Wrestler’s of the Week: The team of Chris Brookes and Kid Lykos, the team with the sickest f**king Tag moves in the business; CCK

So, with the rise of the British indie scene many different British wrestlers have risen up to be the leaders in their style of wrestling, you have Osprey changing the game in high Flying, ZSJ leading in Technical Wrestling, and Marty having what some would call “the best Character in the business.” But one team has been changing the game in Tag Team Wrestling that don’t get enough recognition is CCK. The team of Chris Brookes and Kid Lykos have been making the rounds across the UK with one goal in mind, to prove that they are the best damn Tag Team in the business, and with already being multiple Time Tag Team champions in Promotions across the UK (including Progress where they beat BSS to win the titles both times) they may be just that.

WXW, Fight Club Pro, Rev Pro, Progress, where ever these boys go they find success, and it all begins with the team work between the two. Chris Brookes is the natural team leader, but is also extremely technically sound (has a great octopus hold though he is the squid) and this combines very well, for some odd reason, with Kid Lykos very high Flying, luch libre inspired offense, which in turn combines for some interesting (some would say sick, and I would agree) F’ing Tag Moves. Also, Chris is a huge fan of Joshi pro wrestling, so CCK’s style reflects some of the best Joshi Tag Teams which is why it’s so smooth and fluid, no wasted movement (save for the usual wet Willy or two)

And despite being a team, both guys have had successfull singles career, and sometimes with the help of their Partner (Chris Brookes actually won a 6 way where the participants where himself, Travis banks, and BSS, and Lykos, where Lykos actually assisted in with the pin on Banks). Injury seems to be the only thing from having The CCK from completely taking over the indie Tag Team scene, but when they are both healthy, it seems nothing can stop CCK (they also have great themes with human fly being a particular favorite) Oh and SHUT UP LYKOS!!!

Just know, I wanted to write something, and I will most likely write more as I get new ideas, but I wanted to branch out from my regular Arcana and Far Cry 5 writings, so here’s a Percy Jackson and the Hero’s of Olympus fic featuring my OC Travis Lykos

Silver’s Son

Chapter 1: The Crows Call

Travis awoke earlier than usual one morning, around 6:00, before he could even think about what might’ve caused him to wake up at this dreaded hour he began to hear a crow much closer than normal.

He slid out of his bed and rubbed the sleep from his eyes before tearing open the rather heavy curtains that hung in his bedroom and opening the blinds, normally any noisy bird would’ve left at this point but the damned crow kept cawing, as if it had a singular purpose that it wouldn’t be deterred from.

Travis stood there, eyeing the feathery demon before unlatching the locks to the window and opening it.

“What do you want?” He asked, not expecting an answer but also not receiving one either, he just ignored his new ‘friend’ as best he could as he got dressed for the day, and worked his hickory brown hair into a braid behind his head.

He walked out of his room at 6:30 on the dot, the sun was just now showing itself on the horizon and a light fog covered the damp grass that covered the clover field beside the house, he reached for the jacket that he usually kept by the door but strangely couldn’t find it. He stepped out into the hall, and followed it to the living room.

“Hey mom, have you seen my jack-” He stopped himself mid sentence as he saw his mother, Isabelle, zipping up a medium sized military grade backpack.

“Oh hey, sweetie.” She said, hastily turning her head to face him. “Just know, I love you very very much, but it’s time...”

“Time...time for what?” Travis asked, only to sigh in frustration when she refused to say another word.

“Just get in the car, and we can talk on the way.”

Travis threw his arms up before just doing what he’d been told, his mother might’ve been sweet, but she could bring forth the wrath of Heaven should you disobey her.

He grabbed his bag and slung it around his back and exited the house, Isabelle unlocked the car as he approached and Travis climbed inside. He waited no more than a minute before his mother left the house and climbed behind the steering wheel.

The drive was no more than an hour long, and in that hour much was discussed, like how Travis was born without any help from a male, who the other mother was, and why she waited until now before revealing her son to the world.

(A conversation in which I do not feel like typing out)

Soon the car pulled into a little patch of dirt just outside of a forest. Isabelle reached over and gave her son a proper, loving hug before he departed the vehicle. She wept slightly as he went just out of her sight and followed the path that he could barely distinguish from the rest of the grass that surrounded him.

Travis looked over his shoulder, feeling something watching his every movement, as if anticipating the worst. He strolled up a tall stone doorway that looked like it once might’ve belonged to a knights fortification, or a castle. Although when he actually did walk through he heard nothing but the cracklings of the braziers that hung on the old, cold stone...Then out of nowhere...

“Move your head to the left!” A feminine voice said, although he couldn’t see the immediate source. Travis moved his head just in time as an arrow whizzed past his ear

“Hold!” A booming voice was heard, followed by horses’ hooves.

“Son of Artemis!” A man called as he made his approach. When the he rode closer Travis could see that he wasn’t riding a horse, he was half horse, a centaur.

“We’ve been awaiting your arrival.” He continued “I am Chiron, and these...” He gestured over to a small group of teens, who had now peaked their heads up over the brush. “...Are my students.”

King of Trios is under four months away, and as of today, one quarter of the tournament is full!

With King of Trios making it’s way to England, it’s only appropriate that a Trio that has been making significant waves in UK wrestling to be added: The Calamari Catch Kings (CCK) of Chris Brookes, Kid Lykos, and Travis Banks! Although King of Trios 2017 will be the CHIKARA debut for all three men, Brookes and Banks were apart of the Fight Club: Pro “CHIKARA Special” UK shows in May of 2016, meaning they have some familiarity with the roster at hand. With the homefield advantage and loads of momentum behind them, “House Calamari” might be the odds on favorite to take the whole thing.
