3 domain name ideas: BeatBuilders, BeatBrewery, TuneFactory
My favorite domain name was either BeatBuilders or BeatBrewery. Both had nice rings to it, and both met the requirements of the average amount of characters that should be in a domain name, but BeatBuilders has less syllables in it, so it’s faster to say. Brewery also isn’t a word you hear everyday compared to builders, so it’s simpler to understand at first as well.
I used the godaddy tutorial (just because it was aggressively advertised in the videos, I don’t see why not), the link is below
https://www.godaddy.com/help/web-and-classic-hosting-help-guide-32377
Here’s my dict
DNS- Domain Name system- converts names to internet addresses
TLD- Top Level Domain, the domain at the top of the hierarchy of DNS’s on the internet
WHOIS- website that lets people track website makers’ personal information
ICANN- Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, they’re an organization that creates and maintains databases
Jump Link- Links that take people to a specific part of a page, so if I had a website of a pokedex, and wanted to look up bulbasaur, it would take me to a specific page with bulbasaur
Navigation Table- section of a graphical user interface made to help out users that want to find info on the website.

New Song of the Week: Angels- The xx
The first single from the eagerly awaited second album ofLondonsensations The xx gives the impression as they have never been away, as Angels has the mellow, intimate, reverb-filled atmosphere and melodic simplicity of their Mercury-nominated debut album xx. Despite hints that the bands musical direction would lead towards a more club influenced, this first effort is effortlessly downbeat and understated, with the typically treble-heavy guitar, gliding bass, and Jamie Smith’s fading percussion parts on the peripheries. This charming minimalistic indie pop bodes well for the album’s release in September, and marks evolution not revolution in the journey of this enormously talented bunch of youngsters, who will cement their place in the nation’s hearts.

On Repeat This Week: San Cisco: Awkward
Teenage indie-poppers from Western Australia San Cisco caused quite a stir in their homeland in 2011 and released their second EP Awkward in February 2012. The title track may not be filled with clever lyrics but sums up what this bunch of enthusiastic youngsters are about. It is effectively a feel good indie pop song about the trials and tribulations of technology dominated teenage relationships. The low-fi sound guitar chords, and bright melodies create a naïve freshness and sense of good fun that is sweet and harmless. Falling somewhere between catchy and annoying, this upbeat indie tune fills you with youthful optimism, that makes it very hard to reach for the pause button.

Live Performance of the Week: Warpaint: Majesty (Rough Trade Sessions)
Warpaint are renowned for their tendency to tweak their songs and improvise, to the point that their live shows often descend into long jams, and this eight minute version of Majesty is a beautiful example. The completely new intro with repeated spindly guitar and eerie vocal harmonies eventually gives way to the thumping drums, and rumbling, deep bass line. The wonderfully thick, rich bass tones of Jenny-Lee Lindberg are always a strong feature of Warpaint’s deep, psychedelic sound, but the verse is another level. The glorious rhythm section is complemented by Theresa Wayman’s faultless, gripping vocal during the groovy verse and more spacious chorus. Far from the best song on the album, however this version of Majesty sees the four-piece take things further through layers of intertwining guitar, and emphatic sonic rises and falls. Warpaint really are prolific aren’t they?

New Song of the Week: Alt-J: Tessellate
The genre defying debut album from Cambridge-based art rock band Alt-J has caused quite a stir in recent months, and its third track Tessellate is no different. The strange chemistry between the dub-step rhythms and folky instrumentation and melodies is truly refreshing, making Tessellate a gem. The mish-mash of influences, instruments, and flavours is all glued together by the magical voice of lead singer Joe Newman that has a refreshingly unique soulful quality. After Tessellate’s odd piano intro is joined by a brilliant slow groove, and fluid, moody bass line, Newman shows his immense talent through his phrasing, and lyrical prowess with the highly imaginative ‘Bite chunks out of me, you’re a shark and I’m swimming, My heart still thumps as I bleed, and all your friends come sniffing’. The uniqueness of their sound, and considerable online following mean that Alt-J still have a lot more to give in the future, but for the moment these innovative songs are simply enchanting, especially Tessellate, a beautifully deep and moody pop song.

On repeat this Week: Bon Voyage: No Paradise
The final track on Bon Voyage’s self titled debut album, No Paradise is fantastically downbeat, dreamy synthpop tune that at the same time creates a vibe full of hopelessness. The band came into being in the late 90s, consisting of Jason Martin, of Starflyer 59, and his wife, Julie, but achieved little or no commercial success. Their sound follows a similar formula, to that of New York indie-darlings The Drums; contrasting effortlessly simple dreamy pop with catchy melodies with the underlying darker tones of desperation and disillusionment. The repeated lyrics in the chorus ‘They know their lies, they’re just made up, I know your friends, they’re just messed up, Sometimes this life’s no paradise’, evoke so much sadness, and hopelessness. Julie Martin’s melancholic voice is surrounded by the sweet tones created by the chilled synths and bright guitar, in what is a fantastic downbeat pop song.

On repeat this week: Mount Kimbie: Spanish Sahara remix
Foals’ 7 minute epic Spanish Sahara has been one of the most remixed songs of the last few years, to the extent that Deadboy’s attempt featured on the album Total Life Forever. Few have managed to capture the melancholic atmosphere of the original track with a twist quite like post-dubstep pioneersMountKimbie. The ambient, quirky haunting soundscapes created on this remix are magical, as the dreamy echoes and reverb, alongside chopped up everyday percussive sounds delve further into sonic depths than the original itself. Although the dance duo decide not to use the whole seven minutes of rises and falls, the remix does not lose its tension and varying texture. A great remix, of a great song, by a great artist, who is leading the way in the post dubstep movement towards lighter more chilled dance music.

New Song of the week: The Other Tribe: Skirts
Although six member dance group The Other Tribe formed a few years ago in Bristol and have now played a fair number of live shows, their stomping first single is not due to be released until later this summer. And it is summer that springs to mind immediately in to intro to Skirts, as African pitched percussion is joined by the effortlessly catchy vocal line that will be firmly stuck in your head for days to come. ‘Hit me up in the summertime, when the length of your skirts is just right’ may be repeated over and over, but you will be whistling, humming or singing along regardless, as well as moving to the distorted bass, and thumping four to the floor. These guys really are tribal, mixing a solid house format, with flavours of world music, such as polyrhythms and African drumming. I would be surprised if there is a catchier feel good dance tune out this summer.

New Song of the Week:
The final track from Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (aka Orlando Higginbottom’s) debut album, Stronger begins with just the vocal line ‘The feel I love in you is making me stronger’, and is then joined by a mean bouncy bass line. The build up continues with the entry of intricate percussion patterns, serene vocals, and uplifting synthesiser, as Higginbottom manages to combine house and techno with ease. The combination of varying textures and shades, along with the incredibly catchy riffs, make this a great end to the record, and on its own a sublime dance track. This guy is going to be huge.
