an (incomplete) list of things Damen calls Laurent all through Captive Prince (either to his face or in his head)
sweetheart (derogatory)
snake
an insufferable yellow-haired princeling (sounds like something Gimli would say about Legolas lmao)
sweetheart (again, still derogatory)
cold-blooded and honourless (to his face, after the first round of flogging)
(honourable mention: cast-iron bitch, by Orlant)
a nest of scorpions in the body of one person
reptile (indirectly)
and an (incomplete) list of things Laurent calls Damen
Sweetheart (derogatory)
little pet
(like a) puppy
my dear brute

its amazing how Damen even is jealous when he doesn't even like the guy. like i can imagine him literally growling at every man only looking Laurents way once thay actually start being together.

im so curious about what happened to Kallias. he did put the blame all on Erasmus so it seems like it wouldn't have costed him his position. so he would have stayed in Kastors household until Damen and Laurent came to take back the throne and kill Kastor. what then? i don't think they killed anyone from Kastors household and they freed all slaves. so Kallias would have been a free man. do you think he would have - somehow gotten himself an audience with the new kings? or just stormed in there? demanding to know where the slaves were that were sent with Damianos to Vere? if they told him, would he try to go to Patras and find Erasmus?
or would Torvelt arrive in Ios with the slaves to "give them back" because technically theyre still property of Vere and were only loaned to Patras. and now that Vere and Akielos are united and abolishing slavery it would be the right diplomatic decision to let the Akielon slaves free and bring them back.
so does Erasmus stay with Torvelt? because hes been kind and good and Erasmus can travel with him and so now a free man he chooses to stay with him?
or is he finally reunited with Kallias who explains himself, explains how he learned Kastors plan and knew this would be the only way to save Erasmus' life. Can Erasmus forgive him, wen he went through hell because of that?

lmao i only now realised that their decision was to used Exalted for Damen aka the king of Akielos and Your Highness/Majesty for Laurent aka the Prince/King of Vere
I somehow always assumed it meant they'd used Exalted for both... oops

i think the bath scene before the cross is so SO important and not talked about enough.
i dont think there was real danger of Damen raping Laurent (from Laurents POV) - he knew the guards were just outside. and yes, im convinced, he had already decided to have Damen whipped before the bath, but he also needed something to amplify his hate. and Damen gave him just that (and probably more)
during the ring scene Damen made clear that he doesn't rape children and he also presented himself as capable, intelligent and most importantly FAIR/JUST
he confused Laurent with that. that wasn't the man he expected.
so the bath is a test.
and damens horny ass proved Laurent right.
Damen would not rape anyone, but thats not how Laurent sees it.
the guy might have SOME standard but he still will violate beyond fairness.
in Laurents eyes Damen disproves his own words in that moment so Laurent can allow himself to unleash his cruel anger and seek revenge

i love Laurent and Nicaise' relationship all through Capri. its so brother-like, but it feels like only Laurent is aware about it. Nicaise on the other end tries to act like as the regents pet hes in a totally different boat (it feels almost step-parent like, if that makes sense) but absolutely fails and ends up seeming even more like the little brother

naww i love how self-reflective this is. like this is the closest Laurent can actually come to admit that he himself is more than disgusted by the treatment of the slaves. of the general happening on court. hes also starting to realise that Damen is not only the man who killed his brother, but rather a layered human himself with a strong sense for duty and honour. and i think in some way Laurent is already starting to respect that.
