Here’s to more al fresco breakfasts while the winter weather lasts. @splendourfields sweet corn fritters with a poached egg, harissa, kale and bacon reminds me of the one I always have @bill.granger @grangerandco in London and @billsaustralia in Sydney. The flat white was perfection too. • #TravelswithaGourmet #TWAGDubai #Splendourfields #yum #breakfast #JLTPark #MyDubai #foodies #FoodieDubai (at JLT, Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqFtFv1voEB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Ladies lunch at the #MythosUrbanGreekEatery in #TheSquareatCityWalk • We shared several starters: taramasalata, pita, Horiatiki salad, sautéed mushrooms Tiganiki. • This was followed by the Joseph-grilled sea bass with wild greens and cauliflower, grilled calamari, and zucchini fries. Another friend joined us a bit later and ordered another Horiatiki salad and the chicken souvlaki. Two of us also had a glass of wine each, one red and one white. Total bill per person for our group of six, including tip, was an amazing 106 AED per person. • We didn’t have time for dessert or coffee today but will save that for another day. • @mythosdubai always delivers great food, friendly service and best of all very reasonable prices. I’m always hoping this will be the way forward for the Dubai restaurant scene. • #TravelswithaGourmet #TWAGDubai #MyDubai #MythosDubai #yum (at City Walk Dubai) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp2dhyvPOJB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

So many new restaurants have opened since the start of the year. The best part is that a lot of them are small homegrown concepts that are often unlicensed, seldom overpriced and mostly delicious. • One of these is @itadaku_dubai which is family-run Japanese restaurant in a strip mall on Al Wasl road. • Step into the traditional noren (short curtains) into a light-filled space with bleached wood accents. There are tables on one side and the long open kitchen counter on the other plus a couple of private rooms. • Since #itadaku has only been open a few days, they’re starting slow with a set lunch (teishoku) where you choose one main course from a selection of four: chicken teriyaki, mixed tempura, grilled salmon or tofu which comes with five vegetable side dishes, rice and soup all for 98 AED. I also had an iced barley tea for 18 AED. • The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented in different ceramic dishes by the smiling, efficient Japanese team. • We shared a flan for dessert (usually 20 AED) which was compliments of the chef along with some green tea. • They have a more extensive a la carte dinner menu with robata, tempura and other classics. Sushi and ramen will be available in March. • Itadaku is a welcome addition to the Dubai restaurant scene with its’ traditional food and authentic experience, just like how they do it in Japan. You’re welcome. • #TravelswithaGourmet #TWAGDubai #japanesefood #foodie #foodiegram #MyDubai #dubairestaurants (at Al Wasl Vita Dubai) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoXCihzKCWV/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#SaturdaysatSucre is the weekly brunch @sucredubai where you have four options: Por el Fuego (370/person soft drinks) Por la Pasión (440/person for wines & cocktails) Por la Gente (590/person for sparkling wine) Viva Sucre (690/person for champagne) • A gin basil or sangria is offered as soon as you’re settled at your table - we chose the refreshing gin basil to start. • After making your choice, a few dips with stuffed olives, plantain chips and focaccia is served. • Then the proper brunch food begins: four cold appetizers, three hot starters, followed by your choice of main course which comes with three sides. I enjoyed a glass of Lapostolle Carmenere with my main course as well. • A massive dessert selection beautifully presented with all things dulce de leche is set up in the middle of the restaurant. There were all the typical Argentinian classics: alfajores, rogel, bolas de fraile, medialunas and lots more. • At this point, the live music is turned up and people start getting up to dance in the lounge area. What a great way to start the year with a place that serves both food and fun in abundance. • Muchisimas gracias #SucreDubai por la buena onda! • #TravelswithaGourmet #TWAGDubai #yum #brunch #foodie #Igfood #invited (at Sucre Dubai) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnHarIPvX8Q/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Pleasantly surprised with the five-day old @lilataqueria on Jumeirah beach road. • We started with a basket of their homemade tortilla chips, made in-house using their own masa and served with two salsas: a mild tomato and a green jalapeño. We also ordered the guacamole extra. • We started out with the tuna tostada - raw sliced tuna and avocado on a corn tortilla. • Then we shared three tacos: lamb al pastor carne asada chipotle camaron • Tacos were good, interesting flavors and textures. Our favorite was the smoky sweet chipotle shrimp tacos. We also asked for a side of “kids quesadilla” - Mexican cheese on a flour tortilla for C. We ordered two extra baskets of tortilla chips too. We also met Lila who was busy running around as the restaurant was full. • Churros for dessert with a chocolate dip. • Loved the vibe and the price point - we spent 507 AED for the four of us for all that food plus a couple of cokes and two still waters. We’ll definitely be back. • #TravelwithaGourmet #TWAGDubai #LilaTaqueria #yum (at Jumeirah Beach Road) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmuE_kfqiCs/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Last night’s white party to celebrate E’s milestone birthday and at a beautiful home in Jumeirah. If not for the Burj Khalifa framed by those palm trees, we could have been in Ibiza. • It was the perfect way to kick off the winter season with a beautiful crowd of Dubai “old timers” all dressed in white, amazing roast lamb on a spit by @kharoufkhazzaka plus a tarte au citron 60th birthday cake and macarons from @odeondubai • #TravelswithaGourmet #TWAGDubai #Jumeirah https://www.instagram.com/p/CkC8B8nJzRp/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Filipino food is meant to be shared and the best way is either with family or friends who are family. • Dinner tonight @kooyafilipinoeatery was one of those nights where we invited @bigfatrestauranteur to try some new dishes from the evolving menu at #KooyaFilipinoEatery • We started with the pineapple dilis then their bulalo (bone marrow), sisig, monggo guisado and palabok. Thanks also for sharing your tapa stash with us! • Dessert was turon and their giant halo-halo. You know a dinner’s gone well when we end up closing the restaurant. • Thanks @chefjayps and @camanglo for your hospitality, your generosity and for always giving us a taste of home. • #TravelswithaGourmet #TWAGDubai #FilipinoFoodForward #yum #DubaiFoodie #foodie (at Kooya Filipino Eatery) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj6I-OkqBS3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

We don’t do date nights but we do beach days on Fridays, usually at @marebybussola • We shared a fritto misto, tuna tartar and a bruschetta topped with cherry tomatoes, olives and artichoke. • A sunny day, a cool breeze, relaxing tunes from the dj and the view of the sea. Better than date nights right? • #TravelswithaGourmet #TWAGDubai #MarebyBussola #DubaiBeach https://www.instagram.com/p/CjtBFyzK64e/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Such a treat to visit a restaurant for the first time and be pleasantly surprised at how everything makes sense with a concise menu of interesting dishes, very good food, great service, fantastic interiors, perfect lighting and a cool second floor bar and cigar area. • @chicnonnadubai with its street entrance and large green door feels like a beautiful townhouse, perhaps owned by a “chic nonna”. • Standout dishes were the vitello tonnato, the thin crust focaccia with cheese, the fusilli al ferretto with clams, bottarga and courgette flowers along with the @lapostollewinescl #Apalta Carmenere blend. • #TravelswithaGourmet #TWAGDubai #ChicNonna #DIFC #dubairestaurants (at Chic Nonna - Dubai) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjJFeQJqkS4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
