uwu this one was a fun one!! It was nice to reflect back and see how far I’ve come as a person. It was nice reading all your posts, too!! It’s great to know that you’ve all been working hard to improve yourselves - keep it up, dears, I’m rooting for you!!

My Past Self:

Tired 24/7. Stressed over practically everything. Never really bothered with haircuts bc I never really cared about my looks, so my hair was always really long and messy. Never bothered fixing it besides tying it in a low ponytail or keeping my hair away from my face with headbands. I was actually born and raised in the US, and moved to the Philippines when I was entering high school, so I was extremely shy and stayed in my shell due to various reasons. Disliked dressing up and rejected skirts/dresses/”girly” stuff bc I never really saw the point?? I had few, but very meaningful friendships, which I have still maintained ‘til this day!

My Present Self:

Hooooo boy. I have changed a lot. I’d say that my biggest period of growth in life was from 3rd year high school up ‘til I graduated from nursing school. It took me a lot to become the person that I am today. Still tired and still stressed, but I have much healthier coping mechanisms and can deal with this part of me so much better. I take much better care of myself, including my appearance. I have naturally thick, straight hair so I like to grow it out til it reaches my waist and then I hack it off shoulder-length and donate it to institutions that make free wigs for cancer patients. When it’s long, I like to put in the effort to style it into intricate braids and buns to keep my hair cute & functional - I started doing this when lots of people complimented me on how nice my hair is and always liked to run their hands through it / fix my hair for me. My personality has changed radically; I’m still a bit subdued and shy - lots of my professors have told me I have a very gentle but firm personality (sa mga Pinoy diyan, I’ve been told that I am the textbook definiton ng isang dalagang Pilipina). I finally learned to embrace my femininity! In retrospect, I think what held me back from “girly” things was that I didn’t like the connotations being a “girly-girl” has (SMASH THE PATRIARCHY). So yeah, I put a more conscious effort into my appearance and allow myself to enjoy things that I didn’t let myself enjoy back then. :)
