On the left: Uhō Dōji (雨宝童子), one of the eight great boy deities guarding Hase Mountain (初瀬山) as well as a Buddhist manifestation of the sun goddess Amaterasu Ōmikami (天照大御神), as fashioned by the Buddhist sculptor Unshū (運宗) from 1537 to 1544 
On the right: Nanda Ryūō (難陀龍王), one of the eight great dragon kings sometimes also worshipped here as the Deity of Kasuga Shrine (春日明神), as rendered by the Buddhist sculptor Shunkei (舜慶) in 1316
