The president of Burkina Fasso, Ibrahim Traore, made a speech a couple days ago.
These imperialist have only one picture in mind. They see Africa as an empire of slaves. For them, Africans belong to them, our land belongs to them, our ressources belong to them. They never changed their thinkings still to these days. It’s deplorable.
But how do they do it? It’s since the 60’s unfortunately when they gave a mockery of independences were given to Africa. All they did was putting local lackey in charge of their subprefectures so they could still feed themselves from African wealth.
These local lackeys that we will call today “house slaves” have no other goal than trying to live like the master, satisfy the master and doing everything the master orders. They steal, they loot our states, bring everything to the master and their wealth is kept by the master. They do everything to live like the master and satisfy him. When the master orders they obey.
Do you know who these “house slaves” are? Well we will explain who they are. They are people with no dignity, no moral, no personality, but the slave master has always been able to identify these people. They are always ready to betray their brothers to satisfy the master. They betrayed us since the independence and some keep on betraying us for the benefits of their master. These individuals keep on looting Africa against all odds. Every year in their economic survey they say Burkina is poor, Mali is poor, Niger is poor. We rank among the poorest in the world. Alright if we are as poor as they say why is that when we tell their master to leave they refuse. Because in the case of Niger some countries exploited Uranium for more than 40 years to produce their energy. From Ottawa to Paris all their streets are illuminated but in Niger it’s darkness. This is why we decided to revolt and take the destiny of our countries into our own hands. There are many more examples. We came to break the chain and it’s unthinkable for them so they sent the house slave to bring us in the ranks.
[…]
We will not let it happen again people are awake now and we are not fighting back for ourselves but for the generations to come. We are ready to fight to take our freedom and bring real independence.

Sophie Perry at PinkNews:
While same-sex marriages are forbidden, homosexuality has never been classified as illegal in the West African country until now. Last week (10 July), following a Cabinet meeting of the ruling junta, Justice Minister Edasso Rodrigue Bayala said homosexual relations would be prohibited and made a punishable offence. He gave no further details. The military seized power in 2022 and any new legislation still needs to be passed by the military-controlled parliament and signed off by junta leader Ibrahim Traoré.  “Henceforth, homosexuality and associated practices will be punished by the law,” Bayala said, news agency AFP reported. The move follows a trend of African nations moving to crackdown on LGBTQ+ rights by enacting discriminatory legislation, with queer people jailed or even facing the death penalty.
Burkina Faso is set to join the sad list of African nations criminalizing homosexuality as part of the war on LGBTQ+ rights.

I have a hot take for the CC fandom. Feel free to discuss. I'd love to hear your opinions!
Enzo Traoré from season 8 is a worse version of Diego del Lobo.

Black People what’s y’all perception/opinion on Africa making moves to remove colonizers👀 & self-serving political figures from positions of power? I think I fw the coup movements (if I understand their call to action correctly). It’s all “Africa deserves better & can nourish itself” basically, right? Africa definitely needs & deserves healing w/o the infiltration or faux-empathy from white nations. I genuinely believe Africans can do it themselves. The military leader of Burkina Faso seem like he ain’t playing no mf games, & I wanna say I support his efforts to cleanse the continent of stagnance and impurities — but I feel like his willingness to invest trust in Russia might not be the way to go. Mainly cus white ppl from France who were willing to pillage from Africa under the guise that they were helping the continent cannot be worlds apart from white ppl from Russia who could very well have the same agenda — but that’s my opinion.
I just have a healthy skepticism of white ppl creating opportunities to recycle hatred for Black People at large while making it look like aid/support. What y’all think?

BREAKING: Burkina Faso has regained control of its gold mines from a British company, reportedly the largest mining company in Africa. In a significant move, President Ibrahim Traore has announced the nationalization of the gold mine.
In a bold and significant move, Burkina Faso has reclaimed control of two of its major gold mines, marking a shift towards greater resource sovereignty. The Boungou and Wahgnion gold mines, previously owned by an African mining company, have now been nationalized by the Burkinabé government as part of a deal finalized on August 27, 2024. This decision aligns Burkina Faso with a broader trend among African nations, particularly those under military rule, to assert greater control over their natural resources.
The nationalization deal, valued at approximately $80 million, marks a significant turning point in the country’s mining sector. The two gold mines were initially acquired by Lilium, an African mining firm, from the British company Endeavour Mining last year in a transaction worth over $300 million. However, tensions between the companies soon escalated, with Endeavour accusing Lilium of failing to meet payment obligations, while Lilium alleged that Endeavour had misrepresented the financial state of the mines.
This development bears resemblance to the actions of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who nationalized Libya’s oil resources, contributing to the country’s significant economic growth.
