Page 4: The world watched as Prince Harry came face-to-face with the royal family for the first time in over a year to say farewell to his late grandfather Prince Philip, and now that he's back home in Montecito, California, with pregnant wife Meghan Markle and their 23-month old son Archie, Harry's been reflecting on the emotional reunion and preparing for what lies ahead in the coming months -- although the trip inevitably had its share of awkward moments, he's generally happy with how it went, and things had been especially frosty between Harry and The Firm following his televised tell-all, but the main thing is they broke the ice, and he's finally communicating properly with his family again -- in fact, Harry is said to have enjoyed low-key meetings with several relatives before heading back home to the States, including his grandmother Queen Elizabeth and cousin Princess Eugenie, although he did not have a one-on-one chat with his estranged father Prince Charles and it was more of a civilized catch-up than an intense sit-down because it wasn't an appropriate time to delve into recent tensions; however, Harry did take the opportunity to reassure everyone it wasn't his intention to upset them and that he loves them all very much and they, in turn, echoed their affection for him and they mutually agreed to keep moving forward positively and constructively and there's a still a lot of unfinished business, many are hopeful that all will be resolved when Harry returns to the U.K. for a memorial honoring his late mother Princess Diana on July 1 and this could be Harry's last chance to sit down with his family and properly repair things and Harry and Prince William have both agreed to meet before the event and have a frank discussion about how they can do their best to fix the damage that's been done and air their grievances in a calm and pragmatic manner

Page 6: Next spring, Johnny Depp and his ex Amber Heard will head back to court in the latest installment of their ongoing legal drama, but this time, Johnny, who filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Amber following a 2018 op-ed where she detailed her experience as an alleged abuse victim, is determined to clear his name one and for all -- Johnny and his team have new and explosive testimony from two of the responding officers, plus new body cam footage, that they believe will finally turn things around in their favor and they're convinced it will show that Amber made up claims about their alleged May 2016 brawl in an attempt to ruin him and the video shows a neat apartment with nothing out of place, nothing broken or anything to suggest a knockdown fight had just occurred -- Johnny's always maintained his innocence and now he's confident this evidence will prove it and Johnny's also working on a tell-all that he intends to release as soon as he's declared innocent and the tome will vividly detail what happened on that night in 2016 and throughout their year-long marriage and Johnny feels Amber never really loved him and his friends warned him not to marry her, but he didn't listen, and he's paid a dear price for it

Page 7: A fateful chapter from Ashton Kutcher's past could be coming back to haunt him as he's being urged to take part in the upcoming documentary on his late ex Brittany Murphy and it's stressing him out to no end and so far, he wants nothing to do with it -- the documentary is going to look for clues as to why it all ended like this for Brittany, and producers want Ashton to tell his side of the story and the thinking is he may have little choice but to participate because he had a front row seat to Brittany's life, and her fans want him to shed light on what really happened

* Alec Baldwin and wife Hilaria Baldwin knew that having six kids would be a challenge, but they're realizing it's even harder to find nannies who are up to the task of tending to their brood because Alec and Hilaria have some pretty high expectations for the kind of people they want to employ and what the job entails and it's been a logistical nightmare hiring and scheduling a rotating team of caretakers -- in addition to children Carmen, 7, Rafael, 5, Leonardo, 4, and Romeo, 2, the parents welcomed baby Eduardo in September and their sixth child, Lucia, via surrogate in March -- long hours and multitasking are a must given the meal prep, diaper changes and homeschooling, plus the nannies have to know how to deal with a cranky set of kids without losing their cool and Hilaria's every bit the mother hen, so she won't settle for anything less than perfection

* Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna have had it with the romance between their daughter Amelia Hamlin and Scott Disick -- Amelia recently raised eyebrows when she was spotted with bruised lips, which often occurs after lip filler injections, and Harry and Lisa drew a line in the sand and they're concerned that Scott is convincing her to mess with her appearance, especially since she's talking about boob and butt surgery to keep his eyes off other girls and ever since the couple hooked up last October, Harry and Lisa have been sitting back and hoping that Amelia would come to her senses, but it's clear she's in way too deep now, and that they need to make their feelings known, but the worry is that Amelia will be pregnant before she knows it, so Harry and Lisa are ready to take the bull by the horns before Scott ruins their daughter's life

* Former Playboy Bunny Kendra Wilkinson has gone from living the high life to pounding the pavement to earn a paycheck, and she's missing the glam old days -- Kendra, who enjoyed a pampered existence as Hugh Hefner's girlfriend and Girls Next Door star, has had to bring home the bacon in the wake of her 2018 divorce from Hank Baskett to help provide for their two children, Hank, 11, and Alijah, 6, and being a single mom is a lot harder than she thought it would be and she currently resides in a humble Calabasas rental and recently snagged a job as a realtor and was hired by Kyle Richards' husband Mauricio Umansky and she's working long hours and weekends, and she looks pretty burnt out and Kendra tries not to complain and is sucking it up as best she can, but she can't help but think about the times when she didn't have to worry about bills and rent and could sleep in as long as she wanted

* He was once Hollywood's biggest bon vivant, but Jack Nicholson has become a total hermit, and friends are concerned that he's harder to get a hold of than ever and Jack's shut himself away in his hilltop home on Mulholland Drive, and everyone is worried about his state of mind -- the actor, who was last seen in public looking disheveled at a January 2020 Lakers game, says he just wants to spend his retirement in peace and quiet, but his loved ones wish he'd make himself a little more accessible -- Jack's admitted that he yearns for one last romance, but how can that happen when he's hiding at home? Jack turned 84 in April, and it's as if he's resigned to spending the rest of his life alone and it's so sad, but it seems there's nothing anyone can do for him

* It's barely been three months since Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker went public with their hot and heavy romance, and they're already talking about getting engaged and pregnant, not necessarily in that order and Kourtney fully believes this isn't just a honeymoon phase, but that Travis is the man she's going to share her dreams with -- as for Travis, he's been telling everyone he's hit the jackpot with Kourtney and Travis, who has two kids of his own, has already started shopping for rings and he's planning an ultra-romantic proposal because he's big on grand gestures and he's still looking for the perfect ring, but that doesn't mean the baby-making has to wait until it's on her finger

* Love Bites -- Zac Efron and Vanessa Valladares split, Brooks Laich and CrossFit athlete Katrin Davidsdottir dating, Tan France and husband Rob are having a baby this summer

Os raios solares fizeram com que a monegasca colocasse a mão espalmada frente à face, estreitando os olhos minimamente com a invasão incômoda da luz. A cabeça se movera um pouco para o lado, observando os demais indivíduos que, pacificamente, desembarcavam dos navios ancorados nos porto. Ao menor sinal de ter um rosto virado em sua direção, a mulher baixou a cabeça, ajeitando o boné de forma que não pudesse ser vista --- o cabelo preso debaixo do objeto enquanto o caminhar era estrategicamente rápido: desejava sair da visão de alguns soldados, mas, também, não poderia ser tão rápida para que não levantasse qualquer suspeita sobre si.

“Esquerda.” A voz que soara ao seu lado era rígida, baixa e calma; havia anos que o homem se fazia presente na resistência, portanto, estava habituado às urgências, às fugas, às perseguições... Sabia como agir em qualquer situação. A mulher, sem qualquer reação evidente, virara para a esquerda, seguindo um caminho que os levava para mais e mais longe do porto e, também, do navio que partiria de volta para Hyacinthum. Lentamente, o piso concretado e arranhado devido aos passageiros dera lugar às ruas de pedras encobertas pelos prédios caindo aos pedaços.

Não possuíam carros, portanto, fora uma longa caminhada de uma hora até o ponto de ônibus mais próximo e, depois, uma viagem de uma hora de San Juan até Bayamón. Em meio à caminhada, Zyanya parara em uma loja de conveniências sem muitos produtos, diante da pobreza em Byamón, e trocara de roupa, colocando um short curto e uma regata, deixando sempre sua arma escondida às costas, coberta pela blusa, é claro. Ao desembarcarem do ônibus, no subúrbio de Bayamón, o dia já estava quase na metade. A vermelha não se surpreendeu com o que vira, pois não imaginava nada diferente daquilo: um lugar um tanto desértico com apenas alguns galpões e casas despedaçadas. Bayamón havia se tornado habitável novamente depois de muitos e muitos anos de radiação, entretanto, poucos se aventuravam naquela região.

“55.” Novamente, poucas palavras; a viagem tinha sido toda em silêncio e não era nada além do esperado. José pouco se comunicava com qualquer um. A mulher apressara os passos na direção a um galpão, os dedos passando no cadeado que já estava aberto e passou pela cerca, evitando o olhar de desprezo de José. Ambos caminharam pelas portas do fundo do Armazém 55 e o vermelho que a acompanhava se aproximou da porta, passando pela sua frente, dando uma sequência de batidas diferentes do que Anya se lembrava. Sempre estava mudando. A sequência da vez eram dois tocs consecutivos, uma pausa, um toc e, após outra pausa, mais dois tocs. Do lado de fora, era possível ouvir o barulho dos cadeados sendo abertos e, então, os vermelhos receberam passagem.

“¡Hola!” A saudação em espanhol arrancou um sorriso da vermelha que se aproximou da velha conhecida. Os fios negros e pele oliva de Paloma lhe eram conhecidos e a monegasca lhe saudou dando uma palmadinha no ombro, adentrando com as mãos nos bolsos dos shorts. Não estava tão diferente da última vez que visitara a base e, bem, não estaria tão diferente da próxima vez que voltasse ali. “Andreas te está esperando.” Paloma acrescentou, indicando com a cabeça antes de voltar para o seu posto. Ela era a responsável por vigiar uma das entradas e avisar a qualquer menor sinal de aproximação. Por causa dela, muitos ali ainda estavam vivos e isso incluía a própria monegasca. E, o que deixava Anya um pouco consternada era que Paloma tinha pouco mais de 16 anos e já empunhava uma arma e tinha tamanha responsabilidade.

“Não pense demais na idade dela. Ela te mataria em uma conversa.” José dissera em seu ouvindo, afastando-se rapidamente em seguida. A vermelha abriu um sorriso jocoso, analisando como verdadeira as afirmações: Paloma era tão cruel e precisa quanto muitos ali. E, bem, era melhor tê-la como amiga do que inimiga. A monegasca prendera o cabelo em um coque alto enquanto caminhava, rumando para oeste, procurando pela figura do líder porto-riquenho, entretanto, fora interrompida por um par de homens que parara à sua frente, olhando-a com um sorriso deveras malicioso em seus lábios fartos.

“Piernas hermosas. ¿Cuándo abren?” A mulher maneou a cabeça, deixando escapar um riso baixo e debochado. Levantara, então, uma sobrancelha, encarando-o antes de puxar a arma que estava presa às suas costas. “Justo cuando apreto el gatillo. ¿Quieres intentar?” Completou maneando a cabeça de um lado para o outro, observando as reações alheias; iam de preocupação à descrença e, logicamente, os dedos estavam em alerta para puxarem as próprias armas. Pelos tamanhos de seus corpos --- eram altos, musculosos e claramente gostavam de impor-se --- diria que possuíam duas cada.

“Chicos, no derramemos sangre hoy.” A vermelha não se voltou para a voz do conhecido, mantendo-se encarando seus companheiros até que eles levantassem as mãos, indicando redenção. Ao que fizeram, ela abaixara a própria arma, observando-os se afastar, deixando-a sozinha com o homem de meia-altura, por volta de seus 40 anos, que caminhava na direção da monegasca com um meio sorriso em seu rosto, evidenciando seu divertimento. “Tem de parar de assustar os meus homens, chica.” Andreas não estava tão diferente da última vez que ela o vira

“Se seus homens fossem mais espertos, não precisaria ameaçá-los.” Balançara a cabeça, cumprimentando o homem com a cabeça. Entretanto, logo após o cumprimento, a mulher endureceu sua expressão. “O que houve?” O questionamento recebera como resposta um indicar de Andreas com a cabeça, informando-a que ambos se dirigissem a outro espaço. O líder rebelde era deveras desconfiado com relação às conversas que possuía com seus agentes. Ele sempre acreditava que poderia ser traído a qualquer momento. Culpe sua esposa tê-lo traído, de fato, ao informar sua localização a polícia.

Adentraram em uma saleta com luz baixa e diversos televisores mostrando a imagem ao redor do armazém: Andreas estava sempre vigiando os arredores. “A criança vermelha se foi. Desapareceu, é o que dizem, mas todos sabemos que ela deve estar com seus antepassados a essa altura. O nosso povo... Está perecendo cada vez mais rápido.” E havia pesar em sua fala, embora ele não se desse ao luxo de deixá-la lá por muito tempo. Em compensação, Anya pensava naquela informação: se os azuis mataram a vermelha, toda a esperança havia ido com ela e qualquer possibilidade... “E houve outra medida” o tom do homem agora era sombrio, interrompendo os pensamentos que Lloris formulava. “Os infiltrados em Hyacinthum tiveram suas línguas cortadas. Foram transformados em avoxes.”

Aquela informação, despejada de forma tão natural --- embora, claro, a ira de Andreas fosse identificada em seu olhar --- fizera-a com que o corpo da vermelha pendesse para trás, olhos arregalados diante da atrocidade cometida com os servos na instituição. “Como eles souberam quem éramos?” Fora o primeiro questionamento, após um longo minuto de silêncio, no qual ambos se encaravam.

“Difícil dizer. Há vários líderes se acusado, furiosos, que alguém os entregou, mas não é possível saber... Perdemos um, Ranu também tem alguns rebeldes desaparecidos até então. Não da para saber de onde partiu a informação.” E, pelo modo como aquela informação fora dada, a mulher sabia dizer que aquilo era um problema. Os líderes se acusando de um desertor que os entregara --- um fraco que colocara a vida de todos os rebeldes em risco por sua fraqueza --- não era nada bom, pois significaria um rompimento. Uma casa dividida não se sustenta de pé. “O que sabemos é que fomos comprometidos e que muitos desistiram. Pararam suas atividades.” Muitos desistiram. E quem poderia culpá-los, afinal? Estavam todos preparados para a morte, mas uma tortura em vida? Poucos suportariam.

“O que fazemos agora?” Lloris questionou, debruçando-se sobre a mesa. “Não vai me dizer que você está pensando em desistir depois de tudo.” O tom utilizado pela monegasca era urgente e um tanto acusatório. Andreas não poderia desistir! Não depois de tudo que ele fizera e, logicamente, não depois de tê-la arrastado para aquilo. Poderia tê-la deixado morrer no Marrocos, mas a recrutara. Salvara sua vida, dera-a abrigo e um lugar para ficar até que fosse para o instituto.

“Não desistirei, chica! Jamais” e ele também se debruçara sobre a mesa, íris castanhas postas sobre as íris negras de Lloris, observando a obstinação presente nos mesmos. Andreas tinha ciência da decisão de Anya antes que ela abrisse os lábios para pronunciar. “Mas não temos mais ninguém... Teremos de recomeçar toda a nossa operação na instituição. E você não pode estar pensando em voltar, Anya. Se souberem quem você é --- se é que não sabem ---, você não tem mais o disfarce. Esperanza está morta.”

Ah, Esperanza... Como aquele papel não era difícil de interpretar. Ela era animada, divertida, curiosa, intrometida, boa amiga. Características que a própria Anya possuíra, outrora. Contudo, Esperanza às vezes vacilava ante ao fogo presente no cerne da monegasca. A franco-espanhola era mais branda, contida, enquanto Lloris era mais enérgica. “Você sabe que sou mais esperta que isso.” Afirmou, cortando a fala alheia antes que esta se iniciasse, entreabrindo os lábios. “Eles perderam as línguas, mas continuam lá. Ninguém morreu. Eu consigo ficar calada durante o dia.” O cenho franzido de Andreas, tal como seu olhar descrente, lhe dizia que ela deveria fazer mais do que isso. “Andreas, não temos mais ninguém lá. Você mesmo acabou de dizer que muitos desistiram e outros devem desistir depois de assistirem essa atrocidade. Você sabe mais do que ninguém o que eu perdi por isso.”

Era a vida que ela conhecia até então: a guerra. Desde sua mocidade, tão nova que algumas memórias até se perderam no tempo, Anya se lembrava de viver em meio a uma luta. Tivera de lutar pela própria sobrevivência tantas vezes que não se via capaz de lembrar quando fora o último momento de quietude. Ela não conhecia a tranquilidade, não mais. E, bem, ela só tinha aquilo para sentir-se viva. E o porto-riquenho sabia disso. Sabia que ela não desistiria tão facilmente. Ela não tinha muito a perder.

“Você tem certeza do que está fazendo?” O vermelho questionou após outra longa pausa, perdido em seus pensamentos, os dedos longos e tatuados batendo contra o tampo da mesa. Em resposta, Anya apenas assentira a medida que sua cabeça se movia de um lado para o outro a fim de afastar qualquer pensamento indelicado que ousasse ferir sua postura. “Treinaremos mais tarde.” E, quando a monegasca ensaiara uma reclamação, Andreas acrescentou: “Você vai fingir ser uma avox. Isso é algo além do que foi treinada. Teremos de fazê-lo para que você não peque e não nos entregue.” E contra fatos, não há argumentos; Anya não tinha qualquer argumento para contrapor. Fingir ser uma avox poderia parecer fácil, mas para alguém que trabalhava tanto com a fala, seria mais difícil do que fugir de uma invasão azul.

“Agora, temos um problema para sua volta...” E, então, Andreas lançou na sua direção uma foto que escorreu pelo tampo da mesa até que os dedos da monegasca a pararam, diante de seus olhos. Era uma fotografia de Lloris e Locksley na primeira sexta. Estava próxima o bastante do outro para que se imaginasse que ambos estavam em um momento íntimo demais. Mas, bem, o que aquilo era problemático? Damian era assistente pessoal da rainha e ela deveria se aproximar dele, afinal. Era o propósito! Aproximar-se de todos que tinham relação com a nobreza.

“É um trabalho como outro qualquer.” A fala saíra tão natural e despreocupada que, de fato, parecia real --- embora Locksley não fosse um trabalho como outro qualquer ---, embora, claro, não o transparecesse. Era boa mentirosa e Andreas sabia disso, no entanto, não seria acerca daquilo que ele discutiria naquele momento --- embora tenha a lançado um olhar repreensivo. O vermelho sempre sabia mais do que deixava os demais perceber em suas falas.

“O problema do seu trabalho é que ele é um espião da coroa inglesa.” O porto-riquenho inseriu um tom duro, inflexivo; bem diferente do que ele usara outrora. Droga. A face confusa de Anya era o suficiente para Andreas bufar, ainda mais irado, percebendo que ela não sabia daquela informação, quando ela deveria saber. “O que você disse para ele?” Questionou o homem, incisivo; Anya tivera de pensar um pouco em todas as conversas com Damian. Ela falara de Gael, da sua fuga do mar e mentira quando ele questionara sua estadia em Hyacinthum, pois, embora confiasse no outro, sabia que aquele segredo não era apenas seu para partilhar. Droga, droga, droga!

“Nada. Conversamos sobre experiências passadas.” Não seria prudente indicar que conhecia o outro, ou jamais retornaria para o instituto. Tampouco seria prudente citar Ishmael. “Nada que o levasse a cogitar que eu sou parte da resistência ou qualquer possibilidade que pudesse levar a vocês. Eu não lhe dei nada.” Ora, a bem da verdade, Anya havia dado algo; mais físico, é claro e nada que pudesse incriminá-la.

“Assim espero, ou você sabe que podemos ter problemas ainda mais graves do que temos agora.” Fora a última fala de Andreas antes de deixá-la com seus pensamentos. O quanto aquilo havia colocado em risco todos naquele ambiente? Ora, não era como se Zyanya não tivesse imaginado que o outro escondia algum segredo, afinal. Damian questionava demais para alguém que só sentia saudades de um tempo longínquo; e, bem, como Damian havia se tornado assistente pessoal da rainha? A história parecia errada aos ouvidos da monegasca, mas ignorara e isso não era de sua natureza. Deixara seus sentidos enganados por um fantasma.

Os dias na base foram necessários até que, de fato, a situação no instituto fosse segura o bastante para que Lloris voltasse. E, bem, ela não estivera tão infeliz no espaço. Era como uma grande casa, uma grande família, que, embora deixasse Zyanya um tanto melancólica, também a fazia sentir-se integrada a algo que há muito tempo não possuía.

O zíper da mochila se fechara quando a monegasca termina de arrumar suas coisas. Conferira o tambor da arma, percebendo que todas as balas ainda estavam no mesmo lugar, satisfeita por não ter utilizado uma sequer.

“Toc toc” o tom era claro, embora fosse contido; os fios negros voaram ao que a monegasca virara a cabeça rapidamente, reconhecendo o som. Carlos. O sorriso era genuíno quando ela o fizera, embora seu corpo tivesse se mantido no mesmo lugar, encarando-o. “Just like I remember” indicou ele, adentro do espaço que Anya utilizara para dormir, apoiando o cotovelo em uma das camas.

Carlos estava no Marrocos quando Zyanya conseguira chegar, após ser resgatada pela guarda-costeira da região; ele a recebera, entrara em contato com Andreas e agora ambos estavam ali. “Trouxe um presente para você. Antes de partir.” O homem dera de ombros, entregando-a uma pasta de plástico azul. Entretanto, o vermelho não soltara a pasta quando a mulher lhe segurara o objeto.

“Demorou algum tempo para conseguir encontrar tudo e reunir, mas...” Carlos tinha uma voz reticente, como se não quisesse entregar a Anya o objeto, como se aquilo fosse um erro. No entanto, quando ambos se encararam, ele acabara por soltar a pasta nas mãos de Lloris, afastando-se alguns metros em direção à porta, deixando o peso de seu corpo cair sobre a parede. “Boa leitura.” Não havia cerimônias ou medos por parte da monegasca. Havia muito tempo que esperava por qualquer informação --- mínima que fosse --- que a levasse a quem ferira sua casa.

Primeiramente, lhe apareceram registros de nascimentos em espanhol, indicando que o registro ocorrera em Bogotá, Colômbia. Os nomes não lhe eram conhecidos e, ao pegar os registros de óbito, ficara ainda mais confusa. Em seguida, no entanto, lhe aparecera os registros de seus avôs e seus tios --- juntamente com a própria mãe --- em Mônaco, indicando o nascimento de todos na região de Monte Carlo. À medida que lia, ela compreendia, embora estivesse reticente em crer.

“Sua família nasceu na Colômbia.” Estava absorta nos papéis em mãos que sequer notara que o vermelho ainda estava ali, tampouco se preocupou com a presença de Carlos ou levantou o olhar para prestar atenção no que dizia. As palavras do homem eram apenas ecos de seu pensamento, que compreendia as informações que angariava dos papéis. Anya sabia de sua descendência latina, embora, claro, nunca tenha se interessado por ela. Havia coisas mais urgentes para se pensar, acreditava a monegasca. “Foram para o Velho Continente em fuga. Envolvimento com o narcotráfico. Eles foram assassinados pelo cartel colombiano” --- a fala do vermelho fora corroborada pela foto de um homem de meia idade, fios esbranquiçados e uma cicatriz na mão e face corada. “Estavam sendo procurados havia muito tempo.”

A lista de envolvidos ia além do que ela acreditava ser possível, embora, claro, não inimaginável. Anya fechou a pasta, deixando todos os documentos dentro da mesma. Os olhos, gélidos, ergueram-se para Andreas. Por toda a vida, o que alimentava o ódio da vermelha pelos azuis fora a certeza do envolvimento dos mesmos para com a morte de sua família.

Lloris voltou para a sua arrumação, colocando a pasta dentro da mochila e indo de encontro à porta. Já era hora de ir.

“Espero que isso não a afete.” Carlos segurou o braço de Anya antes da mulher passar por ele, descendo até que segurara sua destra para que olhasse para ele. Anya baixou a cabeça antes de voltar o olhar para o velho conhecido.

“Já afetou.” E, então, deixou-o sozinho.

Fragmentado – Shyamalan volta com um dos seus maiores “what a twist”

Os filmes de suspense nem sempre foram tão bem vistos por Hollywood. Durante um período, o gênero começou a ficar batido e a popularidade só decaiu. Sejam por suas histórias semelhantes ou os pequenos sustos sem criatividade; o segmento já não agradava o público.

Foram necessárias as mãos brilhantes de Alfred Hitchcock para reinventar o cinema da época. Graças ao seu perturbado Psicose, na década de 60, os filmes de suspense voltaram em alta e agora sempre trazia algo novo em seu enredo: o twist.

No fim da década de 90, o diretor M. Night Shyamalan foi responsável por um dos maiores twists do cinema. Seu surpreendente e impactante O Sexto Sentido norteou as conversas em festas de família e milhares foram as pessoas que reproduziram a popular frase: “Eu vejo gente morta“.

Depois do efeito causado pelo “menininho do sexto sentido“, Shyamalan colecionou grandes feitos como Corpo Fechado, Sinais e o controverso A Vila. Mas depois disso, o diretor, conhecido por seus twists surpreendentes, entrou em um vórtice de filmes desastrosos: tanto de crítica quanto de bilheteria.

Eis que o diretor emerge da sombra do esquecimento com o seu poderoso Fragmentado; um suspense simples, mas que faz qualquer fã do gênero, e também do diretor, se prender a cadeira e se deliciar com o filme, aguardando pacientemente a fervorosa reviravolta do diretor.

Fragmentado conta a história de Kevin (James MacAvoy), um homem que sofre de Transtorno Dissociativo de Identidade e que compartilha seu corpo com 23 personalidades completamente diferentes. Uma dessas personalidades é Dennis, um homem com TOC, que sequestra três garotas porque acredita que duas delas podem ser responsável por acordar “a besta”: a 24º personalidade de Kevin.

Fragmentado se faz importante na carreira de Shyamalan para provar que em momento algum o diretor perdeu a mão dos seus filmes. Por mais simples que a história pareça, a marca do diretor, como cenários claustrofóbicos, personagens simpáticos (por mais perversos que possam parecer) e uma mistura de terror psicológico e um pouco de comédia (para construir momentos tensos durante o longa) rodeiam o filme.

Os dois primeiros atos do filme servem como um teatro. Aqui só temos diálogos entre as sequestradas e o seu sequestrador. De um lado, vemos a construção da personalidade de Casey (Anya Taylor‑Joy), da sua infância perturbada até a formação de uma adolescente problemática. De outro, conhecemos a fundo a mente perturbada de Kevin e suas personalidades predominantes: Dennis, Patricia e Hedwig; este último um garoto de 9 anos.

Mas é em seu terceiro ato que o filme se transforma, fazendo os ávidos pelo suspense suspirarem. Shyamalan transforma seu filme realista e pé no chão em uma obra fantástica ao criar um ser sobre-humano e relacioná-lo com questões religiosas e sociais, tal qual fez em A Vila.

E é neste terceiro ato que a tensão é construída com a ajuda da música. Durante a primeira hora, o filme é silencioso, apenas sendo presente o diálogo dos atores e nada mais. Depois, a trilha sonora se encaixa com os momentos de desespero das três garotas, causando um clima de horror para o telespectador.

Shyamalan sempre soube dirigir muito bem seus atores. A Visita é um exemplo clássico de como o diretor sabe conduzir seus atores para que eles expressem a carisma pelos seus personagens. Em Fragmentado temos as atuações fortíssimas de James McAvoy e Anya Taylor-Joy. É justamente James McAvoy e suas personalidades que entregam toda a carga do suspense. Em uma determinada cena com a personagem de Anya Taylor-Joy, o protagonista muda suas personalidades em um curto período de tempo, trazendo a tona toda a genialidade do ator, como também a insanidade doentia de suas contra-partes. Em contrapartida, Taylor-Joy carrega em si todo o drama e desespero de sua personagem, causando tensão para quem está assistindo.

Embora sua condução até o desenrolar da história seja arrastada, o longa traz consigo um dos mais poderosos twists do diretor, e feito de uma forma orgânica e sutil, reinventando o próprio universo criado por Shyamalan.

Com um pé em A Vila, Shyamalan, depois de tantos anos, se reascende com o seu maior “what a twist“* desde Corpo Fechado. Fragmentado é a prova de que o diretor nunca perdeu seu talento para o suspense, e que a simplicidade de uma obra pode ser o seu maior êxito.
