Jun Takahashi's Undercover runway collection for Paris Fashion Week Spring Summer 2024.

After the "regular" collection these three live designs were sent down a dimly lit runway and walked between the columns of the car park and chandeliers. Fitting to the name of collection - Deep Mist - these designs and the lighting evoked an eerie atmosphere. The glowing gowns had a habitat incorporated into them which featured butterflies flying around and an array of plants and flowers.

These three gowns represent the designer's grief and the will to break free from it.

Jun Takahashi apologized afterwards for using live butterflies and vowed to not use them and other live animals again! I'll have to admit it's an insane and gorgeous effect but considering the state of nature and the dying of insects due to global warming it's irresponsible. Luckily these were just three standout pieces, and an extra to the collection as I understood it, like a personal project. It kind of would have the same effect, because the habitat is misty and foggy, if he had used artificial or preserved butterflies attached to a wire/spring which would bounce with every step the model takes...

Défilé finale @parisfashionweek At @undercover_lab, Jun Takahashi masterfully encapsulated beauty. His sharp suits, casual hoodies, bomber jackets, and trench coats, were all encased in sheer organzas, which sometimes revealed each garment's inner workings. Also enclosed-but not trapped-were flowers and butterflies in dresses built as terrariums; but worry not. Afterwards, the butterflies were set free. #pfw
