#tumblr insists that i reset the password via the email i used for the blog

Did you lose your password? Because you can change your email on desktop at least...

I have it but even with the password they want me to reset it via email /before I am able to log in/ and I don’t have the email I made the account under anymore.

Like, I have contacted the university I went to and everything like the Tumblr people asked. I offered to pay to get my uni email address back or even just have a new one made under the same address so the reset email would have a destination instead of going to an address that no longer exists. They insisted this was not possible. Tumblr customer service absolutely refused to consider any method by which I could change my account’s email without logging in via web browser, and without logging in I can’t change my email, and without the original email address I used to make the account I am locked out because of a sitewide update several years ago that forced everyone to change their password…which requires your account email.

They stupidly didn’t put any measures in place to prevent phone apps from continuing to have moved access, and even more stupidly they didn’t build the app to include basic functionality for changing your account settings. And I don’t want to uninstall it on my phone because it’s the last way I have to access this blog and there’s always a chance that in the future there might be a solution they won’t consider now.
