#6614 Launch Evac 1 (1995)

lego’s second crash truck is associated not with the airport theme, but with launch command. a little bit of a downgrade from #6440 but still good. 🚀🚀🚀🚀

I probably should have squeezed that into the previous post because it’s a misleadingly good start for this one.

#8280 Fire Engine (1995)

me looking at the thumbnail for this set on brickset: huh, I’m kind of surprised I haven’t seen a technic firetruck before now. wonder why it took them so long?

and here we go. for some reason, in the late nineties lego decided to take town in a new direction. and that direction was directly downward. welcome... to the juniorized zone. I hope you like extremely simplistic construction and headlights painted on slope bricks. just kidding! nobody likes that. I mean look at this. look at this “fire engine.” what the hell is that? zero.

#6554 Blaze Brigade (1997)

our focus here is on firetrucks but just take a moment to look at that 1970s-ass helicopter. the truck is better than #6486, but that’s damning with faint praise. 🚒

#9366 Town Set (1997)

one of those dacta sets with a million things in them. this truck looks like it’s roughly similar to the one from #6554 but I can’t really see it.

that is a van with a light on it.

#2811 Fire and Police Station (1999)

we’re at the point where the duplo fire trucks actually look better than the town ones.

#6464 Super Rescue Complex (1999)

this is the best firetruck we’ve seen from the junior era. which is to say, it’s still not good, but it looks okay from a distance. it consists mostly of a single-piece trailer with a separate big slab of ladder contraption just sitting on it. 🚒

technically we’ve now entered the “city” theme but city proper will come later.

this is apparently from something called action wheelers, which I have never heard of in my life and which appears to be some kind of toolo spinoff.

so I guess this existed? it does look more or less like something you’d see in an old disney cartoon. 🐭🐭🐭

can’t unsee how this is basically just the truck from #6464 with a different payload slapped onto the giant trailer piece. 🚒

Why should reading be instilled in early years?!

It is commonly known that children are very receptive to learning in the early 5 years of their life. They can grasp multiple languages and learn through observation. Even though they may not be able to speak clearly they are capturing information in the brain. The early years are crucial for nurturing a child's reading habits. Most often parents fail to nurture reading in the early years and then later are in awe of their fellow kids who read. They struggle to get their child to read but then it’s often too late. 

So let’s understand why is reading important

Reading enables a child’s brain development 

Connections made during early years last forever with the child. When a parent or family member reads to a child even in the womb, child’s brain cell get stimulated. When consistently and continuously a child is read to, the brain cells start responding by connecting with more brain cells and in turn helps in significant cognitive growth. 

It helps love for learning

Love of learning is not a one time thing. It is something that you work on from early childhood for your child. It takes a lot of consistent effort. Reading triggers the brain cells ensuring child starts to make connections with the new sounds and words. Thus helping in learning new words, sentences and expressions. Better concentrations and strong vocabulary comes naturally to children who had an early start to reading. 

Cognitive and psychological

One of the important benefits of an early start is that reading helps build curiosity, gives an insight in problem solving, visualisation and imagination skills to your child. This enables self confidence boost amongst kids by the time they get to middle school. Role-play, emulating story and it’s character can help child empathise with other children. Problem solving is an essential skill which can be developed with reading. 

Helps in boosting self-confidence

Children can tend to feel a lack of confidence if other kids can read and if they can’t. It can hamper their interest in school, learning any new skill, or other activities. Those who have been read to can easily adapt to new words and languages, therefore, leading to a confident self-image. You can’t be everywhere with your child but you certainly can empower them early on. 

Make reading an everyday routine. Start early. As early as when in the womb. There are innumerable benefits of early reading. Instilling this habit will not only empower your child in more ways than one but you will also be giving them a gift of friendship forever! Someone said, A child who reads is a child who thinks. 

Its not for nothing. Many researchers and studies have concluded that reading helps in an overall development and growth of the child. It may need you to take time out and be patient in the first 3-5 years of your child’s life, but there is nothing more worth your time. The key is in discipline. Make this a habit and routine to read everyday to your child.

see? much better. there are three different options here for what kind of firetruck you want to build and all of them are good even if the ladder ends up looking oddly puny on the big one. also it makes light and sound--sorry, I mean it makes electric. 3️⃣3️⃣3️⃣3️⃣3️⃣

another variation on the same basic fire station accompaniments, now joined by a helicopter but we don’t care about helicopters here, only trucks. there’s a new, more compact hose reel that can retract into the pumper truck, which is a neat trick (not unlike spinning). the streamlined look is odd but it kind of works. 🚒🚒🚒🚒 meanwhile the other truck is solid. 🚒🚒🚒

the offroad truck here is okay. the other truck isn’t really a fire truck so much as it’s a regular flatbed that happens to be fire department operated. not entirely sure how you’d use this to evacuate anyone but /shrug. 🚒🚒🚒
