Ella, a beautiful town in the Uva Province of Sri Lanka, is just about 5-6 hours drive from Colombo. It is one of the prettiest drives with a constant view of palm and banana trees throughout the way. This is from a short hike up to a place called Adam’s Peak. Apparently the large hollow here resembles a footprint of a human. For some it’s a footprint of Buddha, for some it’s Adam, when he first stepped on earth and for some it’s lord Shiva. Besides these theories, it is such a calm, serene and green place and you don’t mind taking a quick nap and breathe the most fresh air! Ella ‘18 . . . . . . . Thinking of my departed friend Derek Tripp today, hard to believe it's been thirteen years. I cherish the memories we had; so many concert adventures, late night walks around Ovid, good conversation over late-night coffee at the State Diner and Manos, your fantastic sense of humor, record shopping at Ten on and Area Records, and listening to Rush, Primus, Faith No More, and Jane's Addiction non-stop. I wished I stayed closer in touch the last few years, but life, right?
