So like, before the chapter comes out, we can all agree that Mikey was not the one who tore Sanzu’s lips and gave him those perfectly symmetrical scars, right? His hands seem completely clean to me, not a trace of blood anywhere. 

And it also looks like, even after the said incidence (caused by Mikey or not) – Sanzu, Baji and Mikey remained friends – Sanzu looked proud in that panel with Baji, while the latter was either yelling to stop or cheering.

This led me to believe two things -

Either - Sanzu himself was the one behind the whole scar fiasco. Mikey confronted him about the plane, Sanzu tried to punish himself for some reason (?) and while he was hurting himself Mikey jumped in to stop him from doing so, in turn making his hands bloody (Maybe seeing blood on his friends’ hands, that was caused because he blamed him, is what kicked in Mikeys Dark impulse, not sure though)

Or - Sanzu got in fight with some guys, one thing led to another resulting in his scars. When he returned back to Sano house, Mikey was shocked and after learning about the fight he got mad thus his dark impulse kicked in. (We have also seen Mikey getting personal with his friends, so as he tried to comfort Sanzu, in process his hands got the blood). Mikey then beat those kids to a pulp; thus, sanzu being proud and baji cheering or telling to stop

In both cases, the last few seconds or minutes was only what Senju saw and drew her own conclusions. (I mentioned earlier too, this seems to be a whole POV distortion of events)

Either way, Mikey seems to be clean from being a violent freak from childhood.

 P.S.: A cry-baby Mikey seems to have learned to keep his emotions in check. Especially after his mother, where it seems he left the room without showing any emotion and then broke down when he was alone.  Like he did when Draken was stabbed in the 3rd Aug battle; keeping his emotions hidden away even from his own family and friends.

 P.P.S.: Mikey’s dad really resembles Mitchi, huh… Same father? Father’s being friends? Or their father’s being brothers? (And since Wakui just LOVES siblings, I don’t think it would be a farfetched either)

P.P.P.S. (this is getting long) – I’m a bit confused with the timeline here. Emma came to Sano house around age 3(?) and we see her there crying when Mikey’s mom died. So, did Mikey’s dad had an affair or what? Or did they get divorced or something, and he left their mom with one year old or younger Mikey?

 The questions just keep’s getting added to already big pile of unanswered ones we have. Anyone got any ideas?

Every time we learn more about Mikey, the TR fandom gets into the ‘is Mikey a good or bad person’ fight, and every time I’m super confused? Like the reason I adore Mikey is because he’s flawed and that makes him an interesting character? I see this tendency a Lot in fandom spaces where people need their favorite characters to be ‘objectively good’ and their least favorite characters ‘objectively bad’. Somewhere along the line, we started to believe that liking a character who does bad things makes you a bad person, and liking the ‘correct’ characters was a way to signal to everyone else that you are a good person. But that’s not how stories work? They need conflict and antagonists and good people and bad people. The villain is just as important as the hero in a story. At some point we stopped treating characters like the plot devices they are and started acting like they were real people. Now, instead of appreciating the themes and messages a character’s arc can teach us, it’s ‘if you like this character that means you condone x bad thing’, but characters aren’t people, they aren’t real. It really doesn’t matter whether you like Mikey or not because he is not real. Some people like Mikey because he’s super complex, some like him because they can relate on some level. Neither of those things mean the person who enjoys his character condones murder or any of his actions, but also, we can recognize when things are dramatized. Mikey’s struggle with emotional regulation is taken to the extreme to make a point. Anime uses hyperbolic language and violence to convey themes all the time. So Mikey is flawed. Sometimes the best characters are bad people, and you are still allowed to like them.

I wake up to this. TR 263 spoilers.

Honestly at this point I don’t completely blame Mikey.

He grew up to be the way he is (minus the Dark Impulse, we still don’t know the story behind it or it isn’t explicitly stated what caused it) because no one ever told him otherwise.

No one ever comes into this world knowing the rules by which humans’ function. No one by birth knows how to speak any language or has a sense of good or bad. Babies learn it from their environment and what they are taught. Like if a baby is taught alphabets in wrong order, he won’t know that till he meets other kids or if he was taught the name of colours wrong, he won’t know that.

Similarly, a kid won’t know it’s “wrong” to beat up others for no reason till he is told so (or scolded for that)

I’m not saying one should be good or bad or right or wrong, because that’s subjective to each person respectively. Not everything in this world can be divided into while and black, there are many grey areas we are dealing here. But there are a few morals this world works by, like one person should not kill other or beat them to death for no reason.

Mama Sano loved her son, she even called him her angel, she adored him – so much that she let his some of his morally questionable activities slide.

The way I see it here, Mikey casually telling his mom that he beat up some kids and her response is not of shock or disappointment but a smile and a praise of how strong he is. He met his mom only once a week – he looked forward to those small interactions, she seemed to talk about his father most (Mikey seemed to be just as interested) and he had his father as an idol to look up to and a mom’s praises to gain, and he got those by being a delinquent.

He grew up learning it’s okay to beat up others – that makes him strong; he grew up thinking crying was for week – so he never expressed himself in front of others; he grew up hating whoever showed any kind of weakness and only loved strong guys. He grew up with a tunnel vision.

I think by this time Black Dragons were formed long back, Shin being ten years elder, meaning here he was 16-17 (or maybe even 18 – as Mikey was 7-8, I think). He saw his brother running around with his biker’s gang, getting into fights and all and thought it was cool.

No wounder his Moral compass isn’t actually aligned with most. (Yes, “Most” because it’s humans who decided what these morals should be, Nature did not)

I think here his mom telling him that “he was not strong because he didn’t cry” was actually a bit late of her, the damage had been done – a mindset had been created, it’s not easy to change one’s views of world so easily.

His face looks like someone told him what he was calling Up all this time was actually Down (does that makes sense?)

You know, when in fanfics there are the character losing their shit over the looming parenthood and that they are going to mess up bad with the whole thing. This one could come close to what they fear.

There are still many things we don’t know about Mikey. Like the origin of his Dark Impulse (we don’t even know when it actually started). He is a complex character, there are layers to him that we are going to find out in the upcoming chapters, for which I can’t wait.

P.S. I am still doubtful about the whole Sanzu scar thing. A manga panel is something that is drawn very carefully and to the last detail, Wakui not drawing blood on Mikey’s hands in his POV while his hands being completely covered in blood in Senju’s are contradictory; so, we still don’t have a complete picture of what actually went down that day. We will have to wait for Sanzu’s POV for that.

While this chapter answered a few questions, it also added another bunch of them. Next chap will be of founding members, we know most about it so i hope dont just get a callback chapter. It also makes me wounder what happens to Sanzu in such a short amount of time.

Coz here, we see he has started to idolize Mikey, whatever the story behind those scars, here we see him proud that Mikey was able to beat up high schoolers.

A week is a long time to wait to have answers to soooo many questions (half of which may even take months)

after a while I'm back to discuss about the spoilers because this chapter seems really interesting

I love backstories, especially the ones in tr so of course I had to talk a bit about these spoilers

get ready to listen to my long ass rant also please excuse the possible mistakes I had troubles in writing this sooo

btw the spoilers are not in a specific order

the title of the chapter is "Be strong" so is kinda easy to assume that it is gonna tell mikey's story

here we have little mikey( he's so adorable ) with a man who is probably his father

now addressing the elephant in the room. yes, as others, I also thought that mikey's dad(?) looks like takemichi. and of course I wasn't the only one and of course people went crazy. and out of this whole mess we have( I think ) two big theories:

the first one and the most controversial one is that mikey's dad might be takemichi's dad. i've seen lots of reactions, some people liking it and thinking that it makes sense and some really being against it

I don't wanna give my opinion about this one bc we don't have enough info and it's too early to assume. I don't think it's a bad theory but it really has some controversial parts as in takemichi almost sleeping with emma ( bc it would make emma and michi related )

the second theory it will be that this man is not mikey's father and that he is in fact takemichi's (which could justify takemichi's curls and looks)

honestly I don't think so just because later on we see mikey with his mom (an ill woman) so I believe that you know while she was at the hospital mikey's father was taking care of him and shinichiro. and this is basically mikey's origin story so it makes more sense for the man to be HIS father. now idk

ngl I don't have too much to say about it just that is cute and sad at the same time. mikey was probably talking about his day/how his days went and she seems to be genuinely listening to him😭

the third spoiler shows us haruchiyo and baji

HARUCHIYO MY BABY LOOK AT HIM HE'S SO ADORABLE I WANNA CRY

the way he smiles🥹🥹 he looks so happy tho I cannot understand why but I really love the vibe he gives off

and his fit is so cute, he looks like a school boy and so elegant and he's letting his hair grow <33(you can tell i'm really happy)

now haruchiyo still has the patches at the corner of his mouth so it means that his scars are STILL NOT HEALED. which just makes me wonder even more: how deep was his injury?

we have baji who looks...shocked? disgusted? worried? I can't tell but this specific panel makes me think about the circumstances of this meeting. I suppose they have met mikey here so... why it looks like they haven't seen each other for a while? and why is that? did they distanced themselves from mikey or did something else happen?

we have these 2 panels which show us what happened on that day

as you can see mikey doesn't have blood on his hands

this makes me think about a theory that was left behind long time ago but it seems that it is surfacing again in the fandom, the theory about haruchiyo hurting himself. like it really is weird for me that haruchiyo touches his fresh scars. it doesn't make any sense like wouldn't it hurt even more?? like you shouldn't be doing this you can get them infected

my baby is crying but he keeps smiling and I really don't understand anything😭😭

next spoiler is with mikey and draken my babies(they're my fav duo)

I kinda don't understand what's going on like they also look shocked but why? okay maybe draken was shocked by mikey but mikey?? was he shocked by draken? or what?😭😭

I wonder if here they met with sanzu and baji yk it could make sense but I don't think they are in the same zone? or idk i mean draken,mikey and baji end up going to the same school sooo

anyways I just love how this panel is draken's flashback from when they met for the first time but from mikey's perspective💗

we have this panel that looks really similar to the one we saw in draken's flashback. here mikey so probably explaining that he can fight and stuff

we also have a panel of what ppl think baby mikey because that seems to be his blanket

i don't have too much to say about this mikey is probably talking about himself(or the narrator)

and the last panel(which is not but) with mikey crying bc he lost his mom :(((

I love to see that he is showing emotion

tho I can't get over the fact that he really looks like chifuyu in this XD tho it's kinda clear that is mikey cuz eye color
