New Data Shows Why These Countries Are Crazy About SHIB PEPE And DOGE
New Data Shows Why These Countries Are Crazy About SHIB, PEPE, And DOGE https://bitcoinist.com/new-data-shows-why-these-countries-are-crazy-about-shib-pepe-and-doge/ Meme coins may have zero utility, but this reality isn’t limiting demand, especially from fans in the United States, India, and the United Kingdom (UK), a study by CoinGecko on May 3 reveals. Riding The Meme Rally According to CoinGecko, a coin tracker and analytics platform, more United States users viewed trending meme coins than from any other country.  Countries Most Interested in Meme Coins 1. United States 2. India 3. United Kingdom 4. Phillipines 5. Nigeria 6. Australia 7. New Zealand 8. Canada 9. Malaysia 10. Morocco — CoinGecko (@coingecko) May 3, 2023 With a share of 23.6%, translating to over two million views channeled to the top-15 meme coins, enthusiasts from the United States topped the list. India, commanding 20.3% of all views, was second, while the United Kingdom, Philippines, and Nigeria capped the top-5. Following the success of Dogecoin (DOGE) in 2020, when Elon Musk’s support provided tailwinds, the coin soared to as high as $0.75 during the last crypto bull run. Musk is one of the world’s richest billionaires. He also owns Twitter, the social media platform. The wild success of DOGE triggered the release of other meme coins ducha as Shiba Inu, or SHIB rose to record highs in the last bull cycle, further drawing more interest to meme coins. Over the past few months, there have been tens, if not hundreds, of meme coins. However, as of May 2023, DOGE, Shiba Inu (SHIB), Pepe (PEPE), Baby Doge Coin (BABYDOGE), FLOKI (FLOKI), and others are popular, commanding tens, hundreds, and sometimes billions of dollars in market cap.  The sharp expansion of meme coins, as historical data shows, could explain why users are still speculating on these assets.  As an illustration, PEPE, a token launched in mid-April, is trading at $ 0.000000055142 and up 1,833.71% in 16 days. On the other hand, Solana-based BONK is up 582% in four months. Their mega valuation is justified by multiple reasons. For instance, with a market cap of over $25 million, Bonk creators said their meme token came about because they “were tired of toxic “Alameda” tokenomics. Alameda was the trading arm of FTX, a defunct exchange. Solana was backed by Alameda and FTX. SHIB Is The Most Popular Meme According to CoinGecko, Shiba Inu is the most popular meme coin in the United States, commanding a share of 60.7% of all views. PEPE had 11.8% of all views. Other popular tokens are Bonk and Volt Inu.  Meanwhile, there was more interest in Shiba Inu and Baby Doge Coin in India. Shiba Inu was also more popular in the United Kingdom and the Philippines. Even so, there was decent interest in PEPE, Bonk, and Baby Doge Coin.  Interest appeared to diverge in Nigeria, where Floki, ArbDoge AI, and Dogelon Mars are popular. This observation could suggest that enthusiasts in Africa’s largest economy are not aping but closely monitoring less-known meme coins. Despite the strong liquidity position of Dogecoin, the meme coin was only popular in Morocco.  At the same time, Canadians were keen to know more about PEPE. via Bitcoinist.com https://bitcoinist.com May 04, 2023 at 12:21AM

THE OSWALD HANCILES COLUMN
INTER-CONNECTIONS: DEFORESTATION LEADS TO YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT AND DANGEROUS POLITICAL CONFLICTS
" According to data taken from 2000 to 2005, Nigeria (has lost) 55.7 percent of their primary forests... Nigeria has the highest rate of deforestation in the world...From 1990 to 2010, Nigeria halved their forest cover... The annual rate of deforestation in Nigeria is 3.5%... The combination of extremely high deforestation rates, increased temperatures and decreasing rainfall... are all contributing to the desertification of the country. The carbon emissions from deforestation is also said to account for 87% of the total carbon emissions of the country". (Source: Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations).  When I was in Nigeria in 2018, the executive director of the  premier green NGO,  the Nigeria Conservation Foundation, Aminu Kanu, was quoted in local media as saying that Nigeria has lost over 95% of its primary forests. My closest friend in Nigeria, now a communications and outreach consultant for the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) sent a release to me on World Environment Day, June 5, 2019 - raising alarms about rapid deforestation in southeast Nigeria. Is that information relevant to us in Sierra Leone? It is! Let's look at the situation in Nigeria a bit more.
Over 95% of the export of Nigeria - and its GNP  - is  petroleum.  The economics, and politics, of Nigeria, hinges on the export of petroleum. All the fierce competition among the political elite of Nigeria is to get a bigger bite of the petroleum wealth. Nigeria is still ranked among the top ten poorest countries in the world, and over 60 percent of its people still live in poverty.  So, what will happen when the importing countries - like the United States  -  have lower demand for petroleum as man-made Climate Change realities force them to change to 'green energy' and there is less easy money flowing into Nigeria?
Including the frightening situation of rapid deforestation in Nigeria, there is also accelerated desertification in Nigeria. The tropical rainforests are being speedily lost in the South of Nigeria, the desert is rushing to the South  from the North of Nigeria: what will the about 200 million people in Nigeria do as man-made Climate Change worsen their scary environmental scenario?
SIERRA LEONE: MEANING OF DEFORESTATION
Sierra Leone is different from Nigeria only because of its  land size (47,000 square kilometers of land to Nigeria's 900,000 square kilometers of land), and its population size (7 million people to Nigeria's 200 million)... and the lack of an advancing desert (but, with chilling vast swathes of its  land transformed from forests into grassland all over the country, especially in the Northern Province).
Robinson Sesay Snr. (a.k.a. Big Brother) posted in the SLAVE SHIP-FREEDOM SHIP Group 4-Youth thus: "The alarming signs (of environmental degradation) are clearly being  seen, even in Makeni where I live.  For instance, my childhood neighbourhood was swampy; now no water around absolutely; and we are yet to see the rain. If checks are not put in place, this crisis... risks million of lives (being prematurely lost). Progressives (should) concentrate on matters of nature, not party politics".
Edward O. Conteh, Jnr. also writing in the  SLAVE SHIP-FREEDOM SHIP Group 4-Youth forum, posted these words: "You go to the North and see the devastation going on in timber logging. That policy is as crude as the black man's civilization. No more forest in that part of the country, thereby worsening (ecological, agricultural, and economic...) situation...". There is reported to be intensified logging in Koinadugu and Karene districts in the Northern Province by largely Chinese companies. The last remaining forests in the Northern Province are only left in those two districts.  It appears as if some people want to completely destroy what remains for the barely manageable  livelihoods of the majority of already poverty-stricken people in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone.
If you have any sense of environmental degradation, you would cry when you drive through districts in the Northern Province -  like Kambia, Bombali, and Tonkolili. You see largely grass!! What does it mean?
It means that with the forest cover gone, the soils have been made largely sterile. There is less agriculture yield for those who choose to do farming.  Most youth choose not to continue farming on largely sterile soils. They migrate to the cities - Makeni, Freetown, Bo, Koidu, Kono, Kenema. But, especially Freetown.
In Freetown, they squat on any land available.  They cram in slums.  They engage in largely petty trading. They spend what little money they earn on fine clothes. They 'produce' babies. They are producing children who have to live tomorrow as adults; but they are living  today as if there is no tomorrow. The National Medium-Term Development Plan (NMTDP) of the Bio Administration published in January, 2019,  states that Sierra Leone has one of the fastest population growth rates in the world  - at 4.3 percent growth rate between 2004 and 2016, the population of Sierra Leone spiked from 5 million people to 7 million people within about a  15 year period.  The governing elite appear oblivious to this connection between deforestation in the country, spiralling population growth and massive youth unemployment... AND the politics of the country.
Apparently, Bintumani III did not make these interconnections: loss of forest cover leads to increased migration to cities; youth in cities have higher expectations and demand more from government; but in cities, they produce very little. Their expectations are fuel in the fire of political disenchantment of youth.
The educated elite are obsessed with  getting the best jobs in cities.  Jobs they expect government to miraculously create.  Sierra Leone gets almost all its foreign currency through exports of diamonds, iron ore, titanium, bauxite.... Over the past fifty years, foreign currency earned by Sierra Leone  have not been used to create industries; not even agro-processing facilities.  It would be used to import largely consumables  - from imported orange juice, rice, toothpicks, clothes... to cars,  and marble for mansions by the rich. All the intense  political conflict between the two parties that have governed  Sierra Leone since 1957, the APC and SLPP have been competition for government jobs; the  poisoned and ferocious political  conflict between  Southeasterners and Northwesterners... have been  over competition to get jobs  in government   to buy these consumables.  There is almost no political competition between the APC and SLPP  over ideas to generate sustainable wealth.  The tropical rainforests are taken as an infinite resource - like our diamonds and titanium.  They are not.
As environmentalists  like us write unceasingly about looming  man-made Climate Change and the nightmarish scenarios being predicted by leading scientists and credible scientific institutions around the globe, the bureaucratic elite and political elite cocooned in their air-conditioned offices and posh homes in the mountains of Freetown  act as if the urgency we write about is far removed from their comfort zones. We have to raise awareness on these interconnections before there are more conflicts and social and political explosions all over Africa; a relapse to a civil war in  Sierra Leone.
At the United Nations General Assembly in 2018, Nigeria's president, Retired General  Muhammadu Buhari,  said that environmental degradation in Northern Nigeria have been a primary cause for  the Boko Haram insurgency there;  and a catalyst for  the violence in  Northern Cameroon, and Southern Chad. Credible scientists are predicting a dramatic increase in violent conflicts in Africa, and wars, as man-made Climate Change forces mass movements of people.
Africa must go into Green Preventative War Mode....! That's why I have been making  this 'war cry': "$2trillion annually for man-made Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation measures in Africa from the richest nations of the world". No country in Africa can mobilize the financial resources necessary to take timely mitigation and adaptation measures when man-made Climate Change gains momentum. Africa is not asking for aid. Africa has to demand Reparations for over three hundred years of the Atlantic Slave Trade.  Another thing:  demand for equity in the global economic arena can help to prevent worse case scenarios for Africa. My $2trillion demand from the richest nations of the world to Africa  may appear outlandish.  But, it's the best option out for Africa. It's not a panacea, but, it would enhance billions of trees being planted by Sierra Leoneans and Nigerians, and other Africans; including other green measures to be taken.
To the media: widely spread these  green messages I put out . Sierra Leone, and Africa,  are on a precipice.
On the Christiane AMANPOUR talk show on CNN, on June 4, 2019, the now world-famous 16 year old Swedish environmental crusader, Greta Thunberg, typically lashes out at adults in control of the politics and economics of the world who are "...stealing our future and selling it for profit". The soft-spoken Swede  warns: "We will not let you get away with it anymore".  We, the greens, the enlightened, will not let you get away with it anymore!  The almost entirely over 50 years of age  political class in Africa  - including the President of Sierra Leone, Retired Brigadier Maada Bio-   are being  warned to ride the green wave or they are certain to be swept aside by a 'green youth-tsunami' building up.  That's my message for WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY - June 5, 2019.
I pause,
Oswald Hanciles, The Guru.

The Latest: Nigeria urges vaccine to be available to all | World News
Tumblr media
UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The Latest from the U.N. General Assembly (all times EDT):
8:15 p.m.
The president of Africa’s most populous country, Nigeria, is calling for the “uninhibited supply of safe and effective coronavirus vaccines for all.”
African nations have been outspoken in seeking the equitable distribution of any COVID-19 vaccine, while watching anxiously as some of the world’s richest countries strike deals with pharmaceutical companies to secure millions of doses of potential vaccines.
President Muhammadu Buhari warns that if the United Nations can’t marshal an inclusive response to the pandemic, then it “would have failed in its core mission of giving expression, direction and solution to the yearnings of the international community.”
The U.N.’s health agency, the World Health Organization, has said Africa should receive at least 220 million doses through an international effort to develop and distribute a vaccine known as COVAX.
But Africa’s top public health official has said the continent needs at least 1.5 billion doses, enough to cover 60% of the population for “herd immunity” with the two likely required doses.
———
6:55 p.m.
Argentine President Alberto Fernández is asking the world to think beyond creating a vaccine that will help end the coronavirus pandemic.
In his prerecorded speech to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, he challenged leaders to use the health crisis as a moment of inflection to find solutions for other scourges as well.
He says the world needs to “be capable of dreaming and creating a vaccine against social injustice, environmental destruction and discrimination.”
The center-left president also urged leaders to treat an eventual COVID-19 vaccine as a global public good accessible equitably to all countries.
Fernández said the planet is facing an “historic opportunity” to unite and that international cooperation “like we once knew how to do” is the only path forward.
His call echoes that of other Latin American leaders pressing for more solidarity among nations that have largely faced the pandemic on their own.
Argentina ranks 10th worldwide in the total number of COVID-19 cases. Some 640,000 have been diagnosed, and nearly 13,500 have died.

5:40 p.m.
As the world’s leaders gather remotely this year for the U.N. General Assembly, something else looks unusual: All of the speakers on the first day are men.
As the schedule goes, it will take some 50 speakers before President Zuzana Čaputová of Slovakia gives prerecorded remarks Wednesday afternoon.
According to tradition, Brazil speaks first and the United States second at the U.N. gathering. After that, the world body says, “the speaking order is based on the level of representation, preference and other criteria such as geographic balance.”
Just two other women are set to speak Wednesday: Bolivia’s interim president, Jeanine Anez, and Simonetta Sommaruga, president of the Swiss Confederation.
Incidentally, the U.N. has never had a female secretary-general, though a spirited campaign pressed for one ahead of the selection of current U.N. chief Antonio Guterres.
———
5:10 p.m.
Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi used his speech to the U.N. General Assembly to call for reforms at the world body, including finding new ways for countries to adhere to its resolutions and expanding the Security Council to better represent African nations.
In prerecorded remarks Tuesday, the leader of the Arab world’s most populous nation also slammed the international community for continuing to “turn a blind eye” to countries that support terrorism. While not naming any nation specifically, he accused countries of sending foreign fighters to neighboring Libya under the aim of “colonial illusions.”
In the past, El-Sissi has threatened military action against Turkish-backed forces in Libya. He again threatened to intervene to protect Egypt’s western border, warning that any breach “will be fiercely faced by Egypt in defense of its people.”
Libya has been plagued by chaos since a NATO-backed uprising in 2011 toppled longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi. The country is split west to east with its major cities controlled by rival governments.
———
4:30 p.m.
Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has defended his drug crackdown and dismissed criticism from human rights advocates as he addressed the U.N.’s annual gathering of world leaders for the first time.
With the coronavirus taking a toll on the Philippines, the often brash Duterte struck a somewhat conciliatory tone about the organization he’s often criticized and at times threatened to leave.
Duterte said in a prerecorded video Tuesday for the U.N. General Assembly that “the Philippines values the role that the United Nations plays in its fight against the pandemic.”
He welcomed the U.N.’s launch of a relief fund and called on the international community to ensure potential vaccines are accessible to all.
He also expressed openness to “constructive engagement” with the U.N.
Duterte often lashes out at what he decries as international meddling in Philippine domestic affairs. Western governments and human rights groups call it justifiable alarm about an anti-drug crusade that’s left over 5,700 mostly poor suspects dead.
———
4:05 p.m.
Colombian President Iván Duque is calling on the international community to reject Venezuela’s plans to hold a legislative election in December.
In a prerecorded speech for the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, Duque called the vote a “manufactured orchestra” that “looks to legitimize the dictatorship.”
He also highlighted a recent U.N. Human Rights Council report accusing Nicolás Maduro’s government of committing crimes against humanity, including torture and killings blamed on security forces.
U.S.-backed opposition leader Juan Guaidó has called on Venezuelans not to participate in the planned election to replace National Assembly lawmakers.
Maduro’s government has taken over several prominent opposition parties and barred numerous anti-government leaders from running.
The socialist Venezuelan leader is expected to address the U.N. gathering Wednesday. He is calling on the U.N. to send a mission to observe the vote.
Though about 60 U.N. members back Guaidó, the majority recognize Maduro.
———
3:45 p.m.
France’s president says the coronavirus pandemic should shock nations into working together — and resisting a world order dominated by the U.S. and China.
Speaking Tuesday to the annual U.N. General Assembly, French President Emmanuel Macron decried the United Nations’ failure to vanquish the virus.
In a video recording from Paris, he said, “No country will come out of this ordeal on its own.”
He says the pandemic should be an “an electric shock” to encourage more multilateral action. Otherwise the world will be “collectively condemned to a pas de deux” by the U.S. and China in which everyone else is “reduced to being nothing but the sorry spectators of a collective impotence.”
Macron also warned Russia to reveal what happened to opposition leader Alexey Navalny and called for a U.N. mission to the Chinese region of Xinjiang, where Uighur Muslims have been held in camps.
———
11:50 a.m.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is the first world leader at the United Nations” annual gathering to mention the Black Lives Matter movement.
“As a country that has known too well the anguish of institutional racism, South Africa supports the demands for swift actions against racism” whether it be perpetrated by companies, states or others, he said in his pre-recorded message to the U.N. General Assembly.
South Africa last year marked a quarter-century since the end of the racist system of apartheid, and Ramaphosa worked closely with Nelson Mandela, the country’s first Black president.
South Africa remains one of the most unequal countries in the world. Like many African nations, it has not escaped the problem of police brutality.
———
10 a.m.
President Donald Trump says the United Nations must hold China “accountable” for failing to contain the coronavirus, which has killed about 200,000 Americans and nearly 1 million around the world.
Trump is accusing China of not sharing timely information with the world on the new disease in a taped address to the virtually gathered United Nations General Assembly.
Trump says: “The United Nations must hold China accountable for their actions.”
Trump is also using his address to tout a pair of recent international accords he helped to broker— one between Kosovo and Serbia and the other between the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Israel — as the United States “fulfilling our destiny as peacemaker.”
Trump has repeatedly used his appearances at the international gathering to oppose “globalization” and promote his “America First” foreign policy. His 2020 address is not different, as he admonished other nations that “only when you take care of your own citizens, will you find a true basis for cooperation.”

Gizmodo and the Liberal World Order Decepticons Here’s another good one for you. Gizmodo is now sure that Vladimir Putin and his Russian minions created a veritable network powered by Twitter Decepticons aimed at presidential candidate Hillary (Mrs. Optimus Prime) Clinton. Here’s an initial look into who is really manipulating social media for evil. Now that the Trump-Putin conspiracy to turn the U.S.A. into a satellite of a new U.S.S.R. has been proven to be a hoax, it appears the liberal world order is turning up the stinky gas on Mr. Putin. Using a report provided by American cybersecurity company Symantec, Gizmodo was just sold to Great Hill Partners, an equity and venture capital fund run by CEO Christopher (Chris) Gaffney, who also happens to be the Director at Ikon Science Limited in the EU. Pertinent to my “Decepticons” introduction, Ikon Science has joined the National Oceanography Centre, Shell, BP and OEAGHG in an initiative to close the gap on the missing research available for Carbon Capture and Storage. Please digest this tidbit for a moment. Now that you suspect Gizmodo of pumping out propaganda against Russia’s energy and growth initiatives, let me add more fuel to any outrageous globalists fires I may have rekindled. An even more fascinating tidbit about Icon Science is the company’s dealings with a North Sea oil exploration outfit called Oilexco, which supposedly received (get this) 1 million barrels worth of oil in a program that led to supporting the regime of Sadaam Hussein. Back in 2004, the head of Oilexco, Arthur Millholland was under investigation but denied any culpability in such a program. Today, Millholland is in Nigeria at play for Canadian Overseas Oil. Even the U.S. State Department’s Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty reported that every major and minor oil company in Iraq participated. Only the CIA broadcast network pointed the damning finger at Russian companies instead of our British and Canadian friends. Much has been claimed with regards to Twitter accounts like the @TEN_GOP banned by the social network. Gizmodo, POLITICO, and other elitist controlled media attempted to loop as many so-called “bot accounts” as they could to the independent St. Petersburg, Russia operation deemed “The Agency” by The New York Times’ Adrien Chen. On these points, as a specialist in social media and geopolitics, the ludicrousness of the Russian meddling connections are sad/hilarious. I was labeled one of the top so-called “Kremlin Trolls” back when the Euromaidan coup erupted in Kyiv, Ukraine. The idea that a cohesive Russian influence attack cannot be taken seriously. My book on the subject, Putin’s Praetorians sheds light on the real dissenters against westward NATO movement and Big Brother. You can trust in this, as a first adopter of every social media platform ever launched if Vladimir Putin was ordering Trump into office my social media accounts would be stronger than Lady Gaga’s. People who do not know what they are talking about are pulling the proverbial wool over the public’s eyes. Twitter “bots” are a function of shady digital business, more than espionage tools so-called “experts” suggest. The problem with Washington’s, London’s, Paris’, and Berlin’s troll theories is shortsightedness. Look at this. Since the creation of startups like MySpace, the now-defunct Netscape (later Propeller), Digg, Facebook, and another 200 failed ones, digital experts and marketing gurus have sought to manipulate the users of social communities. I know because it was part of my job description as a technology writer to evaluate them. Later on, PR and marketing companies solicited me to take a more active role in “influencing” these communities. Since 2008, when a noted technology celebrity suggested I start a PR firm on the merits of my expertise, social media has been a key to the success of my companies and those which we represented. Russian business people, even officials, are not doing anything western business and government have not already perfected. Take my word, or leave it, Russian social and digital strategy is a billion lightyears behind what APCO Worldwide, Waggener Edstrom, and other huge PR firms meet out. I know this because we were a part of the ecosystem that “trained” the big firms to migrate to digital. But let’s move on to a simpler subject, the idea those pesky Ruskys are deploying their Decepticons against the innocent simple people. To simplify my story here, if the reader will simply Google the “Top Twitter bots,” he or she will find listed Twitter growth tools like TweSocial, the tweet bot Jarvee, and dozens more designed to help marketers expand following, reach, and so forth. You can trust that anything that is massively popular in social media was paid for, even including that viral video with millions of views. The geniuses that advise the U.S. Congress and parliaments in Europe cry about alleged Russian bots, when American marketers praise lists and lists of Twitter accounts they say social media “loves” – take the 1.1 million Tweets of @RealHumanPraise and a line of automated #PraiseFOX Tweets. Another bot account that Tweets other bot messages still posts the popular vote difference in between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump to selected #hashtags like #Istillcantbelieve #NeverForget, #BabyPresident, Impeachment, and so on. Somebody in the liberal world order camp must have failed to unplug the automatic Hillary weeping. The problem with all these “investigations” is that there is no objectivity. The alleged “researchers” are only looking for ammunition to support their narrative. From the U.S. Congress to Number 10 Downing Street, nobody wants to hear the truth – leaders only want the PR hook. It’s high time our leadership employed some authentic expertise, gurus who can answer the question “Why is a service called discoverbot.com recommending the best Twitter bots to follow?” Better still, why aren’t super cybersecurity companies reporting to Washington on the 15% of Twitter users shown to be bots by the likes of Mozilla and others? The people voted to represent us in government, the businesses that get them elected, the entire bureaucratic spaghetti mess running the world cannot even grasp how EVERYBODY is gaming the system. Here’s a description that shows how sophisticated these bots can be. This shows the blatant, out in the open arrogance of companies aligned with marketing in the west. Tweet Attacks Pro just comes out and advertise circumvent Twitter rules. “After following the people, the bot will then unfollow the non-active users or those who did not follow back. By doing this, the bot will be hardly detected as it operates just the way other humans operate, but it does it effectively without consuming your time.” I could spend the better part of a month laying out how unscrupulous marketers, content distributors, shady bloggers and journalists, and 1,000’s of companies in the digital space game the social media system, as well as the traditional media spectrum. Instead, I suggest the reader do his or her own research. Like I said previously, the idea that anybody in power is really relying on objective research is a joke. Take the case of Amazon using bots to influence public opinion and decisions concerning their low wage to workers. The reader has not heard of this “influencing” effort by the world’s richest man’s company, I know. We live in a world where the Democratic National Convention can be rigged, and when the manufactured villain of the day is to blame. The “pot calls the kettle black” on the front page of the New York Times, and nobody in America cares. The easiest deception of all is to operate in plain sight while convincing the victims that a manufactured enemy is to blame. Think about all this until our next research into who really manipulates social media for evil.

Check Out Top 5 Most Successful States In Nigeria

Nigeria is one of the most developed, modern and rich countries in Africa. Unfortunately, this wealth is spread unevenly across all the states. Some states are doing really well and bring in a lot of money into the Nigerian budget, while others are far behind in economics. Which makes it rather easy to tell, which state is the richest state in Nigeria. So, if you’re interested in this information, here is a list of the richest states in Nigeria. To determine the richest state in Nigeria 2017, we will rate them by their GDP – Gross Domestic Product. It is an index, that shows the sum of the value of all the products the state has produced over the year. So, based on this criterion, here is a top of the richest states:
1. Lagos state ($33.679 billion)
This southwestern state is rather small (about 3,600 km2), and yet it is the richest state in Nigeria. Even if it was an independent country, it would have the fifth largest economy in Africa, and it is still growing. Although the state has its capital situated in Ikeja, its financial and cultural center is situated in Lagos – one of the biggest metropolises in Nigeria, its population exceeds 15 million people.
Tumblr media
2. Rivers state ($21.073 billion)
Rivers state is the second most wealthy state in Nigeria, mainly because of the oil and gas industry. Large oil sources, first found in Oloibiri, made it the richest oil state in Nigeria, while its capital, Port Harcourt, has become a major center of its export. This southern state produces more than 60% of the oil in Nigeria. This production led the state to create a great infrastructure and to further develop the industry.
Tumblr media
3. Delta state ($16.749 billion)
This state is one of the richest states in Nigeria because it has both developed oil industry and a great agricultural industry. It is also located in the south of the country, meaning that it has an open outlet to the sea. This makes the business in this area much simpler, which leads to such a high GDP there.
Tumblr media
4. Oyo state ($16.121 billion)
Oyo state is known to be a crossing-over point of a lot of financial operations. The first university in Nigeria is located in its capital, Ibadan, which has obviously helped to raise the state’s status and prosperity. The first skyscraper was also built in this beautiful city, which marks all the craftsmen and overall talented guys, that come from this region.
Tumblr media
5. Imo state ($14.212 billion)
Imo is another oil state, which is obviously a profitable business. Another great source of income for this state comes from its capital Owerri. It is known as an entertainment center, and it is filled with beautiful hotels. It is also a trading center of the state, known for various agricultural product commerce.

THE OSWALD HANCILES COLUMN
Climate Change War & the African’s Inferiority Complex
All sane national leaders, religious leaders, business leaders…. now agree that  Climate Change is an existential threat to the human race.  Is US President Donald Trump not sane then? Trump has  pulled  the United States out  of  the 2016 “Paris Agreement” (The Paris Agreement  is  within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), dealing with greenhouse-gas-emissions mitigation, adaptation, and finance. It was signed by 196 countries in 2016. The Paris Agreement's long-term goal is to keep the increase in global average temperature to well below 2 °C above pre-industrial levels: this could substantially reduce the risks and effects of Climate Change).  Trump trumpets the need for “America First” (Read: to sustain the American lifestyle of GLUTTONY), while justifying the United States’ continual use environmentally-unfriendly fossil fuels.  In the Climate Change War Trump is the enemy.  To me,  Climate Change’s ramifications for Africa  is another intensification of the physical war, psychological war, economic war…  that Europeans/Americans have waged on Africans for about 600 years now – starting with four centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade, almost a century of European colonialization of Africa; and the skewed global economic systems  rigged against Africa that African countries have been coerced to be part of. Yoked by chronic inferiority complex, the response of Africa’s leadership to the nightmarish scenarios being predicted for Africa is one of begging the West, hoping that through spasmodic speeches in international fora, the conscience of the West would be touched, and the West would dramatically change centuries-old mindsets and economic systems.
Africa’s “Begging” War Strategy “Most crises usually have a variety of festering causes and effects. It is the failure to address them early and effectively that lead to out-of-control conflicts....”: those were the words of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Retired General Muhammadu Buhari, at the 73rd General Assembly of the United Nations at New York.
Buhari  at the UN in 2018 said: “... Climate change remains one of the greatest challenges of our time. Very close to us at home, it is our lot in Nigeria, together with our neighbours around the Chad Basin, to live with the climate change consequences of a drastically shrunk Lake Chad and the parching up of otherwise fertile arable lands…. (Lake Chad’s) shrinking meant loss of livelihoods and they are now rendered poor and vulnerable to the activities of extremists and terrorist groups. The instability thus caused in the sub-region intensified internal displacements leading, among other consequences, to intense economic competition especially between farmers and herdsmen…”
Many credible Nigerian analysts are likely to be derisive of Buhari’s citing of Climate Change as a “root cause” of the festering violence in the Northeast of Nigeria.  They could cite as “root cause” the 50 years of Northern  Hausa-Fulani domination of Nigeria’s politics; the near-institutionalized  predatory lifestyle of the Nigerian political elite which Buhari has futilely tried to tame; and the governing  elite’s crude insensitivity to the plight of the majority, that which has resulted in about 60% of Nigeria’s 200 million people  living in poverty today, making petroleum-rich Nigeria “the poverty capital of the world”.   For Africa to have the moral authority to  demand  the urgently-needed massive  Climate Change funding from the West and China  - my ideological demand is “$2 trillion annually for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation measures  in Africa from the richest nations of the world”  -  the Big Lies being spouted by too many of  Africa’s leadership must be burst:  bad governance; Political Tribalism; corruption, etc. must be part of the enemies within Africa to be fought  in the Climate Change War.
President Bio on “Renewable Energy” “…(Sierra Leone)…  needs public and private investment for commercial and industrial use, powering hotels, agriculture, and small-scale manufacturing. My country is endowed with significant renewable energy resources in solar irradiation, coastal and offshore wind, minihydro, and bioenergy... My government is seeking collaboration between local companies and US engineering companies that have proven experience in working on PowerAfrica funded LNG-Power projects in Africa…”: the  words of Sierra Leone’s President, Retired Brigadier Maada Bio, at the same United Nations  meeting addressed by Retired General Buhari.
Just after the UN Assembly in New York in 2018, an  American  journalist interviewed President Bio in the US. She asked about commercial logging which is resulting in the   rapid loss of Sierra Leone’s tropical rainforests.   President Bio responded that the loss of tropical rainforests because of commercial logging  would be mitigated by significant reforestation programme.  I was shocked by the President’s ignorance on issues that touch on the tropical rainforests.  Some 60% of  world’s genetic materials are found in tropical rainforests.  One tree in, say, Koinadugu District, can be host for twenty to fifty species.  When you chop down that one tree, you destroy the home for all the other species that would be dependent  on it. You cannot just say in a cavalier manner -  like the Chief Minister in the Bio Administration, Prof. David Francis, has been saying -  “Cut one tree and plant three trees”:  for the genetic materials lost in one tree in the tropical rainforests  could take hundreds of years to return, likely, they could be irreversibly lost. Guess what? It is the genetic materials in our rainforests that can be used as ‘bargaining chips’ for the other needs of Sierra Leone that Sierra Leone is asking for assistance for: that has been my thirty-years-long ideological thrust.
The Chronic Inferiority Complex of the African
Africans burdened by centuries of inferiority complex  are less likely to believe what I write, or, take action on my writings.    Since the early 1980s when I waded into environmentalism while in Liberia; since 1987 when I was the brain/CEO of the Save My Future Conservation Society in Liberia; then in green projects in Nigeria and Sierra Leone in the 1990s,  my ideological emphasis has been to use the reality of global warming to seek  redress  for the four centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade; to stimulate justice in the global economic systems that have been  rigged against Africa.
“... Climate change represents a nightmare scenario for the future of the people of the world's poorest continent (Africa!), according to the official preparing a top-level report… (The Stern Review) states ….Small rises in temperature and reductions in rainfall could 'tip the balance' and lead to severe water shortages and reductions in crop yields… These could fall by as much as 30 per cent by the 2050s…..Sir Nick's remarks comes on top of one by…Christian Aid, which suggested that up to 182 million people in sub-Saharan Africa could die of diseases directly attributable to climate change by the end of the century…”(SOURCE: Climate change will be catastrophe for Africa http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/climate-change-will-be-catastrophe-for-africa-478375.html; written by Paul Vallely ; Monday 15 May 2006).
A 2017 Thompson Foundation report warns that  “Africa is  at highest risk of major economic blow from future climate threats”: “Countries most dependent on agriculture are at risk of experiencing changes over the next 30 years and face the biggest costs with the effects of the extreme weather, according to a global climate index…. Sub-Saharan Africa is home to 17 of the 20 countries most economically reliant on  agriculture in the world”. The National Medium-Term Development Plan (NMTDP) of the Bio Administration launched in January, 2019, states that about 60% of the workforce of Sierra Leone is in agriculture; and agriculture constitutes 65% of Sierra Leone’s GDP. These African countries also “lack the resources” to cope with Climate Change caprices.  Another thing, while agriculture yields are predicted to nosedive, the figures on those  who must be fed would spike. The aforementioned Report states:  “Countries which are most exposed to climate change are also those projected to experience the greatest growth in population between 2015 and 2050, Verisk Maplecroft said. (SOURCE: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-agriculture-climatechange-idUSKBN14802K). According to the NMTDP, Sierra Leone’s 3.2% growth rate is one of the highest in the world. Climate Change Apartheid
“ The world is on course for ‘climate apartheid’, where the rich buy their way out of the worst effects of global warming while the poor bear the brunt, a UN human rights report said on Tuesday (June 25, 2019)…. President (Donald) Trump has …presided over an aggressive rollback of environmental regulations, and is actively silencing and obfuscating climate science," Alston wrote. (SOURCE: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/world/in--climate-apartheid---rich-will-save-themselves-while-poor-suffer--un-report-11660530).
In the August 18, 2019 edition of the “GPS” show on CNN by Fareed Zakaria, former Irish President, Mary Robinson, said this: “The rich pollute; the poor pay”.  Robinson  called for global justice.  In GREENLOVE magazine published by SAMFU in 1987, the cover story I wrote as Editor called for a “Marshall Plan” for Africa. ‘Nar thirty year ar done take way are dae tuk en rite di  thing way waiteman dae tuk tidae. Una yeri now O!!’
African demands courageous leadership and bold vision.  Even if Africa adopts the best of environmentally-friendly ways – like planting trees; by using environmentally-friend energy, etc. – the urgency and magnitude and COMPLEXITY  of the Climate Change problems would mean hardly any country in Africa have the financial and intellectual resources to put in place  Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation measures in proportion to the complex challenges.  Africa must unite.   What the Bio Administration has embarked on –  revoking some foreign mining licenses to bring Justice and equity in the mining industry – can ONLY be sustainably successful when the issue is addressed by a UNITED  POSITION OF AFRICA.
In a war, there are enemies and friends.  In the Climate Change War, the enemy is not as obvious as it was during the Second World War when the Allied nations of Britain, Russia, France, United States… had visible enemies of Germany, Italy, and Japan. The enemies in the Climate Change War are amorphous – they could be US President Donald Trump, or, the presidents of Nigeria and Sierra Leone; or, a predatory elite who think they could escape the worst effects of Climate Change  by being lukewarm in providing leadership for  environmentally-friendly action. Or, the enemy could be the IDEAS  that have gotten humanity to the Climate Change precipice – ideas of racial superiority; ideas of racial inferiority among the black race; ideas of zero-sum-war-game of capitalism.
