The Misterican Military || The Royal Knights
Tumblr media
The Misterican Military is consistent of what they refer to as "The Royal Knights" and they're referred to like this because they answer only to the Crown. In other words, which ever King or Queen is currently reigning over the Kingdom is who they answer to directly. At the end of Misterica's days, that was Lord Helakanpunainen Aurinko - King of the Eclipse and the King that managed to bring about the Tuuli-Sumu Tulitauko or Wind-Mist Ceasefire, bringing the war to a pause so that no fighting between Misterica and Windaria was allowed to take place.
Furthermore, during the Age of the Summit when the Kuoleman Tuojan Sota (Death Bringer's War) was active, the reigning King was Lord Karmiininpunainen Huippu, and his family before him.
The currently leader of the Royal Knights is one, Kenaarli Sininen Taivas, who also happens to be prime soul bind to Lord Aurinko. He is the highest ranking member of the military and that also means he is insanely powerful. The Royal Knights were a forced to be reckoned with all things considered.
All members of the Royal Knights are Mist Mythics, meaning they can access the use of Mist based magics. However, while most are, not all Royal Knights are Summoners. Most combative Knights possess the skill for summoning while Medical and Support type Knights do not. That being said, even though Mist Bottles are largely used for summoning, all Knights keep some on their person in order to have mist on hand at al times in case of emergency situations.
Royal Knights are highly trained members of Misterican Society not only in combat but also in flight. They need to completely 10 years of flight training (an additional (5) five) compared to the standard five that the average citizen needs to attend. This is because in these additional years they are taught extreme control over their bodies in flight and also a multitude of emergency and rescue operations that can be performed in the sky for sick or wounded Mistericans while in air.
Furthermore there is an even less common section of Royal Knights that are considered the truly elite that can soul tap. Not every member of the Royal Knights can do this but those that care are extensively trained to do so. Not every Knight who carries the power of the Mythic can soul tap, but every Summoner can.
Soul tapping takes years of training to master and there are a few civilians that can soup tap but they are largely untrained. Being able to access the power of one's soul is largely believed to be tied to the Gods themselves so it's considered an extremely honored skill to have.
That being said, these individuals that have enlisted in the Knights work to maintain the peace and prosperity of the Kingdom through maintaining the city security in the same fashion as we would see police officers do so in human society. They also are stationed through out the palace for security purposes and work to assist the Royal Family directly.
The Church, while it does hold governmental power - cannot command any member of the Royal Knights and they are to answer only to the Crown and to the Crown only.
The management of the military is one of the powers that extends only to the Royal Family and as such it makes most members of the Royal Knights, while still religious, extremely bias when it comes to the disagreements and power clashes that happen between the Crown and the Church.

@muses-of-kira asked:
tuulta, tell us more about yourself! whose your friends? your family?
Tumblr media
"I'm truly not all that interesting," he replies. "My parents were good people even if I didn't know them well. They were busy, often. I ended up becoming a Knight at the earliest possibility because there was a shortage of medics - my initial plan was to be a doctor. That did end up working out, obviously, after the ceasefire.
I became friends with Shokki early on. And he eventually met Tuli, and they bonded - I still have yet to meet anyone more in love than they were. Shokki eventually had a little boy named Sinfonia, and not long after we both were sent back to Windaria.
Shokki didn't make it home. He asked me to take care of his family. So I do... best I can. I love them more than anything, especially the longer I know them. They've been around for me and done more than they know.
Friends, of course I have... anyone I served with in Windaria for the most part. Varjo, especially - he's a good man. Joki, Taivas - Taivas' boy Aurinko is basically like my own too. And now he's got boys of his own... The whole palace and most of the Knights are my family, to me. I'm quite fond of Leimahdus, Kesä, and Hiillos as well."

A Knight's Thoughts || Accepting
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Kenaarli Taivas is a good man. Probably one of the best of us and I have great respect for him. I did before I became a bind, and now that I work so closely with him I - I would consider him close family and in a way he is. There is a hierarchy within the space of the military but there is a much smaller more intimate one within the space of the primes.
Primes are the first soul bind assigned to every member of the Royal Family, so currently there are four of us. Kristalli is a bit complicated on that front because while she is prime, she is also singular as she's Lady Kuu's only bind. She doesn't have any co-binds beneath her.
As primes, we're in charge of the well being of our Liege but we're also in charge of our co-binds. For example, if Sielu has a problem - he would report to me. Sinfonia would report to Safiirin and Tuli would report to Taivas. Advisor - Teacher binds report to their respective prime first and foremost.
It gets a little complicated because the hierachy of primes you would think would be Taivas, then Kristalli, then Safiirin then me as I am prime to the youngest son but it's not.
It's actually Taivas, then me, then Safiirin, then Kristalli.
Kristalli has no reports, so our reports would go to her last. Taivas bound when Aurinko was a boy, so he is the highest of the Primes, I bound to Pilvi when he was an infant, so I'm next in line and Safiirin bound when Usva was seven, so then she comes in line.
So say Sinfonia for example is having a problem that Safiirin can't solve. He's supposed to come to me with it. If I can't solve it, he's supposed to go to Taivas, or I can bring it to Taivas myself.
We're all bound in a way as Primes. Never did I think I would get to work with Kenraali Taivas so closely. I have got to know him on a much more personal level and I have seen the look in his eyes when he looks at Aurinko and Sinfonia. He gets a softness in his eyes when he looks at them. He gets that same softness when he looks at Pilvi and Usva too.
He's let the boys climb all over him, ever since they were small and I've seen him carry both His Majesty and Sinfonia when they were tired or feeling ill. I know he feels for them the same way I feel for Pilvi and Usva. We're - family and I care quite deeply for him. When I lost my family to the war, I was prepared to be alone for the rest of my days but I found myself in the palace thanks to him and in turn with the family I never thought I'd ever have so for that I'm eternally grateful. - Sitriini Sinfonia -
♫ The Symphonic Soul ♫
Tumblr media
⋯✧・♪♫♪・✧⋯ Sitriini Sinfonia is Prince Usva's Music Instructor but also the most famous musician Misterica has ever known - setting right up in the ranks with his mother Palava Tuli. His music is widely loved and cherished and commissioned by the church often but due to a wrist injury when he was 20, Sinfonia was forced to set down his violin far more than he cares for.
He plays very little in comparison to his youth and has turned to teaching Prince Usva in place of continuing his career as a musician. He was raised in the palace along side Lord Aurinko, as his mother Tuli is one of Aurinko's soul binds and taught the young king music herself. With Aurinko only being 3 years older than Aurinko, Sinfonia sees him more as his older brother than any form of authority figure.
He's a complicated man that is basically adoptive family to the Royal Family. The King being his brother and the prince's his nephews. So it was a well kept secret for many years when Sinfonia soul bound to Prince Usva to take his position as one of his instructors. It wasn't so much against the rules because he wasn't blood but still would have been highly frowned upon and Aurinko might have been accused of favoritism should it have spread too far by the wrong people.
The wrong people being Smaragdin Syksy who found out about this little secret and used it to blackmail Sinfonia into bending to her will. She also was one of Prince Usva's instructors and didn't care for the special treatment Prince Pilvi got as the Child of White. So she blackmailed Sinfonia into "conforming" to the disparaging ways of herself and her views towards how the princes should be handled, including that of their respective soul binds.
It created a rift between himself and his youngest nephew that he fears can't ever be repaired, even when his medical complications came to light after passing out in the palace halls one day due to his heart condition, but with so much going on, it all would come to a head eventually - wouldn't it?
Once Aqua Sielu became involved it seemed his life would change forever.

The Brothers Eclipse
Tumblr media
Punainen Usva and Valkoinen Pilvi were the princes born to Lord Helakanpunainen Aurinko and Lady Ametisti Kuu. Lord Aurinko and Lady Kuu's ruling age was known through the Misterican Kingdom as "The Age of the Eclipse" and as such their sons became known through the Kingdom as "The Eclipse Princes."
Usva and Pilvi were the best of friends from an early age. Usva being four years older than Pilvi would often show up wherever his brother was and steal him from whomever he was with, while proclaiming "He's mine, Mother and Father made him just for me."
No one ever had the heart to take Pilvi away from him.
Usva always felt naturally protective of Pilvi for many years not just because that was his little brother (pikkuveli) but because Pilvi was under so much stress from his position as The Child of White - the prophesied savior of their people.
Pilvi was referred to "The Celestial Mother's Holy Sacrifice" for the majority of his life until he performed the Ritual for the Holy Blade when he was thirteen and then became The Celestial Mother's Holy Vessel. Usva hated all of it simply because he saw his baby brother and not some holy savior.
He was just his idiot kid brother.
Even after the ritual and Pilvi's title change from "Your Highness" to "Your Eminence" the two of them remained as close as could be, even despite the occasional fights they would get into. (And when they fought, they generally came to blows.) It wasn't until the Rites Ceremony to decide who would become King that things took a turn for the worse when, despite not wanting the crown, Pilvi still won the match and earned the right to ascend the throne.
Surely Usva can see it was a fair fight and take his loss with grace, can't he? Surely Usva wouldn't let this come in-between his relationship with his little brother - would he?

The relationship between Lord Helakanpunainen Aurinko and Piipsa Hopea Sumu was strained at best. Both men were effectively the whole of Misterica's government as they were both the heads of their respective halves. Aurinko lead most of the government, as he was Misterica's King and leader of the Royal Family while Sumu handled everything dealing with the religion and spiritual in nature as he was the leader of the Religious Council and Misterica's Church.
Aurinko and Sumu met at least once a week to discuss the well being of their kingdom and how they wanted to proceed in concerns to things like relations with Windaria, the Child of White, and laws and regulations that dictated how Misterica functioned as a whole. Aurinko handled most of these things, including the Royal Knights who were headed by his prime bind, Sininen Taivas.
Sumu handled all things surrounding the church and it's patrons and was considered Speaker of the Celestial Mother, Tiamat - herself. Sumu was also in charge of most festivals and rituals that were religious in nature. The Church was also in charge of all things involving The Child of White - which caused tension between Sumu and Aurinko.
The problem here was that Misterica's religion dictated the Child of White as Misterica's savior of legend and as such Sumu and the Church saw him as a religious artifact and treated him as such, meanwhile The Child of White was also none other than Aurinko's youngest son, Valkoinen Pilvi. This put a rift between the two when Sumu wanted to command the artifact and Aurinko wanted to protect his son.
It caused the two to butt heads often because their versions of what was best for Misterica and her people were vastly different from one another. Yet somehow, one way or another, Sumu managed to get Aurinko to agree with him on most things....

Palava Tuli is one of the kingdom's most talented musicians. She was a resident of the palace far longer than she was a bind to Lord Aurinko as she was good friends with Aurinko's father Lord Huippu. She became a bind to Aurinko when he was 6 years old to teach him music. Three years prior she gave birth to her son, Sitriini Sinfonia and was pleased to see that her son and her liege had bonded like brothers.
When Aurinko took the throne after the untimely death of Lord Huippu, she went from being his teacher to his advisor and took over the department of festival and ritual planning. She's helped guide Sinfonia on his career to become a highly skilled musician in the kingdom.
Tuli is extremely close to Aurinko, her fellow binds and the royal family as she lost her husband to the war with Windaria. She thinks of Aurinko's children, Punainen Usva and Valkoinen Pilvi like her grand children, even though they both call her "Täti Tuli." (Aunt Tuli)
Of all of Aurinko's binds, she is the closest to Sininen Taivas.

Misterican Memories || Accepting

⏰ + Sumu
Tumblr media
─── ⋆⋅ ♰ ⋅⋆ ─── "Smoke him out. I don't care what you have to do to get that little coward to show his face. The kingdom is already crumbling and it is his job to save us. So make him perform his sacred duty. Whatever it takes."
Cold eyes narrow down on the clergymen before him with a frown hanging on pale lips. The Kingdom was crumbling. Misterica in all her glory is falling into the deep dark that is spreading out from the sacred pillar. If something isn't done soon they'll all be lost and that damnable boy is nowhere to be found.
He blames Aurinko for this. He blames Kuu. He blames himself too for not doing something about that wretched woman sooner because if not for her, he could have swayed the King by now and the boy would have completed his duty in battle against the demon gunman.
If not for that, none of this would ever be happening. If not for her, he could have truly taken control of Aurinko ages ago. Then the boy, for as insufferable as he was, wouldn't have been able to refuse him.
He should have been rid of them ages ago. The brat and his mother. Aurinko and Kuu must have whisked the boy to safety because for some inane reason they insist on protecting him. That doesn't make any sense. The boy should be protecting Misterica. The last thing their Holy Savior needed right now or any other time was to be coddled but that wretched woman ruined the Celestial Mother's vessel by giving him independence and choice.
Now the boy thinks for himself and not the greater good. Now the boy thinks of himself as normal, which is the last thing he was in any sense of the word. How dare they take him from his sacred duty at a time like this?!
For being servants of the Misterican people, this is a betrayal at its highest form. The Royal Family should be bowing their heads but instead they have whisked the boy off to hide him from his fate. Undoubtedly those cowards are trying to avoid their duty. This is why his family has been taking on the task of trimming back the rot over these long to be sure that whomever was taking the seat of power was actually befitting of the position.
Misterica should come before all else and that includes their wretched lives.
Aurinko and Kuu were just children when they took the seats of power, and they were never fit to lead. He had assumed that the boy would have been easier to control considering how young their precious King of the Eclipse was when he took on the mantle of their true Lord, but he had that damnable woman on one side and he had Kenraali Taivas on the other. Both of them stepped out of their bounds and became far too much of an obstacle when it called for properly controlling Aurinko’s actions.
Cold eyes can only narrow further as the men before him start to file out of the room a little bit at a time, lips to parting as teeth clench together as silver toned mist floods from between them as he growls.
 “NOW! Find that boy NOW! I don’t CARE what hole you have to drag him out of! His life belongs to Misterica! He’s never had the will to choose his own fate! Drag him out to force him to perform his duty. I don’t care what happens to him, but we’ll all die if he continues to hide like a coward. Burn the kingdom down if you must. It’s already crumbling and it’s all his fault. He’s failed us all and disgraced Lady Tiamat with his actions. What kind of vessel runs from his sacred duty? He was never our Savior to begin with. The prophecy chose the wrong boy.”

Sitriini Sinfonia || Citrine Symphony
Tumblr media
Sitriini Sinfonia is Prince Usva's Music instructor. He comes from a prestigious background and has attended possibly the best musical academies in the kingdom thanks to his mother, Palava Tuli being one of Lord Aurinko's instructors turned advisor.
His musical works have been heavily published and he's known for throughout the kingdom for his musical prowess. He truly is a master at his craft and he has the ego to match it. He has no time for nonsense and is a traditionalist for the way things should be handled and approached when it comes to teaching the craft.
He is strict and tolerates no backtalk from his charge, yet is not afraid to drop disparaging comments about other people within the space of the palace if he believes it is protecting the boy. He is not one for games and believes he is here to get a job done and the job comes before all else.
So he frowns heavily on the way Pilvi's teachers interact with the boy, believing that they give him special treatment and don't work as hard at their jobs as himself and his fellow instructors do for Prince Usva, since Prince Pilvi is the Child of White and already blessed by the Celestial Mother.

Sininen Taivas was bodyguard and prime bind to Lord Aurinko. Taivas joined the knights when he was just a young man in an effort to help with the war against Windaria. He let his troops to victory in countless battles and as such it got him climbing the ranks fast. When he was 34, the current King's son, Aurinko was born as he was assigned to his protection and care. He bound with the boy a few years later when Aurinko turned 7 - thus Taivas becoming Aurinko's first soul bind.
He continued to help with the Knights as much as he was able, and continued to climb the ranks for his accomplishments until the current head of the military was killed in action, and Taivas was awarded the role by Lord Huippu.
Not long after, Lord Huippu fell ill and died young only to leave his son left to take the throne at the young age of 20. Taivas has stood faithfully at Aurinko's side through the entire endeavor, including the ceasefire negotiations with Windaria.
Taivas is an extremely skilled swordsman and one of the best that Windaria has ever seen. He's a masterful Mist Mythic and possesses the rare ability to use all Mist Magics but holds a favor for water and ice. The blade he wields is named Ukkosen Aalto. (Thunder Wave)

for aurinko △ + how can you call yourself a decent king when you can't even protect your child? how is your kingdom supposed to have faith you'll look out for them?
Tumblr media
✩°。⋆☼⋆。°✩ The Solar King's eyes are narrowing on the traveler as they speak and he has to remind himself to hold his calm instead of snarling at them in response. He doesn't need to know which child they mean to know they are talking about Pilvi.
Everyone is always talking about Pilvi.
And he can't make them stop. He can't make anyone look away from his child or give the boy true refuge. Even if he had not been born of the Celestial Mother's color, he was born with royal blood coursing through his veins, so the Kingdom would talk whether he wanted them to or not.
But the talk of Usva is not the same as it is of his brother.
The Kingdom does not speak of the Cloud in whispers as they do the Mist. Usva's existence a hushed silence in the face of all that Pilvi was and would become.
All they hoped he would become.
Pilvi is twelve years old this year and the next year draws in closer with every passing month. Pilvi is twelve years old and he has become such a smart, vibrant, accomplished boy. He has mastered dances he, himself, couldn't even begin to wrap his mind around and the boy has a gift for the arts like he's never seen before. He's an accomplished musician and he's not even a teenager yet.
Pilvi truly is blessed.
Would the Celestial Mother accept him? Would she take him away from them? From him? From Kuu? He fears to think about what the loss of her youngest would do to his wife. While his own heart would be crushed at the loss... Kuu would be ... inconsolable.
So how is the Kingdom supposed to have faith in him when he is failing so miserably as a father to his youngest son?

Tumblr media
⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆ His arms are crossing over his chest as he thinks about and he tries to think of a place in Wonderland that even remotely comes close to how cold home did.
Tumblr media
"No where here requires a cloak." He explains.
"I'm not saying that one wouldn't make a few places more comfortable, but I would only have to pull my cloak out if I went deep into the clouds here. The winter season at home was very cold but it was still my favorite. Performing the ritual was brutal since I was in ceremonial garb and that meant my feet were bare on the ritual stone, but I adjusted as I danced. The more I moved the warmer I got. Still it was so cold that day.
I think the thing I loved the most of the winter season beyond valkoisen syntymää was being able to go vesikävelyä with Opettaja Sydän. That was always so much fun. Mother would watch and sometimes Father would come watch too but he was pretty terrible at the actual act. He tried though. Usva was alright but he was never as fast as I was. Opettaja Vuorovesi though. She could give us a ride on the breeze. She was so good. "

A Queen's Thoughts || Accepting
@dont-call-me-a-lyre asked:
🌙☁️ + 💭 + transition from "commoner" to "royal"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
⋆⁺₊ 。˚☽˚。 ⁺₊⋆ "What a curious question. I wasn't aware that people outside the kingdom were aware of that. I wasn't aware that many in the kingdom were aware of that. You see Aurinko met me in the market when he was out with his guard - Taivas - I'm sure you've met the man, he's a dear really. He's always with my Aurinko so of course you've met him by now.
Aurinko came fumbling up to me with his jaw practically dragging on the ground hardly able to compose a sentence. We were just teenagers. I can still see the glossed over look that covered gold eyes because he couldn't look away from me and his face was as red as his hair. He invited me to come with him to the palace for dinner, to which with the permission of my parents I agreed.
It was a strange adjustment because Royal life is so different from the average Mistericans'. It's different due to our position in relation to the populace. I too, took an oath upon making my commitment to Aurinko to serve the people of Misterica, but it is not the same as what Aurinko feels for it or my boys. I was not raised to drop my horns to those around me, yet my boys do so without question or hesitation. I still haven't decided how I completely feel about it now that I am watching it happen within the space of my sons.
The way the royal court speaks is far more formal that the rest of the kingdom, and we are held to such high standards and expectations. It's easy to look in on the royal family and assume they are just rich aristocrats that want for not but there are many struggles that my family faces now that were the furthest thing from my mind as a child. Struggles I didn't have a clue even existed. Troubles my sons will face for the rest of their lifetimes.
It was an adjustment and some days it still is, but Aurinko is always patient with me and I honestly think it's good for the boys to have someone with a differing perspective in their lives who knows more than just proper table etiquette and how to speak in their language. Their father doesn't know or understand what it is to have a simple life and that's not his fault. So sometimes I feel that it is good that I can bring them out of the clouds and back down to the islands to see how the world really works.
In truth, I can's say I ever truly transitioned. I'm still the same person I always was. I just follow a little bit different set of rules and I don't have quite as much freedom as I once did, but in return I was given my brightest sun, the morning mist and my beloved snow cloud. I wouldn't say I could have a better gift than that."

Would you rather... || Accepting
@dont-call-me-a-lyre asked:
☀️☁️ + would you rather be locked in a room with all of pilvi's teachers for a day or locked in a room with all of usva's teachers for a day? you cannot pick a third option. lady kuu is not one of the options. taivas cannot let you out of the room. no tricks. only two options.
Tumblr media
✩°。⋆☼⋆。°✩ He shifts a moment eyes falling to one side and then the other as he thinks before his arms finally cross over his chest and he looks back to the stranger with such odd options. They knew so much about his life and the names of both his sons. That makes sense he supposes considering their position in society.
Tumblr media
"I supposed I would choose Pilvi's teachers but hear me out for my reasonings before you judge me. I say this because they ... well... speak to me. Usva's do as well but they do so differently. Usva's instructors speak to me as their King and none else. They speak to me as their Lord and the ruler of the King - where as Pilvi's teachers. I am largely Pilvi's father to them before I am their ruler.
They will speak to me openly and equally. They do not speak to me as their Lord as much as they speak to me as a fellow man and a father. They see me beyond my crown. So I think I could have much more lively and open conversation with them as opposed to the others. Usva's teachers all also largely keep to themselves and don't even speak to each other much where as I have noted that Pilvi's binds have meetings and check in on each other often.
Sielu and Sydän are siblings, while Valo, Aamunkoitto and Palo are long time friends. Kukka is Sielu and Sydän's cousin and I believe that they all probably have very interesting stories to tell. I would love to have a day to hear them all and not have to worry about the meetings and toils of the kingdom. Just for one day...though being away from my children and my wife - that would prove quite difficult."
