I was struck and nearly killed by something that left this behind. Nobody could figure out what could have done it. Trainers travel a lot, so I figured I’d have a better chance of finding out than if I just stayed in a lab, you know?”

“I won’t say if I figured that mystery out.” Because he still wasn’t sure if trusting Gatz with that knowledge was wise. “But it doesn’t answer the second question, anyway. If I could be honest, it’s mostly to spite Cyrus - by being a part of the world he wanted to destroy. It would be hypocritical if I shut myself off from the world after I helped save it, right?”

Gatz and Sableye are both judging now, as opposed to just Sableye. Gatz is leaning in, focused intently as he is given a taste of the knowledge he swore to never seek on his own. Sableye felt bad about the scar, but glad Lucas was okay. He wondered if the scar still hurt. But the mention of bettering oneself in spite of someone else only makes them think of a certain Maverick and can't help but chuckle. But oh boy is Lucas right about Cyrus.

"Hahah! That's a beautiful reason to live your best life. Cyrus is a real piece of work, and you are right to rub your persistent existence in his face. I respect the hell out of you just for saying that. I also respect that you'd take this gamble and go all or nothing with it. You sure you don't want to be a Maverick? You'd be a perfect fit!" Sableye in turn scratches a number on the table, a number he thinks is fair. 67.

A very perceptive person who I'm happy to call a friend, though my question of how you are seems to forever stand.

The hints you give about your life are concerning ones, you haven't shared all of it but it's a level of existential that I've never personally experienced. Something seems like it's changed about you in this world compared to how you started, and it's far beyond me to start debating on what that means and how.

But the fact you're still standing despite it all speaks volumes to me, you're honestly a very nice, fun, and interesting person to talk to. I'm glad we can get some laughs together while also going off about things we've been through a bit, they're not always easy to talk about but I'm happy to lend an ear where needed.

But all the same I'm mostly just hoping you're doing well, and hope you're having fun harassing my old childhood friend when you run into her. Always up for a quick text for a laugh too.

What is this Hilbert behavior from him? She absolutely expects better. Does he even know the unnecessary amount of angst brought on by his text? He could've been in trouble, for all she knows.

Lucas doesn't get much time to wait! He is unceremoniously dropped into the water, getting soaked! He's offered a towel of his choice of color or pattern.

Serena was a bit surprised to see Lucas had come all the way to Kalos, but was still glad to see him nevertheless! “Please, come in,” she’d say, ushering Lucas onto the sanctuary grounds with a smile, “thank you for coming all this way, I really appreciate it...” There were a few pokemon running around in the grass, while others had found sunny spots to sit and relax in.

Curiously, a small Larvesta had wandered over to the pair, the dual type peering up at Lucas, and then to Serena. After a moment, the Larvesta waddled over to him, making a motion to indicate she wanted to be picked up.

“She’s one of our less shy pokemon here, in case you didn’t notice.” Serena said with a laugh, already feeling the start of a bond beginning to develop. “She seems to like you a lot, though! Most of the time she doesn’t like other people picking her up unless she trusts them.” It was endearing to see, she had to admit.

The Larvesta sure seemed content where she was, adamant on staying put. “You know, I hear that sometimes a pokemon picks its trainer instead of the other way around,” Serena smiles, “would you like to take her with you? I don’t think she’d let you put her down even if you tried.”

"Trick or treat!"

The door opened on its own, but it seemed like nothing was there. Was anyone home? Was this some type of trick.

"Happy Halloween, Lucas."

It was coming from behind him, but when he turned around, there was nothing there.

No like, there was NOTHING there. Everything around him was suddenly white. The street he walked on was missing.... There was no sky. There was no floor. When he turned back around, he couldn't even find the door that he knocked on.

Where was he?

"Is this a trick...? Or is this a treat? I wonder...."

The voice came from behind him again. When he turned to look, the origin of the voice wasn't there. And when he turned back around....

The house was back. He was back where he was, right after the door opened. This time, however, his basket was full of all sorts of goodies.

"I'll be watching you, Lucas~" A voice called out once more, but the origin of that voice was nowhere to be found.
