Υπάρχει ένα είδος μουσικής για τον καθένα που ακούγεται μόνο στην δική του ακουστική. Το πιστεύω. Γιατί το έχω αισθανθεί. Κάθε φορά που θα πιάσω το πινέλο. Όταν πατάω το πόδι μου στην γραμμή εκκίνησης. Και ξεκινά η ροή. Υπάρχει μία μουσική ξεχωριστή για μένα όταν ζωγραφίζω. Τα χέρια μου δραματοποιούν την παράσταση και η μελωδία είναι το background στον εγκέφαλο. Συνεχίζω και δίνω ζωή και μορφή σε αυτήν την μουσική. Είναι λες και τα χέρια μου.. αυτό που δημιουργώ είναι ραπτική. Η κλωστή καλεί την βελόνα για να πλεχτεί.. κάτι.

Μια κοπέλα βγαίνει σιγά σιγά προς τα έξω. Γραμμές που ενώνονται μεταξύ τους. Λάδια σε χρώματα. Δεν έχω ξανα δει τέτοια φύλλα στην φαντασία μου. Και όταν κάτι μου μοιάζει στραβό, βάζω λίγες πινελιές ροζ. Το ροζ τα φτιάχνει όλα. Άσε τι λέγαμε σαν έφηβες. Το μαύρο είναι άλλου είδους αλήθεια. Το ροζ είναι ζωή.

Δεν θα της δώσω πρόσωπο. Αποφάσισα όταν την ξεκίνησα ότι θα κοιτάζει στην άλλη πλευρά. Μέσα στον καμβά, πίσω από τα δέντρα. Εκεί που δεν μπορώ να δω. Φαντάζομαι όμως. . ένα μέρος μαγικό σαν την Εδέμ. Και εκείνη έχει το προνόμιο και την δύναμη να πάει εκεί ενώ όποιος κοιτάζει τον καμβά όχι.

Thornton attended both the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and North Carolina State University for her MFA in Fiction. She lives with fellow author Kevin Kauffmann in Durham County, North Carolina, where members of her family have resided for over two hundred years. Her creative work has been featured in the Masters Review, TJ Eckleberg Review, tinyjournal, Colonnades Literary & Art Journal, and Apeiron Review.
