Promoted: TrustedHealth Develops a Healthcare Ecosystem Based on Blockchain Technology, Presenting at the World Health Organization
Blockchain technology’s immense potential, while well-documented, continues to get lost in the hype surrounding the increasing value of cryptocurrencies and the oft-astronomical raises of initial coin offerings (ICOs).
Though it has ushered in one the most disruptive technologies in decades, the distributed ledger movement remains in its infancy stage, relative to its potential application and scalability.
The healthcare sector, however, is one area where robust conversations about distributed technology applications are occurring at an accelerated pace. Now, a fast-moving startup firm known as TrustedHealth is blazing a new path toward securely digitizing and decentralizing the way patients seek treatment for specific conditions.
TrustedHealth is a blockchain-centric, patient-led and doctor-guided cooperative focused on combating life-threatening diseases. The goal of this project is to identify the best methods for ensuring improved health outcomes for patients throughout the world.
Previously, the team behind TrustedHealth created Trustedoctor to assist patients and their families in their battles against life-threatening diseases. Now, TrustedHealth is bringing this successful model onto a blockchain to empower patients, helping them tap into expertise from across the globe in a decentralized way. The long-term goal is to unify and align healthcare experiences while supporting better medical record-sharing data security within the field.
Trustedoctor was presented to the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland, on February 28, 2018, spawning discussions about how it could be utilized in furthering WHO’s mission. Since then, Trustedoctor and TrustedHealth have sought to encourage other organizations to use the virtual platform as the go-to, standardized portal for specialized medicine.
“The way we treat disease is much more specialized than it used to be,” said Philippe Schucht, the chief medical officer of TrustedHealth. “For instance, a patient isn’t diagnosed with general brain cancer, but with a specific subset of the disease that requires a specific treatment plan. The issue is that most people aren’t allowed easy access to the doctors specializing in this specific condition and it’s resulting in climbing misdiagnosis rates. Through TrustedHealth, we’re bringing the world’s expertise onto one network, making it highly accessible and secure.”
Trustedoctor was formed after its founder, Greg Jarząbek, lost his mother to pancreatic cancer. He trekked throughout the world in an attempt to identify the best treatment for her. Through this experience, he realized the immensely scattered ecosystem that exists for the world’s leading physician specialists.
The Trustedoctor network has already on boarded more than 80 world-leading doctor specialists, available to more than 250 patients from 35 countries around the world. Also, one of the Trustedoctor tools, Doctorlink, is being used in more than 50 hospitals around the world, according to TrustedHealth.
Today, the vision for connecting the entire health ecosystem is through TrustedHealth’s blockchain technology. Spanning beyond virtual consultations and second opinions, the holistic healthcare process of
TrustedHealth is digital and decentralized, including initial consultation, medical records and insurance, lab orders, treatment assignments, travel options and payment.
The company’s worldwide list of advisory board members includes technologists and medical experts from Japan, the U.K., the U.S., Switzerland, Slovenia and Russia.
TrustedHealth’s ICO commences on March 20, 2018, at 12:00 CET and its crowdsale begins on March 27, 2018 (if the hardcap is not reached in the presale). Whitelisting is now open. With a limited supply of the TrustedHealth tokens, contribution above 50 ETH will secure each investor a “HealthPass” — granting access to health insurance stored on an Ethereum-based wallet.
A HealthPass-registered Ethereum address allows a health consumer to access premium services within TrustedHealth’s network of service providers. From there, the company does the work to identify a proper physician match for each individual person.
Note: Trading and investing in digital assets is speculative and can be high-risk. Based on the shifting business and regulatory environment of such a new industry, this content should not be considered investment or legal advice.

Island Short Story
Status: Ongoing Word count: 1166
The waves licked up the side of the raft like flames, the cold, salty sea landing harshly against the two bodies clinging together inside. Hands clutched at hands, at arms, pruning fingers shook against their skin out of fear. The raft shifted and shuttered against against the storm, silently answering the prayers of it’s two passengers that it not flip over.
Against the crashing waves and the cracking thunder booming against the pit black sky, the only sight in front of them is the fear reflected in each other's eyes. Their names are lost in the storm along with their possessions, their friends, their family. That's the only thing they could piece together when they woke up on the plastic tube currently keeping them from drowning.
The raft suddenly slid against something with a thump, the two bodies jerking and falling forward, their already soaked selfs landing with a splash in the small puddle in the middle of the raft.
“Did we hit land?” One of them asked, he’s smaller than the other, his eyes wide and dark hair clipped short.
“I think so…” The taller drifted off, and even even in the darkness covering them wide-eyes could see his ears sticking out slightly, like an elephant. He climbed out of the raft and landed with a thump on the damp sand. “Come on.”
Beyond the beach, the island was rich in foliage. Thick vines clung to the trunks of the large trees, bushes huddled together around the roots sporting lumicenstant berries and flora, everything seemed so familiar, like it was pictured in a book neither of them could remember reading. They trekked through the jungle until they came upon a small, make-shift camp made up of a crumbling shelter and a collection of stones arranged in a circle as a fire-pit. The two boys were far too tired to question it.
A fire was built quickly, Elephant hand’s worked masterfully with the small sticks and rocks around the site, and soon they were both huddled around the small flames. It was the first time Wide-eyes noticed that Elephant’s hair was bright red.
In the morning they scavenged for food, carefully selecting the fruits that looked most edible and taking turns tasting them. They noted that the bright, almost glowing red ones tasted most familiar to them and though the name slipped both of their minds, both of their eyes lit up when the skin of berries broke apart against their teeth.
It wasn't until later, when they were back at their small camp when Wide-eyes spoke.
“What are we doing?” He asked, knees pulled up against his chest and his arms circled around his knees.
Elephant peeked an eye open from where he was lying on the ground. “We’re sitting here.” There was a small smile on his lips.
“Stop it.” Wide-Eyes demanded. “You know what I mean, what are we doing?” His hands fell from around his knees and gestured around them wildly.
“I don’t know.” Elephant said, lips twisted to the side in thought. “I feel something tugging at my gut though, something tell us to wait. ”
After Elephant had mentioned that he’d seen a mountain just over the valley they had set off towards it. Hands slipped against the sharp rocks leaving faint streaks of blood against the rough surfaces. Elephant had crafted a bottle of sorts with the leaves and vines around their camp by twisting them together and kept filling it as they walked along the side of the river. Wide-eyes had expressed turning back a few times, something dark clinging to the back of his mind but Elephant kept reassuring him that they could build a camp there at some point. The sun’s light vanished and they were left shivering as they climbed through the unfamiliar wood. Out of the corner of his eye Wide-Eyes noticed something—a light— he quickly pulled Elephant towards it, until they were facing a large modern building, nestled in between the rocks.
Without speaking they walked towards it, the large metallic gates falling open under their hands. Elephant clutched at Wide-Eyes’s elbow, fingers jabbing into his skin hard enough to bruise. The main door opened just as easily. The bright luminescent lights hanging overhead caused them both to groan and cover their eyes.
“This is wrong.” A voice had said, a female. They both had looked up then, eyes squinted. She stood in front of them confidently, dark hair pulled out of her face and a white lab-coat hanging off her shoulders.
“What?” Elephant had answered rather unintelligently. Her lips flattened into a line. “This isn’t what I asked for. This isn’t going to work.”
“What?” He had asked again and Wide-Eyes felt his lungs collapsing in his chest. He pulled Elephant back, an arm crossed over the front of his chest to keep from going any further. The woman’s eyebrows raised slightly. “You brought us here,” Wide-Eyes said, “Why?”
She sighed, “You were brought here, yes. But I specifically asked for several males and females and what I see in front of me is clearly lacking the female component.” She dusted a nonexistent piece of dirt off of her collar. “As for the why, well, I’m sure you remember by now Michael.”
Elephant turned to him, his own eyes wide now and Wid-- Michael felt like he couldn’t breathe. That was his name. That was who he was, who he is. He exhaled deeply, tears prickling in the corner of his eyes. “This is Asphodel.” He said, “I remember reading about it— I’m not sure what our part in this is— but it was a very well esteemed laboratory… They specialized in growing human organs in other species..” He drifted off, eyes scanning the room. Beside him Elephant was still, a look of hurt and anger in his eyes. The woman in front of them signaled for him to continue. Michael wiped at his eyes.
“Something went wrong though.. Like it always does and people were dying, their bodies rejecting the new organs and the lab was forced to shut down.” He looked around again, “Or so everyone thought..”
“You missed a few things but,” Her voice was robotic, no emotion. “Yes, you’re essentially right. There was a recurring error with the pluripotent stem cells and rather than wait for more promising results our partners rushed the products out the door.” As she spoke she had made her way over to a large filing cabinet in the corner. She pulled out two files.
“What are we here for then?” Elephant asked, his voice cracking. She smiles and opened the first folder.
“Michael Lee” She started, “Age 23, born in Chicago, Illinois, diagnosed with pancreatic cancer two years ago.” She opened the other one. “Nathan Kim, Age 24, born in New York, New York, diagnosed with liver cancer one and a half years ago.”
Michael clutched at Ele— Nathan’s shoulder, their faces both stark white. “We were test subjects.”
