#can you tell how hard it was for me to have to color scheme the three on the left.#i know I dress in all black. but.#i hattte designing nearly all-black or just all dark clothing on characters #i love bright colors that pop. hence. the rest to the right dhfbfjdbfjfbfbf #but whatevs i think they turned out alright.#corbin is always fun (and a bastard) to draw either way :3 #tmmomr #i think i gotta add more lighting to some of their hair #or get rid of auburns.#or maybe she just has shiny hair idk. but there's a contrast here.

They've been in kind of a battle royale the last year or so, if you've followed me for a while you've probably seen some of the designs paired up with other designs, some of which have been scrapped or changed a lot since their creation.

I have labeled below the names of most of the characters that I have more or less solidified the designs for, though there's a couple missing that I don't have drawings of at the moment:

I wouldn't trust some of their colors to stay the same though, and obviously some aren't colored in at all yet ^^;... but these are their names :3!

My bestie might be designing a character (or more, I don't know yet) for this roster, and I'm really excited to see where that goes.

#irvin's colors i think are the ones that'll probably be changed the most #really hate that purple & red combo but it was slapped together very quickly HSDKJFHKJSDF #jess has colors but. i have admittedly lost the original reference for her so I gotta wait till i either find it or remember the colors lma #and the only design out of all of these that might still change a bit I think would be felix #because i'm not sure if i like his design enough...... feels a little empty. could be expanded upon idk #anyway. those are their names :)#tmmomr

what’s tmommr(? did i get that right?) about?

TMMOMR, which was just the name i came up with for tagging's sake, stands for The Many Mysteries of Monster's Rift. I said I'd stick with that name but since saying so, I've done a lot of deep thought about the characters and the world and I'm not sure how hard I'll cling to that name in the future... but I'll still use it for now ^_^;...

Anyways originally I designed the tmmomr characters as supernatural beings, ranging from stuff like vampires and werewolves and witches, to cryptids and aliens and other kinds of monsters. Everybody had something going on with them that made them supernatural in some way. It was going to be a small town mystery about a rapidly changing environment, and an attempt to fix things before things got deadly.

Buttttt... while I still wanna keep some supernatural flair in there, I think I'm wanting to go a different direction with the characters. I've considered lately the idea of inserting them into many stories, different roles and settings every time. There's probably plenty of other and better examples out there than this, but sort of like Happy Tree Friends in a way? You know, how not all the characters in the roster are necessary for any given story, and the ones that are involved sort of just assume the role best fitting to them for said story.

I'd like to do something like that. It might also be because I can't settle on one environment or setting for them. I want them sci-fi and I want them medieval and I want them noir fiction and I want them having sleep overs or traveling the world or doing fuck all.

TL;DR, it isn't about much right now. It's mostly character designs and some have more character development than others. I'd be happy to talk about them & expand upon them if you or anybody else is curious, though :3!

#tmmomr #i also wanted an easier universe to work with to make a visual novel with #i wanna do a cq one but i am trying to be smart about this.#i think i need to work with a much smaller story than cq for my first completed visual novel #cause if i try to do cq from the start im gonna get burnt out and end up not finishing it ABSJDBDBD #and tmmomr is still very doughy atm so i can make it whatever i want and not have to worry about not finishing if i cant keep up #i have done visual novels before but ive never finished one #so like. heres hoping i get somewhere x_x!

From either CQ or TMMOMR which character is the hardest to draw? Either their hair or something about them (I know you said Corbin's hair causes some trouble, but)

TyV is actually really annoying to draw. It's so easy to mess his hair up, and same goes for his facial hair. Then he has several layers to his outfit which no other mime really has, so it takes extra long to finish a fuller picture of him. But I also think he deserves the level of complexity he harbors. It's only fitting.

Corbin and his hair are difficult, yes, but the rest of him is so bland and simple it sort evens out for me. 75% of the time spent drawing him is finding the correct spot for his hair to sit at, lmao.

Unique is probably the most difficult in other aspects. Her eyes are meant to be more stylized and manga-esque in a way, and her head shape is also much more detailed than I usually go for in a design, neither of which I have the best grasp on understanding, so she ends up taking a really long time to draw properly.

Honorary mention is Ching's puppet form. There's a lot more to the positioning of his free floating geometry than you'd think for it to look right.

When you say “insert into different stories” for your TMMOMR gang, are you referring to something in the vein of Veggietales (literally the only example I could think of) where its the same cast of characters but they’re inserted into different roles for different stories? Like as an example: a retelling of Rocky Picture Horror Show with Xiveeve as the main character (or one of them?)

Sort of, yeah! I meant a little more like, I'd like to make short stories and insert whoever fits best/whoever I feel like writing for into the roles of said story, but I think doing some retellings of pre-existing, popular stories may be really fun to work with as well :3

Smiling, for his kind = flirtatious intent/absolutely dtf.
