    " Probably, " Wilford answers all too casually, slipping an arm around Tori's waist. He nestles right on in, resting his head on her shoulder with a little huff. This is all extremely frustrating for him. His own brother, a traitor. And while Mark still exists, making it a not-so-uncommon trope, he's still absolutely appalled.

He can't help but absently watch her screen as she scrolls down it, despite the scrunched up, unhappy look on his face. That doesn't seem to affect how nosy he is.

    " He's talking to that new ego I was telling you about, the uptight one with the-- all the rules? And he got mad at me for not being, you know, blind and noticing he has a crush on him. And then all of a sudden I'm wanted for murder and impersonation and fraud. " Which is a rather scary thought, even if he knows he'll never be properly put away for it.

Or maybe it’s because she’s the first visiter she’s had in months. 

“Anyway,” before she gets too mushy here, “I do appreciate you coming around. It’s nice to meet the other woman.” Oh, don’t worry Tori, she’s joking; Celine accepted William’s moving on decades ago. She’s taking Tori’s hands within both of her own (slightly translucent) ones, shifting a little on the aged couch. “Now, tell me more about these twins, honey- I’m an old broad, I can’t help but love a baby.”

Open houses were the most interesting, weren’t they? It took all types, really... Ethan had just hoped for janitorial staff to show up, but this lady, looking for a job for her fiance (or her fiance’s son, something to that affect).. she just blew the compitition out of the water, didn’t she?

Ell laughs, scooting close with a light yawn. Sure, she was out of her room earlier than usual, but if it meant snuggling up with Tori, she’d be okay with that. “Mm, just happened to be up today. Why? You complaining about cuddles?”

He figured he might as well, since he was going to be up and awake anyway. There’s just too much on his mind to be able to sleep comfortably, even with Tori’s company. Although, he can’t exactly pinpoint why. Something in him just decided it was time to panic. 

     “ It’s a lot easier to do when I don’t have to rush in the morning. “ He sets his knife off to the side for a moment, turning to give Tori his full attention now. “ ... What are you doing up so late, anyway? You’re supposed to be getting your baby rest. “

     Anti quirks a brow at her response, giving a childish little snicker as he looks the woman over. He has to admit to himself, that for such a small thing of a creature she sure was feisty. And maybe, just maybe, the demon is going to take the slightest bit of a step backward to protect what body parts this lady could reach.

The demon holds himself high, enjoying the height he had over her, looming over her smaller frame. He has no reason to be intimidating, other than he just enjoys it of course. If she did hit him, and really who could blame her if she did, well Anti could probably just step on her.

She's even in a relatively good mood still, why does he want to ruin that for her? Maybe they could fake a power outage somehow, and just go through the house in the dark until he's... completely healed and this is all over and done with. Yeah, that's completely feasible. How long does it take to heal a busted lip?

Still, Will manages to let out a half-hearted chuckle with that joke, giving her a light squeeze before falling silent again. Maybe he should start with the worse news and get that over with. " No, no, don't apologize. It's... probably better that you were out for the last few hours anyway. " Stressful night.

    " ... Ordinarily, this might end up being one of the things I tried to hide from you, but I still... I want to try the whole 'open and honest' thing with you. I'm trying to be better. " And truly he is, if only in that aspect, clearly. He falls silent for another brief moment.

   " Today I was... um... I was actually invited to... not... work for the railway anymore. Which is fine, you could just as easily look at it as an invitation to start working elsewhere, which I've been thinking about doing lately anyway, but... " That didn't sound as good as he wanted it to.

Celine’s finally confident enough in Tori- and herself- to move their little talks upstairs. The bedroom is the perfect girl-talk local, after all, with the lavish bedding and the sweet little candles she’s got all over the place (thank you Wilford). Celine’s even just in her dressing gown, to match the casual attitude, a tin of cookies set out on the duvet along with the tray of tea. 

But no matter how lavish and sweet the scenario is, Tori’s attitude is still bitter. Which it should be, given what they’re talking about. Mm. “ I don’t have any responsibilities anymore, and I still feel that way.  Even when I had a butler, I still felt that way. I think us womenfolk just have this... need to be on top of everything. But the truth is, sweetie, that you can’t be. You’ll murder yourself doing that- oh, make sure you have a cookie, honey, I know I can’t eat all these.”

Ooh. Colonel had, more or less, been expecting a reaction like that, though it still draws a slight flinch out of him. Not that he expects her to do anything to him; it's just... jarring to hear her speak like that. Tori doesn't swear at him... ever, really, and up until this point, he wasn't sure if she ever had. This was a bad one - and it should be. His mother's been back for two entire days, and he's... he hasn't introduced her to the love of his life.

    " Tori, no, I would never hide you, don't-- it's not like that. " That's a piss poor excuse. " You've just been busy with work, and she's been off with all her grandkids and Mark and Wilford, and my dad, and... " That's still not much of a better excuse. Will sighs, carding a hand through his hair. He hasn't put his damn hat back on for the entire time his mother's been here.

    " She knows that you exist. I didn't want to spoil anything real without you being present for the... spoiling. I thought we ought to tell her together. " He, almost reluctantly, rests a hand on her shoulder, giving it a squeeze. " I'm sorry, Tori, really. But she's absolutely going to love you.
