16 October 2023 [Letterpress and TypeGrid Workshop]

We did a letterpress workshop; a relief printing process which leaves a unique visual and tactile imprint and learning to set type by hand, allowing us to explore more of the fundamental concept of typography.

We learn to arrange the letter one by one, stack it together, and do the press both manually and with the help of the automatic machine.

Later on the day, we had a short talk session about TypeGrid with Briony

We learnt about differences between typefaces like serif and sans serif, exploring the adobe fonts app to help discover shapes, colours, fonts, etc in just one shot, and we also did some exercise relating to typefaces, fonts, and layout grid.
