Maura's Particular Brand of Insecurity (Moral Fixation)
I think it's just so interesting that Maura needs proof for everything, apparently except for this unfounded belief that there is something evil or horribly corrupt in her.
[Maura comparing herself to Hoyt after he suggests they're similar]
[Maura being convinced that her profession makes her similar to her mob boss father and criminal brother]
[Maura literally begging Jane to arrest her for harbouring Ian Faulkner (subtitles wouldn't sync, but in the first gif she says "I harboured a fugitive. So go ahead and arrest me.") Like, she literally asks to be arrested twice, straight-faced.]
[Maura believing that part of why her birth mother can't love her is because she has fundamental evil within her]
[Maura being yet still bothered by her birth mother's attack on her character]
Isn't it just so funny how she always ties it to love? How she thinks of herself as unworthy of it? How Jane is always the one to comfort her and tell her she's good? Ugh, I love this show.
