Hey so I've been so obsessed with your artstyle and concept and I neeed more spoilers, can you share anything more?

Sure! Because you didn’t specify what you wanted more on, you get a fun little tidbit or two about where Shark and Vile come from, and their relationship with each other.

Almost all of the cast have lost their brothers in some way or another. Shark(fell) comes from a neutral timeline where the game ended in war between the monsters and humans, and his Papyrus was lost in something related to that. (Won’t go into detail because that’s spoilers for Shark’s route hehehe)

Vile(swapfell) comes from a glitched timeline where basically everything went wrong. (It’s also why Vile is canonically transmasc— his timeline’s code was so broken and shredded that he was created with an incorrectly gendered body.) It was meant to be pacifist, but Alphys caught the human child he was protecting and their soul was taken regardless. He was cast away for betraying the queendom by aiding the human, and he, sadly, never saw his Papyrus again.

So they’ve both lost their brothers. Since they both technically have the personalities of a fell sans and (somewhat) a fell papyrus, it’s not surprising that they quickly became inseparable. Shark and Vile are the MOST inseparable of the cast, since they remind each other of their late brothers, and refuse to lose another. They’re found family and adoptive brothers to each other, filling the void that was left behind.

This also means they fight and argue like brothers, which is how you meet them in the game’s introduction hehe. You walk in on them absolutely verbally dragging each other.

Not sure if this question is allowed on tumblr but, do any of the seven deadly skeleton boyos struggle with addiction?? I wanna know more about them :3.

Actually, in their own little ways, they all struggle with different things. That’s the main plot of the game, is in each of their routes, you discover their biggest faults and traumas and help them work through them in healthy ways.

For Brute, it’s an eating disorder where he feeds others before himself, even if that means he goes hungry.

But for addictions, yeah, I’d say Vile struggles with use of alcohol and Shark struggles with smoking. No real drugs, no weed or anything, but yeah! At least two of them struggle with substance addiction. Though everyone in the cast has their vices, just not all of em are stuff like that. For Flint, it’s excessive training to get his mind off of things, for example.

My goal with TSDS is to make at least one of the boys relatable to someone’s worst moments or faults. That way, as you help them through their route and learn more about why they are the way they are, hopefully the game can help teach you healthy ways through your own struggles, too.

It's Flint based off of the comic "If Blue joined the Dark Sanses"? Is that how he becomes Flint?

I haven’t seen that comic in forever omg so yes I do believe that’s where I got the idea to include him in the game BUT that story isn’t how he becomes Flint, no. He leaves the Star Sanses after being forced to watch something happen in his world (that I won’t specify because SPOILERS!!) without being able to do something about it BECAUSE of Ink’s interference so he left them and took Nightmare’s deal because that made him lose all drive he had for being a “hero”. He’s still a guardian of the multiverse, just on the other side.

Nightmare’s goal isn’t to destroy the multiverse, it’s to protect it and keep it alive, so he’s NOT on the same team as Error. He just wants to keep it alive for more *nefarious* reasons. (Wanting to be able to continue using the negativity generated from the timelines to feed his own power and survival. More timelines that are together means more negativity for him to make). So Flint is still helping protect the multiverse, he’s just on the other side to spite and get revenge on Dream and Ink for what they did to him.

Ink is also the reason Flint is blind in his left eye, which is another catalyst for Flint’s resentment :3

He’s not officially transgender, but you’re very welcome to headcanon him as such. TSDS does have one canonically trans character though, that would be Vile :} vile is he/him ftm. Glare(dust) also unofficially goes by he/they if you’d like to count that. There’s an option in-game to refer to him as “they” in conversation and he ends up liking it a lot.

Of course everyone is absolutely welcome to headcanon their genders and sexualities however they want to! That’s part of the fun hehe

WAIT. The name of the game is Seven Deadly Skeletons, and it sounds a lot like seven deadly sins- ARE THE BOYS BASED OFF OF SINS?????

Somewhat! I mainly just named it that because it sounded fun, buuuut, they are loosely matched up. Just not for the reasons you might think. So here’s all them matched up with their reasonings! (They have to do with their individual character backstories more than the proper meanings of each)

Brute(horror) - Sloth - has given up trying to get out of his contract or get into a better situation

Shark(fell) - Wrath - Rude, mean, BRUTAL in battle

Flint(swap) - Pride - refuses to admit he’s not perfect or affected by his previous experiences

Vile(swapfell) - Envy - jealous of the others’ self-assuredness, jealous of their familial relationships, jealous of MC’s interest in them(when not on his route), he has a lot to be envious of

Glare(dust) - Greed - very selfish/possessive in personality, demands a lot of time and resources to himself

Shiv(killer) - (blood)Lust- self-explanatory, his emotions are severely dampened so he uses fighting/killing to get some highs

Nightmare - Gluttony - He thirsts for power and refuses to give up until rights to using the multiverse as a giant personal battery (and the indentured work and loyalty of MC and the others) are completely and undoubtedly his.

OF COURSE these can be switched around, all of them fit every one of them if you look at em differently, but here’s my interpretations of them.

Yep! Solo, though, I don’t have a team to help me with the art or coding or anything, I’m doing it myself, so it takes longer. I’ve been working on The Seven Deadly Skeletons for a couple years now, including the few hiatuses I took for mental health reasons.

But I’m back on the grind now and the demo is almosr halfway done, in it’s final stages, so I’m gonna re-open the discord server for you all to join and hang out with the rest of us in :}

What do you do for backgrounds? I'm so curious!!! I've been wanting to make a small dating sim on my own and the one thing I struggle with is backgrounds :[, any tips?

You know what, that was one of the huge blockages that kept me from progressing. I don’t know how to draw backgrounds at all, so I went from thinking about 3D sketching them and hiring someone else to do it, but I eventually just landed on taking stock images and editing them to match the colors I want! So for TSDS, i’m just using a bunch of castle stock images and editing them to have nightmare’s colors, so a blue/purple tint and some black bricks. It’s MUCH quicker, and works well!

TL;DR: edit stock images to fit what you need!

This multiverse is really interesting so far!! I’m very excited to learn more about it in the game :3

How many characters are going to appear in the game once it’s out? I know that NM’s gang is the focus (and I’m definitely looking forward to learning about them!!), but will we see or hear about any other characters?

Yes, you will! One of the game’s events is a gathering of the meta multiverse characters, so you’ll have the chance to meet all of my versions of Fresh, Error, and Dream. Maybe even Reaper and Geno, who knows? That and MAYBE Ink. If he decides he’d want to show up to such a thing.

Fresh, Dream, and Error do already all have designs and everything :}

I’d love to design TSDS versions of Reaper and Geno at some point. Let me know if y’all would be interested in me doing that!
