sheets from the manifesto rpgmaker game i was working on. i always liked these. i still do! however i never was able to learn sufficient javascript / rpgmaker javascript vocabulary for my silly job system ideas despite months of effort of effort so the project was put on indefinite hiatus. these still look good i think though. i drew them all on paper with pencil and pen which is rare for me

some memes i made directly referencing the mokou memes i love the mokou memes i dont endorse the politics of the mokou meme artist i dont really know whats going on over there but its not my problem my problem is that i like the mokou memes. the toxicity one isnt referencing the mokou memes its referencing a picture of hamtaro eating seeds i think. i dont remember because it was a minute ago. but i think it was hamtaro eating seeds. i like these drawings though i think i did good. much like an american idol contestant covering a katy perry song in 2008, when it comes to capturing the essence of the original and making it my own, i think i’m done writing this post because i need to go to bed

portrait art for the manifesto rpg thing

these were mostly intended to be placeholder doodles but i do think they have a lot of charm. im a freak who was really into reading the chucklefish game development blogs they used to post like literally all of them since the first ever posts about starbound. and what that means for me is that i like would like every 6 months as a middle schooler from literally the day it was announced chucklefish was working to publish stardew valley i would like obsessively check for updates on stardew valley. i remember anecdotally telling my friend with like exasperated enthusiasm on the playground behind my middle school chorus room in 7th grade that starbound was going to be a video game where there was an infinite number of animals AND guns. and then subsequently explaining what harvest moon was to my friend so that i could explain why i was excited about stardew valley. despite the fact that i had never played harvest moon. it was auxiliary to my enthusiasm for the idea of an infinite, space version of minecraft. and so anyway as a result i developed from my like 12 year old youth a very deep fascination with the placeholder portrait and video game graphics of guys trying to make video games. thats the point of this blog post. you like it. i still check to see if witchmarsh is coming out every couple months. i checked like a couple weeks ago.

musubi fantasy toenyal, is to me, my singular best drawing i’ve ever made in terms of like technical craft. i think it is the best cartoon i’ve ever drawn. i drew it really quickly, without reference, and with pen, without a sketch. so it checks the boxes of everything i try to do when i draw to the maximum extent. it references, subconsciously, cat fantasy, a comic by phil elverum from fancy people adventures. it also features shrimp musubi prominently. which is my favorite kind of snack. but most of all i really like how i did the hair. i have had a few drawings ive done that i liked a lot and other ppl didnt seem to think were special really but i dont think any other drawing has been more underrated by other people compared to how much i like it. i am using that as a metric specifically bc when i made it i remember thinking, wow, i cant believe i just drew that, and then like nobody i showed it to reacting. which is fine. but at the time it briefly made me consider: is this not the most perfect drawing i’ve ever made? and then after much reflection i came to the conclusion: it is definitely the most perfect drawing i’ve ever made. i use it regularly as a mental landmark for my other drawings. it is like a checkpoint mario level flag in my brain of like, everything i have drawn since it has been reckoning with it. everything i ever wanted to draw when i was a kid, everything i thought was neat abt like naive skateboard mascot art or captain underpants when i would doodle comic zines when i was 7 is something that i think i captured in this drawing. other drawings i have done i have cared more about other things. like thinking about paintings. but this to me is a perfect drawing for when im thinking about the idea of mac and cheese. which is crazy. because my previous best cartoon i had drawn, in my estimation, was toenail eating mac and cheese. which also, is from a comic i believe is criminally underrated by other people compared to how much i care about it.

which is how i felt for a long time. but then somebody Else got a tattoo of mac and cheese toenail. which is crazy. because for the entirety of my life after i had drawn mac and cheese toenail i had thought to myself “if i was going to get a tattoo of one of my drawings, mac and cheese toenail would be the best one to do”. which is proof magic is real. i believe i deserve an eisner for pimple and toenail do whip its. i believe this because when toenail eats the mac and cheese, it’s very funny. it’s funny because toenail doesn’t know what a whip it is. it’s funny because she wants to eat mac and cheese instead of eat a whip it. and comics are supposed to be funny. when will eisner created his famous, eponymous reward for his invention, “comic books”, he named them comic books because he wanted them to be funny. that’s why people love rorschach and the comedian. and that’s why i deserve an eisner
