On-Time Excellence: Delta Air Lines Leads the Pack in 2023's Flight Punctuality Race
Tumblr media
Travel is a cherished pursuit, yet flight disruptions like delays and cancellations can mar the experience. As Americans plan their 2024 trips, they seek insight into airlines and airports with the best track record in minimizing such disruptions. Recently released data from Cirium, an aviation analytics company, unveils valuable insights. Cirium's On-Time Performance Review 2023, evaluating punctuality for over 15 years using real-time flight information from 600 sources, has been published. The report highlights a bustling year for airlines, with over 32 million scheduled passenger flights in 2023. North American airlines responded adeptly to soaring travel demand, as stated by James Hetzel, Cirium's Product Marketing Director, projecting continued operational excellence for 2024 amid gradual resolutions to labor shortages and airport infrastructure challenges. Delta Air Lines, once more, claims the top position, with 84.72% of over 1.4 million flights arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled times in 2023. Anticipating an even busier year ahead, with an expected 9.4 billion travelers surpassing 2019's 9.2 billion passengers, the report underscores the evolving landscape. North American Airlines' On-Time Performance 2023: - Delta Air Lines – 84.72% - Alaska Airlines – 82.25% - American Airlines – 80.61% - United Airlines – 80.04% - Southwest Airlines – 76.26% - Spirit Airlines – 71.16% - WestJet – 69.29% - Frontier Airlines – 68.68% - JetBlue Airways – 68.33% - Air Canada – 63.17% In 2023, North American airlines achieved an overall on-time arrival rate of 74.45%, up from 74.26% in 2022, managing nearly 400,000 more scheduled flights than the preceding year. Among the top performers for on-time departures in major US airports: - Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport - 84.44% - Salt Lake City International Airport – 83.99% - Ronald Reagan National Airport - 83.20% - Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport - 83.09% - Seattle-Tacoma International Airport - 82.97% - Philadelphia International Airport - 82.75% - LaGuardia Airport - 81.34% - Charlotte Douglas International Airport - 80.36% - San Diego International Airport - 80.32% - Washington Dulles International Airport - 80.26% These airports ranked among the top 20 globally for on-time departures in 2023, contributing to a global on-time departure rate of 78.52%. Mastering the Power of C at 42 Lausanne: A Journey into Lower-Level Programming Languages
Tumblr media
C and C++ are powerful, efficient, and widely-used programming languages that have shaped the technological world we see today. They form the backbone of many systems, ranging from embedded systems and operating systems to browsers and games. Not only are they integral to the history of computer programming, but they are also continually shaping the present and future of technology.
Introduction to C and C++
C is a procedural language developed at Bell Labs in the early 1970s. Its purpose was to make utilities run on the new Unix operating system. Given its origins and purpose, it's not surprising that C and Unix have influenced each other to such an extent that understanding C provides insight into Unix and vice versa. On the other hand, C++ is an extension of the C programming language with additional features like classes and objects, making it an object-oriented language. It was developed by Bjarne Stroustrup in the 1980s with the idea of having a language that has the efficiency of C but provides high-level features.
When to Use C and C++
C is generally used when speed and flexibility are paramount, such as in embedded systems or high-performance computing. It provides near-direct control over the system's hardware and memory, making it an excellent choice for system-level programming. For instance, operating systems, file systems, and network drivers are often written in C. C++ expands upon C by adding object-oriented features, which can make programs easier to understand, design, and maintain. This makes C++ suitable for software infrastructure and resource-constrained applications, including desktop applications, servers, and performance-critical applications.
Where C and C++ Shine
These languages are not for the faint-hearted or those who want quick results. They require a deep understanding of how computers work. They might not be the best fit for creating a website or a simple mobile application, but when it comes to building systems that require real-time performance, high computational efficiency, or specific hardware access, C and C++ are unparalleled. Many hardware devices, from the tiniest microcontrollers to supercomputers, are powered by software written in C and C++. Moreover, their close-to-the-metal nature makes them suitable for graphics-intensive tasks like game development. Popular game engines like Unreal Engine rely heavily on C++ for core systems and high-performance parts.
Experience at 42 Lausanne
My experience at 42 Lausanne, a unique tuition-free, peer-to-peer IT school, helped me truly understand and appreciate the power of C and C++. The school's innovative "Piscine" (Pool) program immerses students in coding by offering a series of challenging exercises in C and Shell over a month-long period. Students not only solve these tasks but also evaluate others' solutions, fostering a collaborative learning environment. The 42 Lausanne's unique model of education, focusing on practical project-based learning, in stark contrast to conventional academic environments, provided a conducive environment for me to hone my C and C++ skills. The school's open-campus policy, round-the-clock operation, and exceptional IT infrastructure offered me the freedom to delve deep into the intricacies of these languages. More than just coding, the 42 Lausanne experience taught me the power of peer learning, collaboration, and the ability to learn by doing. These invaluable experiences have been integral to my development as a professional and have imbued me with the skills to tackle future technological challenges. Conclusion C and C++ are here to stay. Despite the arrival of high-level languages, the need for direct control over hardware and high computational efficiency keeps them relevant. Schools like 42 Lausanne provide a platform for aspiring programmers to master these challenging languages and embark on Read the full article

TIMEPERFORMIC
A gender for Time Lords who view gender as a performance. Individuals may not have a preference for gender when regenerating, but instead accept any regeneration as an excuse to take on a new gender identity in an exaggerated way (i.e. becoming hyperfeminine when regenerating as a woman and becoming hypermasculine when regenerating as a man). May overlap with Timegenderfluid or be used as its own label.
Intended for use by nonhumans and alterhumans who are or identify with Time Lords, but not exclusive and can be used by anyone who resonates with Time Lord or alien gender concepts.

Intro
Hello!
This is my blog for coining terms. Most will probably be related to nonhumanity, but other things may be mingled in.
DNI / BYF / Boundaries
I don’t care about opinions on most discourse, as long as you’re chill. However, my labels are NOT intended for use by bigots, pro-contact/anti-recovery HARMFUL paraphiles, harmful transIDs, and their supporters. (I am fine with nonharmful paraphilias like objectum and labels like transspecies, just not radqueer/xenosatanism beliefs.)
I will try to always credit where I get inspiration from. If I coin something similar to you on accident just let me know and I can probably link your version as well :) If something is already coined, consider it an alt flag.
Alt flags and coining things inspired by my terms/using my label systems are loved! For personal use, credit and linking back to me is appreciated, but not necessary. I would prefer you ask before adding my content to wikis; Pinterest and personal pages are always fine.
Suggestions/requests are welcome, especially related to things I’ve already made, but I kinda just make self indulgent things so I probably won’t follow through on all of them. Sorry </3.
Subject to be changed at any time. That is all!
