Tips For Building a Home Business

The reason the first year is so important is because it is the year when you begin to learn if it is even feasible that you could start our own business at home. Your attitudes and habits and most of all your mindset will set the tone of how you will proceed; or determine that you won’t be able to do it right now when you realize building a home business takes money, time and focus.
Certainly, if you have no way to survive while you build and develop your business, then you will have other real priorities getting in the way. Money, time, and all resources available to you will determine whether we can come up with a firm plan in which you can manage your finances. We all have to live while we are building our dreams…
One of the worst attitudes would be that you speculate (you are overly confident or actually foolish to assume) that if you spend our survival money (rent, food, utilities, etc) that you will certainly see a return on your investment in plenty of time to cover it. This is disastrous. There is nobody who can legally guarantee you will make any amount of money by any certain time. Especially online!
If marketers make statements that you may interpret as such, then you have to understand what they are saying is that it is possible based on their research but not guaranteed. In fact these guru’s may have be making money for some time and know what strategies work the best.
Most, if they are honest, will tell you they struggled at first until they figured it out. Some will show you exactly what they do and will share documented statistics to prove it. However, that is no guarantee it will work the same for you (results are not typical or implied). It really depends on how much you want it and how hard you are willing to work to get it. (…and of course if you actually follow-through and stick to your plan).
So what you need to do the first year is set a budget and focus on how you will make money to survive. How you will manage your time and resources so that you start to focus your assets on your home business. As the saying goes ‘you can’t get blood out of a turnip’. Where will you get the extra money to survive AND make a small investment in your business? Investments such as building a website or two, and/or a few marketing tools or services to promote and advertise the business?
The first year you will need decide whether you want a business bad enough to sacrifice your time and money. If you take stock of every dime you spend – you will see where you can find a few dollars to throw toward your goal; and then you can quickly determine which is the priority – e.g., is a $5 designer coffee more important; or going out to lunch, how exciting is that? More examples are unnecessary trips and all sorts of entertainment. Staying home and saving $25-$50 for example to invest in your business will result in that money making more money for you rather than throwing it away. You should start to put that aside – in a savings account or somewhere to add to your marketing budget. Then when you make money your first year it is smart to reinvest in your businesses growth.
If you have plenty of money to survive then you can focus your attention on squeezing out the time you will need to spend planning and working on developing your home business over time. Be realistic – do you have 2 hours a day, or 2 hours a week; and again ask yourself where you can save time from? Anyone can build a home business if they just take the time to take inventory in their lives and the places they can make sacrifices.
