pardon me for getting rambly, everyone on my bed is there bc they're special to me 🥹 i had a lot of stuffed toys when i was a kid (they were so cheap in the 2000s!!!), the rest are in a bin in my closet

this lil seal pup i got from ocean park in hong kong, he's a tad misshapen now that i look at him 🥺 been ten years maybe. he sits next to my pillow, sometimes we touch noses when i turn my head (vaseline for scale)

and my ty pluffies!! i had to google their line bc i got them when i was really small 😣🫶🏻 their material is my favorite, very inoffensive and almost towel-y. their tag calls it tylux fabric. i have lovesy the puppy and catnap

and bunny is my first plushie ever, my cousin gifted it when i was a baby which means she's 24 years young 🥺🫶🏻 definitely seen better days, she used to have whiskers 😣 her rattle still works though!! bunnybaby from the ty pillow pals line

ohhhh nonnie you've made me go down memory lane 😭 all of these are considered retired and vintage now. ty was a huuuge part of my childhood, now they're only dping beanie boos :(( it's so sad to see

They’re made from a custom material only used in ty products called TyLux

Pluffies we’re also Ty’s third attempt at a line of plushies meant for baby (originally they tried Baby Ty then Pillow Pals, and then eventually recently back to Baby Ty

Oh boy here we go! It's our first Merlin of THREE!! This one is related to the "Halloweenie" Merlin but not the "Original" Merlin. Not only that, but there's a black/orange DRAGON named Merlin! What the hell!

Side note, I stuffed his hat. Originally it is unstuffed

Pluffies were introduced in mid 2002 sporting a new fabric type dubbed "TyLux" with its main draw being machine washable.

This particular Merlin is from the 2005 Pluffies line. He's got real little eyes and a fat head, I love him. He's also a dust magnet! He shares his hat trim with Alacazam, though Merlin's hat is larger. The Halloweenie Merlin is the spitting image, just much smaller, whereas the Original Merlin is completely different. The Weenie was also produced in the same year as this one, so the likeliness is probably intentional.

This is a 2003 Ty Pluffies Tinker The Light Blue Soft Teddy Bear Plush and it is pretty cute while also super soft.

This 2003 Ty Pluffies Tinker The Light Blue Soft Teddy Bear Plush no stuffing on the ears, nose, and tail.

The paw hands, the butt area, the paw feet have pellets or plastic beans in those areas with very soft stuffing in all parts of this plush.

The eyes are hard plastic.

The 2003 Ty Pluffies Tinker The Light Blue Soft Teddy Bear Plush was in good used condition but may have wear on the hang tag, bends on the hang tag, wear on the eyes, scratches on the eyes, a patch of fluff missing on the left side of the neck, under the chin, with the belly, dirt on the plush I will try my best to clean, and extra strings loose. 

 The plush has its tush tag and its hang tag.

The hang tag does have a bent crease on its hang tag and ware on the hang tag but is in a hang tag protector.

On the left side on the neck under the bear's head, at the bottom of the chin, with the belly there is some fur missing from the previous owner.

The plush is 8 inches from the top of the head to the belly and 10 inches from the top of the ear to the foot.

The front of the hang tag says ty Pluffies TM.

 The center of the hang tag says The Pluffies Collection TM ©TY Inc. ©TY Canada . ©TY Europe.  ©TY Japan. ©TY Asia. ©TY Australia. Tinker TM The To: from: is blank.

 The back of the hang tag says SAFETY PRECAUTION.

Please remove all swing tags and other accessories.

OKAY, THERE ARE FOUR WAYS TO MAKE A STORY LIKE THIS WORK, the idea of a series of five different stories in a mini-series about how Darth Vader is seen by the people around him. 1.  A psychological study of the character.  Which is pretty much what Dark Lord of the Sith did and I think a 25 issue series works far better for something like that anyway, rather than a mini-series. 2.  An exploration of what a sad, pathetic garbage bag Darth Vader actually is. You can contrast it against what terrifying things he can accomplish, but you need a deft hand to show that it goes right along with the sad, monstrous, pathetic choices he made to get to where he is. 3.  Make it so incredibly over the top that it goes from badass into being hilarious.  Seeing Darth Vader being the most extra asshole cat in the galaxy can be amazing entertainment and I still maintain that issue #1 pulled that off really well. 4.  A genuine exploration of how terrifying Darth Vader is to people who have no idea what’s going on behind that mask.  This also requires a deft touch to not slide over into masculine power fantasy stuff. I really want to give this issue the benefit of the doubt, that it’s doing a combination of #3 and #4 deliberately, but I don’t think those two things go together very well.  I can’t take Tylux seriously as someone driven to the brink of insanity over his fear of Darth Vader when it’s in the same issue as him LITERALLY RAMMING A STAR DESTROYER DOWN AN EXOGORTH’S THROAT AND SLAMMING THROUGH THE OTHER SIDE SO THE SHIP IS COVERED IN INTESTINES AND GORE. I just don’t see the two going together very well, no matter how it’s written.  I don’t care about some obscure Imperial’s overdramatics when he’s not a character I have any emotional investment in or who is particularly cool.  It’s the shadow of Vader that’s meant to be the real star, but that doesn’t mean much when he’s not actually on the page doing anything, and the antics are so exaggerated that I can’t take them seriously. Which means I can take any mental strain seriously, because that too is completely and utterly exaggerated.  Yes, Darth Vader is legitimately terrifying, but this is just too much, there’s not enough deftness in the issue to make me care.  As a follow up to what was a really genuinely fun first issue, this feels like a tribute to all of my least favorite things about Darth Vader--the idea that he’s badass and cool, that he’s a power fantasy, instead of a story about a sad garbage bag who is miserable.  I would love to be talked around on this issue or to be wrong, I’ll certainly pick up the next issue next month, but if it tries to play the whole “is love enough to match the power of the dark side?” straight, I’m gonna make the writer go rewatch Revenge of the Sith, so they can understand that the movies already answered this question. IF ANAKIN SKYWALKER WOULDN’T TURN BACK FOR PADME OR OBI-WAN, HE’S NOT GOING TO TURN BACK FOR SOME RANDOM, SO THIS FUCKIN’ BETTER BE SOME HILARIOUS ONE-SIDED SHIT.

Onyx is a 2010 Barnes and Nobles exclusive Pluffies baby and he ruined my life

September 2nd, 2018 BeanieBabyOfTheDay posted Onyx the Cat. This post would change my life.

And so with minimal research and a vague goal in mind I set out on my journey. Over the years I would buy the grand majority of my babies from Ebay, a few from Amazon, a couple from stores irl, and the rest from Ty.com

However... there was one baby that eluded me. I had set up my Ebay very early on to email me every time someone listed this baby, and for years I got false hits. Finally, in May of 2021, 2 1/2 years after I started my journey, a listing went up. It was for Onyx. Onyx, the first baby I ever saw. The Onyx that inspired me to start collecting. The ffffffucking Barnes and Noble exclusive baby, Onyx, had really finally and truly gone up for auction. $40 later he was mine.

He nearly had me convinced that perhaps he never existed. Pluffies is not a well documented line and I just never saw him for so long. He is my precious baby boy and I love him dearly. His eyes are filled with nothing but kindness.

It's crazy how something as little as a "Baby of the day" can drastically change your life 🥰
