♊ — he seemed unfazed by the conversation. half of what came out of his mouth was practically fodder, anyway. all that pent up conversation, saved up over decades in captivity. as for assessing the situation... he knew there was magic in this shop. it made it all the more fun, dancing around his intentions with this special little herb. besides, this part of town? he wouldn't put it past it.

"let's go with that," he said coolly, lip curled up in a suspicious smirk. he paused in front of her counter, idly tapping his finger against its surface. "should suffice. i would hate to have to flame you guys on yelp." he paused, eyeing her up and down in an unsubtle way. "worked here long?" as if to attempt small talk.

         "okay." the comment about the nursery came unexpectedly, she would not consider him as someone who had a child at home or was soon expecting one. however, this was also only a superficial assessment that perhaps did not do him justice. however, verbena for a nursery would be an unusual method of decoration, except, of course, to keep vampires away. was that the real reason? she couldn’t make sense of him, especially as he continued to radiate this strange energy. not magic, no, she wouldn't describe it as the pure, raw form of magic a witch has. it was similar to it, though at the same time also completely untypical.

        "airtight?" diana repeated, "i hope there is no pollen allergy." which should not be a problem because aromatic plants such as verbena are no problem for pollen allergy sufferers. she narrowed her eyes slightly before she went back to her sales counter and laid the bundles gently on top of it. "i can wrap it in a plastic back if that's sufficient enough?" || @humanitycease

Because it never stops being applicable:

Cathy is great. Commencing with her Elijah, since it was the chosen url, she never fails to give me a ton of material to work with (or against, most of the time) and it is always interesting to read some of her insights on the dynamic between our characters. The fact that she focuses the core of her characterization for him on season 2 and 3 of TVD and plays with fragments of his essence that were, if not lost then a tad veiled, in between shows, makes her Elijah a particularly compelling figure. But she is also a chameleon! She always gives each of her characters a very distinctive flavor and their own writing flourishes. Other personal favorites from her repertoire include: Her Gia: The one character Tristan can endlessly ramble about the violin with. Her Diana: Quite a gripping take for a witch who, even being raised by one of the darkest examples of her kind, holds onto those classic servants of nature beliefs. Her Katherine: She gifted Tristan the discovery of a place of power for his witches! As far as Tristan is concerned, she is the one redeemable example of majesty and guile in that wrecked disaster of a vampiric bloodline. (Yes, Lucien. The only exception) And talking about Tristan's witches...This one is purely hypothetical and alluding to an alternate timeline of reality but... Her Ariane: I only recently discovered that she was one step away from writing her once upon a time and I am still stubbornly lamenting what could have been. Selfishly speaking, do you know how rare it is to encounter any Strix-related characters for Tristan to for once not be the worst with around here? Ever? Much less one written by a role-player of her versatility and imagination?

But yes. Cathy is great. And all of her territories definitely deserve your attention.

You are the sea in tempest, a howling sky, a tsunami in motion, a force of nature, no matter how much you sometimes yearn to be still, to be safe, to be small. You are a dandelion, stubborn and determined to grow in the rockiest of soil, and bloom again in spring.

Even after winning the family's wizard competition Alex was still lacking on more than half the knowledge her brother had when it came to magic. A carefree lifestyle had gotten her this far, and changing now seemed like A LOT of unnecessary work? "you can't be a witch, I don't see you with a wand". Her arms folded as she spoke sarcastically once again.

(❤️) @touchedbydestiny has taken some muses that weren't necessarily given a lot of screen time in canon and done a wonderful job of adding to them and fleshing out their stories and proving that just because they're not the main character, it doesn't mean they don't have interesting stories to tell. They do a great job and I especially enjoy their oc Diana!

(❤️) @apex-royalty deserves a shout out simply because while it's not her most popular blog, she writes her little mix of characters with a lot of skill and talent and we love to see it. At some point, Katherine might stop holding Novi hostage and we'll get to see Lexi again.

(❤️) @devilsanddarlings portrays a superb Rebekah and I am thoroughly enjoying our little spur of the moment plot and can't wait to see where it takes them! I loved them as a pair in the show and it's going to be fun to explore them being friends and spending time together in a way we didn't get in canon.

"Ah, none of that "always and forever" spirit with you then." she laughed, a perfectly practiced giggle that radiated warmth despite the calculation beneath it. Even the way that Aurora looped her arm with Diana's gave the appearance of effortlessness though it too was planned. "You ought to be careful though. You have tools at your disposal that most can only dream of wielding, solely due to the ties of your blood. Some things must be turned to one's benefit before they are turned against you." she continued, trying to coax Diana into walking with her."

     distance was the healthiest thing she could do when it came to vampires. that would also include the encounter with aurora, as she seemed to be of the kind of people who actually seemed to have an interest in power – at least that was the preference that diana assumed to hear in this conversation. || @ladamedemartel

Ziva made a little gesture at the paint roller on the ground, “Mind handing me that?” The color that wrapped around it and dripped on the ground was a pale mint green. She just needed to set the scene.

“So, you’re also a member of the family?” Kol’s eyebrows knitted together as he assessed the witch, not sure how to react to her existence, let alone her new presence in his life. He had come because of a family emergency, something far more serious than the usual influx of vengeful supernatural beings, but the last thing he had expected was to be introduced to yet another long lost family witch; the universe clearly thought that one wasn’t enough for Kol to wrap his head around.

She lets Diana work through the question on her own, not wanting to prompt her one way or the other. She's sure that different cultures and covens have called the concept different names but she has to believe that it can be traced to some place beyond the Gemini coven. Witch bloodlines don't just show up fully formed in Portland, Oregon, of all places.

"Kind of," Bonnie hums. It's not exactly what she experienced at Kai's hands, nor is it what the twins can do, but it's a close enough start. "Yes on not being born with innate magic, so they have to siphon or extract or pull out, I guess, the magic from someone or something else." She tries to straddle the line between descriptive enough that it might jog Diana's memory while still being vague to keep the true nature of her query under some mystery.

"Have you ever heard of like... being able to pull the magic out of someone like that? I mean, would there be a limit to how much magic they can absorb? Or could they... kill someone like that?"

      the answer genuiely surprised diana because she hasn't expected that bonnie's reason for the protection spell was because she pissed off enough powerful people. yes, bonnie was an extraordinarily gifted witch but she also seemed like a sweet person. aside from that, this seems like a small town. how much danger can be hidden in here?

      diana followed the request and sat down in a fluent motion, curious about what the day was going to bring. unfortunately, diana was not often among people, at least not when it went beyond superficial contact. her previous way of life had not made it possible to really get to know someone. a year of life and a hundred years of sleep made this impossible, and many were dead long after waking up the next time. 

      diana’s hands were resting on her lap as she thought about bonnie's question. "siphoning as in ... extracting magic?", she asked because while she had not heard that term before, diana tried to derive its meaning. 

      "it is what some peoples do to preserve the magic of their ancestors. it is usually something quite specific. some type of witches pass their magic to the next generation because they aren't born with the amount of magic they would need to practice. is that what you mean with 'siphoning'?"

      diana's true age as well as the amount of knowledge was cleverly concealed by her young appearance. dahlia had studied all types of magic in her drive to best them all and had passed that knowledge on. it's quite possible that diana knows what @founderscouncil is looking for but sometimes terms have changed over the past thousand years.

The memory seemed to persevere not due to any negative reaction but an appreciation of her refreshing boldness. "I do think the best of those I don't know yet. I imagine the worst as well. A man of wisdom will consider all possible alternatives when dealing with the unknown. Which side of the pendulum they belong to, that will be determined by their own actions. Character is fate. You might perceive kindness in blindingly granting the benefit of the doubt, to those without fangs at least, but trust is a precious gift. To freely dispense it without judgement is a disrespect to your own spirit and a danger to your survival." His eyes inhabited a curious fusion of openness and dare. "And so I invite you not to follow your own advice when it comes to me. It will make no difference in the end and I rather you be in possession of a definite answer. Judge me harshly. To the most implacable extent of any suspicion, prejudice or reserves at your disposition. But mark my words, Diana. You will come to trust me in time."

        Hope had been finding herself in need of surrounding herself with people that made her feel like she was home. Honestly, it felt like far too long since she had talked to Diana, and she sought her out for her own comfort more than anything else. Rapping her knuckles on the door frame of the room she found her in, Hope gave a little smile, but it fell when she felt all that stress hit her again.

“Do you have a moment?” Hope asked her slowly. “I was hoping that we could talk...”
