the interrogation ; task #2
tw: hit and run& drug mentions
leo truly felt sick to his stomach. as if he were going to have to get up at any given moment and throw up. as soon as the letters had gone out, he’d went straight to chris. the two talked until the early hours of the morning to come up with a story that would be solid enough. a story that wouldn’t arouse suspicion. leo merely had to continuously remind himself that he had nothing to do with this case. in the case of desmond, he was innocent. so, surely he had nothing to worry about, right?
“Please, take a seat. The station thanks you in advance for your cooperation and honesty today. The more information you give us today, the faster you’ll be out that door. Understood?”
as leo lowered himself into the seat, he looked up at the man sitting before him, nodding slowly. he laid his palms flat against his thighs, just trying to remain calm. it would be okay. he was innocent. “yes, sir.”
“Are you aware of the events that occurred on February 19th, 2017? More specifically, the attempted murder of Desmond Delaney?”
leo gave another nod. “yes, sir. i heard about it on the news the day after it happened.” thus far, leo didn’t have to lie. maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all. maybe he had been all worked up for nothing.
“Had you ever met or heard of Mr. Delaney prior to the incident?”
“yes. he worked at that convenience store downtown, the one on the corner. it was close to my old apartment, so i would go there a lot. i didn’t know him outside of that, though.” again, another truth.
“Where were you on the night of February 19th, 2017? What were you doing and especially, who were you with? Please recall as much as you can remember, even the smallest bits of information will prove to be helpful.”
this was it. the question that leo had been dreading. if they could merely omit this piece of the interrogation entirely, it would have been a walk in the park. of course, though, it wasn’t that easy. nothing ever was that easy. leo let out a breath, shrugging his shoulders slightly. “i was at a friend’s house. joshua larkin’s. we hung out for awhile. probably until like, 2 A.M. i stared to get tired and when i did, i went home. when i got there, i watched a movie with my roommate, then i went to bed.” leo replied honestly. it was the truth. he’d just left out the fact that they were all high as kites and that on his way home he’d perpetrated the hit and run, but it was still the truth. just not the whole truth. “if you want, i can give you the names of everyone who was there that night. you can make sure everything checks out.” after all, no one who was guilty would be willing to give up this kind of information, right?
“Allow me to make it clear that deception to law enforcement will not be tolerated. That being said, is there anything you’d like to add or perhaps clarify? This will be your only chance.”
leo managed to hide the panic on his face at his words. were they onto him? did they know he was lying? no. surely it was just a precaution. he could hear his heart beating in his ears now. leo shook his head slowly, being sure to look the officer in the eye regardless of how difficult it was to do. “no, sir. i’ve told you everything.”
“–Alright. We’ll be following up on the information provided today for legitimacy. We’ll be in touch. Thank you for your time. You’re free to go.”
"okay. thank you,” leo replied gently, giving him a nod before he rose to his feet. one foot in front of the other, leo. his feet carried him out of the station, feeling entirely unsettled. by the time he reached his car and sat down inside, his head was spinning and his knees were weak. what if they would put the pieces together of what leo had told them? they could link him to the hit and run. had he said the right things? maybe he should have came up with a different story entirely. with all the doubts and uncertainty whizzing through his head, it was only mere moments before leo pushed open the door, leaning out of the side of it, before he hurled.

Interrogation task #2
Natalia was calm and relaxed, use to being around law enforcements. It wasn’t like she had done anything wrong at all. She was just simply in for interrogation of an incident that she was not here for. She had thought what use she could be with very little information about her whereabouts and the incident of the male who was murdered. Though she wasn’t here when it happened, she had stayed up to date on what had happened in Treeville. This being one she had come across.
“Please, take a seat. The station thanks you in advance for your cooperation and honesty today. The more information you give us today, the faster you’ll be out that door. Understood?”
Natalia nodded as she sat in the seat and placed her hands on the table, her fingers locking together. “Understood.” She said simply, her eyes never leaving the detective.
“Are you aware of the events that occurred on February 19th, 2017? More specifically, the attempted murder of Desmond Delaney?”
"I’m sure everyone has heard about what happened really.” she answered.
“Had you ever met or heard of Mr. Delaney prior to the incident?”
Nat nodded a bit, “I’ve heard of him but never had met him personally.”
“Where were you on the night of February 19th, 2017? What were you doing and especially, who were you with? Please recall as much as you can remember, even the smallest bits of information will prove to be helpful.”
This was an easy question to answer. "I was out of town. I had moved back to New York for a year due to some family problems that was going on. That night, i don’t remember exactly but i was at home with my mother.”
“Allow me to make it clear that deception to law enforcement will not be tolerated. That being said, is there anything you’d like to add or perhaps clarify? This will be your only chance.”
Natalia raised a brow before giving them shake of her head, “Nope, nothing else. Everything I told you is what had happened.”
“–Alright. We’ll be following up on the information provided today for legitimacy. We’ll be in touch. Thank you for your time. You’re free to go.”
Nat got up from her seat, collecting her purse with her. “Thank you.” She said before walking out.

the interrogation ; task #2
tw; mentions of abuse & kidnapping
how fucked was this? dimitri, after being held hostage for a year, after being forced to work against his own will, now he had to endure a police investigation. it wasn’t fair. sure, they had no idea what he’d been through but god, couldn’t they just skip past this? dimitri didn’t even know desmond or anything to do with what happened. he’d been a bit preoccupied fighting his own battles.
“Please, take a seat. The station thanks you in advance for your cooperation and honesty today. The more information you give us today, the faster you’ll be out that door. Understood?”
dimitri obliged, knowing that his cooperation meant freedom. he gave the detective a nod before settling into the seat, shoving his hands into the pockets of his hoodie.
“Are you aware of the events that occurred on February 19th, 2017? More specifically, the attempted murder of Desmond Delaney?”
definitely not. again, dimitri had been far too preoccupied with his own battles. so, he lied. it was easier that way. “heard about it on the news.”
“Had you ever met or heard of Mr. Delaney prior to the incident?”
dimitri gave the detective a shake of his head. “no.” he hadn’t. maybe he’d seen him once before, after all, treeville was small, but seeing his face once or twice would contribute to nothing. nothing at all.
“Where were you on the night of February 19th, 2017? What were you doing and especially, who were you with? Please recall as much as you can remember, even the smallest bits of information will prove to be helpful.”
dimitri cleared his throat, pushing himself up to sit slightly straighter. here it came. the g rated version of what really happened. “i left for business that night. i’m a computer engineer, it’s what i do here at the station. i left around 10 P.M. that night for stockdon. my employer sent someone to pick me up. i worked there for a year until my contract was it.” short and sweet. they didn’t need to know anything beyond that.
“Allow me to make it clear that deception to law enforcement will not be tolerated. That being said, is there anything you’d like to add or perhaps clarify? This will be your only chance.”
dimitri nodded slowly in understanding, honestly ready to walk out of this damn room and return to his desk. this was a waste of time. he had bigger things to deal with, not this. he felt sorry for desmond, but he’d been dealing with his own mess. he had nothing to hide in this instance. in any instance, really. “that’s it.”
“–Alright. We’ll be following up on the information provided today for legitimacy. We’ll be in touch. Thank you for your time. You’re free to go.”
dimitri gave the man a nod before he rose to his feet. he was out of that door just as soon as he’d walked in. dimitri was surprised he’d managed to keep his emotions in check, since that had been a struggle since he’d returned to treeville maybe it was because he simply didn’t care for this whole ordeal. his problems were far bigger than the scope of this. he proceeded back towards his desk, huffing gently as he collapsed back against his seat. he needed to get out of this town.

the action of inflicting hurt or harm on someone for an injury or wrong suffered at their hands.
following the bonfire, the residents of treeville have settled back into their daily routines. the idyllic night was one out of movie. aside from one, tiny detail. the man of honor, desmond delaney, was nowhere to be found. why? turns out that desmond had his own agenda. one in which he would use his knowledge regarding every individual in treeville to his advantage.

the interrogation ; task #2
tw: mob mentions
naomi was surprisingly calm. surprisingly? no. naomi was infamous for managing to take these things in stride. naomi had learned very early on, especially in her profession, the worst thing you could ever do was let someone else know what you were feeling. especially in instances like these. naomi’s goal was to remain cool, calm, and collected. for once, desmond’s attempted murder hadn’t been associated with the mob in the slightest. that being said, for once in her life, naomi didn’t have to hide any information from the police.
“Please, take a seat. The station thanks you in advance for your cooperation and honesty today. The more information you give us today, the faster you’ll be out that door. Understood?”
nodding easily in understanding, naomi settled into the chair and flashed the detective across from her a smile. “of course, i’m happy to help.” she replied easily.
“Are you aware of the events that occurred on February 19th, 2017? More specifically, the attempted murder of Desmond Delaney?”
naomi’s smile faltered at what he asked next and she nodded slowly. “news travels fast, detective, especially in a small town like this.”
“Had you ever met or heard of Mr. Delaney prior to the incident?”
naomi took a moment to contemplate, trying to decide if she’d had a single encounter with desmond worth mentioning. again, though, he hadn’t been a target for the mob or involved with it. he hadn’t been a former client, either. naomi had no reason to know him. “i might have seen him at the convenience store he worked at, but that’s the extent of it.” again, that was the truth. what a feeling it was to sit in this room and actually tell the truth for once. it was absolutely a first.
“Where were you on the night of February 19th, 2017? What were you doing and especially, who were you with? Please recall as much as you can remember, even the smallest bits of information will prove to be helpful.”
if anything, this had been the question naomi was dreading. for one sole reason, too. she knew that she’d have to bullshit her way through it. she couldn’t exactly say that was the night she had a meeting with blake and decided to have the man who murdered her father killed. yeah, no. “when i got off, i headed over to see some family. well, not actually family, but practically family. a longtime friend of my father’s, blake trons.” again, naomi wasn’t concerned about name dropping. they didn’t have anything on her or the mob, if they did she’d be in jail. “we had dinner and i headed home around 9 P.M.”
“Allow me to make it clear that deception to law enforcement will not be tolerated. That being said, is there anything you’d like to add or perhaps clarify? This will be your only chance.”
naomi raised her eyebrows at the detective’s words before shrugging nonchalantly. “that’s it, detective, as lack-luster as it sounds.” the blonde assured him. she had no information on desmond, she truly didn’t. they were barking up the wrong tree.
“–Alright. We’ll be following up on the information provided today for legitimacy. We’ll be in touch. Thank you for your time. You’re free to go.”
naomi gave one last nod before she rose to her feet, flashing the detective another smile. “thank you,” she told him before she headed out of the door. naomi had no concerns. they’d come here to dig into desmond’s case, not the mob’s case. she had nothing to be worried about. so she figured, at least.
