[Fic] The dangers of camping in the valley's forests
You know what Stardew Valley needs? More cryptids and unknown creatures. Also more fics with Jadu and Gill.
Jadu wrapped his cloak tighter around him. He actually liked whenever Camilla was sending him to visit Marlon, listening to him and Gill share stories and gossip around the campfire was always a delight, but he really couldn't get used with the weather in the Valley. Autumn nights here were always bitter cold for him, used with either the desert heat or the dry cold nights of the Badlands, not these humid winds that seem to seep into your bones. He took another gulp of hot mulled wine and looked up at the mountains.
The nature surrounding them was already shrouded in darkness despite the sky still having a greyish orange tint from the setting sun. The vegetation was too thick to see even a foot forward and to someone trained to fight in open terrain of the corrupted desert it felt really claustrophobic. Shadow brutes, or any monster really, could be just a few steps away from him and he wouldn't be any wiser.
Jadu moved closer to the fire, feeling his teeth start to clatter. Really, he wasn't a child any longer to get scared by creepy stories told around the fire. But he couldn't help but feel that the shadows between the trees were unnaturally dark. He realized that Marlon stopped speaking a while ago and that made him tense suddenly. What was happening?
Looking up he noticed both Marlon and Gill staring at the same spot... tree? Jadu tried to see whatever got their attention but there didn't seem to be anything there. A sound then came from the darkness, like a stream of water running over rocks. Were they this close to the river? But listening closer he could also hear whispers, like a group of people were close by speaking silently with each other. Jadu gripped the wand stashed in his robes.
He was started to feel dizzy. This odd noise of water and whispers reminded him when he was training with Camilla by the river. He still didn't know what potion she gave him that time, but it was supposed to help him communicate with the elementals. The river then started to speak with him in a similar way, to call him with whispers hidden beneath the clear sound of running water, awfully familiar, and Jadu knew that he would be able to understand what it was telling him if only he could get a little closer. He could feel his mouth numb, a weird sweet taste on his tongue. He was so close to the water now, only a step forward and he could fall in the river to join the whispers, when a hand shot up to stop him from drowning himself.
Jadu jumped violently pulling the wand from his robes only to point it at Gill. "Sorry lad, but you looked really out of it." Gill apologized before removing his hand from his shoulder. Jadu was still panting trying to figure out what was happening. He could feel sweat on his back despite the cold air surrounding them.
"That owl is back." Marlon said in a tired voice. Jadu looked at the scarred adventurer then back at the same tree Marlon has been watching before, but he still couldn't see anything. Gill patted his shoulder without a word and pointed at a branch higher up in the tree and that's when Jadu noticed it. It was a small white owlet with black spots all over its feathers, small enough that could fit in the palm of his hand, but it was... wrong. Its almond shaped eyes were pitch black, with no pupils or irises, and was that a third eye on its forehead or just another black spot?
As soon as he laid eyes on the small owl his head cleared and most of the cold and dread was gone. Were they caused by the critter? Now that he was less confused Jadu could definitely recognize it as a dark elemental, inhuman spirit birthed from the darkness of the forests covering so much of the southern part of the Ferngill Republic.
The owlet opened its small black beak and the same weird water sounds mixed with whispers came out from it. Jadu could feel his ears getting stuffy, and the same coldness was starting to encroach him again. Marlon picked a rock and threw it at the bird who flew off with a horrible scream, like dozens of bats screeching at the same time. Just as it disappeared into the brown dry foliage Jadu noticed that it had a second identical face on the back of its head, it's second pair of eyes staring straight at him, making the hair at the back of his head stand up.
"Don't worry." Marlon reassured him as he poured more hot wine in his mug and urging him to drink. The heat of the wine felt good. "You'll get used with its magic soon enough and it won't affect you this badly."
"It hid into a crack of our roof for a while and we couldn't understand why we kept having nightmares or hallucinated in the middle of the day." Gill chuckled. "It wasn't pleasant, but the owl seems otherwise harmless. It keeps following us around and tries to get back into that crack before we chase it away, so we got used with it by now."
"More and more spirits like that have started to appear. Magnus has been working overtime trying to keep the dangerous ones from getting close to the town so he doesn't have time to chase away the smaller elementals from mingling with humans. We considered requesting a meeting with Camilla but things are under control for now and we don't want to take more of her time."
"Weird." Jadu managed to say before starting to cough. His throat felt weird and dry which made him scowl. Why was he so affected that small spirit?
Marlon gave him a sympathetic look. "Don't beat yourself up lad. You're trained to deal with desert spirits not forest ones. Spend more time here and you'll recognize their magic before they can charm you."
"Yeah." Gill remarked dryly. "Like we did last week when we started accusing each other of whispering in the middle of the night." Marlon huffed amused at that before taking a sip from his own mug.
"I'll speak with Camilla about this, maybe she can think of some solution without the need of a whole council meeting." Jadu picked a dry fish from the pile of food placed between them. "When did it start to happen?"
Marlon and Gill looked at each other for a second before Gill cleared his throat. "When spring came around and the new farmer moved in the valley."
"Farmer?" Jadu was confused. What did a farmer had to do with spirits and elementals acting weird?
"Oh, kid." Marlon sighted. "You have no idea what a long history that cursed farm has."

And The Whirlwind Is In The Tree
Striker's Story - A Helluva AU
Tumblr media
Pairing: Striker and OC Amelda(adoptive father/daughter relationship)
Warnings: angst, whump, hurt-comfort, injury, blood, harsh language, death, gore, killing in self-defense, graphic depictions of violence.
Summary: What if the Angels didn't stop at the Pride Ring? What if they didn't stop on Extermination Day? What if they never stopped? This is Striker's story of how he survived those 7 years of the angel invasion. An Apocalypse type story co-written by two fans! R&R.
Notes: Welcome! This is the start of myself(@storm89) and Candy's story, And the Whirlwind is in the Tree. (It's a lyric from a Johnny Cash Song). It all started from a fan art we saw, and the idea just snowballed from there. We decided to start with everyone's favorite cowboy, Striker. I hope you all enjoy our hard work! Also, big shout out to @eyecandyeoz for being an awesome editor and the bombastic art she made! We don't own Helluva boss, but we do own Amelda.
 Read on ao3 - 1k words
If you asked Striker where he was at Angel Invasion, he would tell you the truth.
He was robbing a corpse.
Whenever there is extermination, he usually waits it out and robs whatever corpses he can find. Sometimes he luckily finds a dead overlord, they carry the best loot.
This extermination felt different.
There was tension in the air, something that made his tail rattle nervously.
For one thing, the sirens rang way earlier than usual and then the angels started swarming;more than usual.
He then saw one kill an imp and then another kill a Goetia.
The rules have changed.
Striker quickly goes to an alley to find cover, trying to outrun the screams he hears.
They seem to be louder than usual.
Windows shatter around him, exploding from the angelic force. He was about to try to run into a building when red feather caught his eye,
He looked and froze.
A red feathered Goetia lay dead on the ground, next to him was a Wrathian female imp. He wondered briefly if they were lovers when he heard a small cry. He looks at a nearby dumpster and finds a surprise..
There was a small owlet sobbing as she hugged herself. Her red feather shows her parentage to the dead Goetia, but the biggest surprise is the nubby imp horns on her head.
A hybrid...like him.
Tumblr media
“This ain't my problem.” he thought as he backed away; his boot breaking a piece of glass. The halfling eyes shot up at the noises and her eyes locked on his.
The two stared at each other, both not moving.
A nearby scream breaks the tense moment and Striker will later blame what happened next to be the result of unnatural imp instinct.
He reached over and grabbed the halfling, breaking into a run. She suddenly screeched, wriggling out of his hold and running back to the fallen Goetia.
“Oh you little shit!” Striker growled as he grabbed the halfling again, noticing she took something from her fathers body.
He didn't know where he was running, all he knew is that he had to find somewhere safe. An angel attempted to cast a charm on him, but he dispatched it quickly with a swift bullet to its head. The owlet gave another screech, making him turn and face the tip of an angelic spear.
Raging pain exploded in his left eye, making Striker roar in pain as he staggered. He felt that same angel throw him towards a wall, making his head spin.
Before he went unconscious, he heard more gunshot and a tiny hand pulling his own.
666
Striker groaned as he woke up. A pulsing pain in his eye made him sit up quickly, making his head swim.
“Take it easy, you gonna make yourself sick.”
Striker looked to the source of the voice and saw it was that imp woman that worked for Blitz. What was her name again?
“It's Millie, by the way.” she said, raising her eyebrow at him. Too many questions popped into his head, his sense trying to catch up with his thoughts.
“Something was different,” he mumbled. “Th-the extermination.”
“Yeah.” She said, “ This wasn’t an extermination. It looked to be more like an invasion. We been hearing that the angels are not just attacking folks in Pride, we heard that somehow they are also going to the other rings.”
Striker sat back, letting the news sink in.
Oh this was a bitch of a fucked up situation. He then glared at her.
“The hell you save me for?” He asked, “We're not exactly friends.”
“We are being invaded for fucks sake.” She said with an exasperated sigh. “We gonna need all the help we can get.”
Striker huffed, he guess that makes sense. A thought suddenly jolted him from his seat.
“Wait there was a kid with me!”
Millie placates him with a raised hand.
“She's fine, don't worry.” She said, “ Really scared, but she ain’t hurt anywhere.”
She then looked at him intensely.
“Why’d you save her?” She asked, “Thought you hated anyone that was royals.”
“I don't know.” He shrugged, “I just felt like I had to.”
Millie nodded, a knowing smile on her face to showcase her paternal understanding. Striker growled at that, his hand running over his own features. He froze when he felt the coarse bandages shielding his face.
“Shit, what's with my face?”
Striker shot out of the bed and rushed to a nearby vanity, removing his bandages with haste as he looked in the mirror.
He had a large gash over his left eye and coarse stitches sealing the open wound shut. His eye was now milky and lifeless. Decrepit.
Tumblr media
Fuck his life.
He was blind in his left eye.
All to save some royal bastard.
“Hey.” Millie said, getting his attention. “You gotta get yourself together. Pride isn't safe anymore.”
“So where are you going?”
“Lust. It way safer than Pride.”
“What makes you think I will go with you?” Striker scoffed.
“Cause there's nowhere else to go?” She said with a shrug, about to leave, but then looked back at him, “By the way, the little owl’s name. Its Amelda.”
She leaves the room, leaving Striker alone with his thoughts.
666
When Striker finally went outside, he saw a lot of people, mostly Imps, packing whatever they had and going through the ruins.
Sweet Satan, Pride was in shambles.
Buildings were toppled and bodies littered the streets. He could see angels flying in the distance, circling over Pentagram City like vultures.
“Hey!”
He turns and sees Blitz waving at him.
“Your horse is here.” He said, pointing to the side, turning back to the IMP company van. “Get ready, we are leaving in five.”
Striker would argue back but his new blind eye throbbed. He went to his horse (Fuck, he loved this horse so damn much) and petted his fiery mane.
Tumblr media
“Boy, just what the hell did we get ourselves into?”
He heard a chirp behind him and saw Amelda peeking at him from behind a wrecked car. His tail rattled and whipped in annoyance as he sneered at the halfling.
“Piss off,kid!”
The child didn't move, still staring at him with her purple gaze. Millie appeared next to her and gently took Amelda’s hand.
“Come over here, honey.” she said as she led her away, Amelda still watching him.
Striker shook his head and mounted Bombproof, clicking his tongue as he grabbed the reins.
Something has definitely changed, he thought as he looked at Pride's ruins.
Things are definitely going to be different from now on.

Owlet AU: Curse of a Light
Chapter: Prologue/? The First Chirps
>Next>
——————————————————————————————————
It was an okay morning, the weather's good, nothing is screaming, and Hooty haven't woken up yet. Eda walks down to the kitchen, pouring herself a mug of apple blood.
‘Peaceful morning today, huh?’ Eda thought suspiciously, while sipping from the mug, ‘Wonder when the chaos starts.’
"Mor-*YAWN*-ning, Eda..." said Luz tiredly, as she walks down from the attic, trudging towards the bathroom.
"Mornin’, kid. " replied Eda, still sipping on the mug. 'Wait-a-minute, isn't Luz an early riser?'
"Uhhh, Eda? " Luz said from the bathroom, raising her voice in alarm.
'Yeah, somethings not right here. ' The owl lady thought, when her apprentice rushes out of the bathroom to her.
Now that Eda is carefully looking at her, she noticed the small feathers dotting on the humans face and arms. 'Wait, feathers!? ' Eda yelled in her mind, panicked at the implications.
"Luz, humans don't grow feathers, right? "
"No, Eda, no they don't. "
"......" Silence ensued in the room.
"AAAAHHHHH-!!! " Which quickly dissolves into panicked screaming.
"Gah, what's with all the screaming!? " King exclaimed as he barged into the room, scampering on all fours.
"King, what did we do yesterday that's weird and unnatural!? " Luz asked him, clutching on the feathers, nearly in hysterics.
"Just the body swapping! What, what happened? " the King of demons replied, panicked.
"Because I woke up this morning with feathers! " yelled the human, then she felt her hands itching, "And now my hands are turning, qué me está pasando!? "
"Quick, lock yourself in my room, it should hold you in for a few moments! King, go get the elixir! " Eda quickly told Luz as she carries her upstairs like a sack of potatoes. King rushes to the crates containing the said potions, face falling in dismay when all he saw was an unfinished bottle from yesterday Eda drank from.
"Eda, we're out of elixir already! All we had left is only enough for a gulp!" King told her, while Luz ran in the room, locking herself in.
"WHAT!?" Eda exclaimed, obviously panicking.
"You heard me! It's only a gul-wait, you heard that?"
"Heard what!?" said Eda incredulously.
"Shhh! Listen," and she did, putting her ear close to the door. That's when a small screech accompanied with whimpers came from the door, almost like... chirping.
"I'm going in," said Eda, making a spell circle and unlocking the door, "No, wait-" said King as he tried to stop her, but she didn't care, focusing on getting in the room and checking on Luz.
At first sight, they thought an unknown animal had already break into the house, curling up in the nest, but that was quickly proven wrong. An owl beast, much smaller and younger than Eda's owl was trying to hide in the nest, looking frightened and confused.
It has dark brown fur and feathers all over it's body, with the exception of oak brown hairs on its limbs and neck fluff. Dark speckles scattered near its joints, while white spots are on its dark chest and belly fur, like stars on a night sky. And it's face,
It has Luz's face, with dark, dark eyes and the expression of a scared, helpless child.

*Shows up late to the Stucky/Marvel fandom Post-EG with Starbucks and dozens of fics that I’ve read in hand* So you guys like fanfiction?
Yeah so, because of quarantine I’ve been consuming a ton of fic. I’ve probably read over 1.5 million words in just a couple months. So why not share what I’ve been reading! Note that some of these are older (popular) fics so veteran Stucky peeps will probably know of them since I not too recently delved into the realm that is Stucky fanfic. :)
Down below are over a dozen fics with different tropes, Canon/AU’s, and what not. Please do heed the tags on some of these. For the curious: My AO3 bookmarks.
Also shoutout to @stuckylibrary, the mods over there are doing the lords work.
Key:  ♥ = My fave, S = Smut, DS = Dom/Sub
Heroes are Easy, People are Hard ♥ by Halbereth, Lorien - Words: 152,284 | CW Fix It, Slight Canon Divergence, Recovery, Slow Burn
Shuri and Wanda cleared Bucky's triggers shortly after Killmonger's attempted coup, and he and Steve went on the run. But it turns out there's more to "fixing Bucky's head" than "getting Hydra out of it." When a group of rogue scientists manage to neutralize the serum and make Steve very sick--pre-serum "this is bad" kind of sick--and they're cut off from contact with Wakanda, Bucky knows only one person with resources to help. He calls Tony and surrenders on the condition that Tony tries to help Steve.
From there, it's basically three variously messed-up guys’ trajectories from "This Is Fine", "Reasonably Speaking I Know It’s Fine", "I Will Be Fine With It" to actually being fine, guest-starring a far-better-adjusted teenage boy who climbs walls, a 1957 Ford Thunderbird, two women with a keen sense of the absurd, and Bruce, the Zen master of “it’s fine that it’s not fine.” Add in the fact that Bucky's been secretly in love with Steve since the thirties and things only get harder. Learning to be a person is the hardest thing Bucky Barnes will ever have to do--but he's got company along the way.
Reap The Whirlwind by Cristinuke - Words: 18,221 | Canon Universe, Post CW, Domestic
Bucky finds a cat. Or rather, a cat finds him.
Your Favorite Ghost by augustbird - Words: 21,013 |  Canon Divergence, Post TWS
It's harder than Steve ever expected to bring Bucky home.
Despite the threatening sky and shuddering earth (they remained) ♥ by praximeter (Zimario) - Words: 71,532 | Canon Divergence TWS, Body Modifications
“They really didn’t want the mask to come off.” Hill thumbed through the scans, and pulled out a film that she then handed over to Sam, face mostly expressionless but for the flat line of her pursed lips.
Sam accepted the film and held it up to the light, angling so both he and Steve could see it, squinting at the outline of the Winter Soldier’s skull, and the blips of unnatural white that showed up, God, in his brain, not to mention about half his teeth, plus the mask, with its thin protrusions—
“Those are pins,” Steve realized. He looked over at Hill. “The mask—it’s nailed to his face.”
Hill’s face was as unmoved as ever. “Like I said. They really didn’t want it coming off.”
This city bleeds its aching heart ♥ by Renne - Words: 34,537 | Canon Universe, Fake/Pretend Relationship
The one where Steve and Bucky pose as a happily married couple while on a mission for SHIELD, to catch an international arms dealer hiding in a suburban neighbourhood.
The Best Way to Wake ♥ by LeeHan - Words: 42,293 | Post TFA, Canon Divergence TWS, Recovery
James Buchanan Barnes lay in a glass pod in the middle of the table, frozen since he fell. Steve’s hands were on the glass before he realized he’d moved. “Wait, Captain!” “Get him out,” Steve whispered, his hands searching for a clasp, a keypad, something. “Captain, we need to keep him in stasis—“ “I said get him out!”
Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail ♥ series by owlet - Words: 264,438 | Canon Divergence (sort of)
The mission resets abruptly, from objective: kill to objective: protect
Undersell, overcommit by silentwalrus - Words: 10,222 | Canon Universe
Steve goes so hard for Bucky that he becomes a licensed, practicing massage therapist.
Sparked Up Like a Book of Matches by Sena - Words: 26,734 | Post-TWS, Canon Universe
Steve lives in Stark Tower and doesn't have much to do when he's not going after Hydra strongholds. He attends charity events to make Pepper happy. He goes hiking with Sam. He hangs out with Clint in Bed-Stuy and watches Dog Cops. Sometimes Tony gives him super alcohol in a sippy cup. Sometimes he sees Bucky out of the corner of his eye and wonders if it's real or if he's starting to lose his mind.
Alternately, the one with terrible jokes, a foot chase through the Lower East Side, and a tiny little robot named Shitcan.
Sugar Sweet ♥ from the Red Velvet series by ColorCoated - Words: 173,400 | Modern/Sugar Daddy AU, Age Difference, Slow Burn
"What's your name?" It wasn't even a line. He was just pretty and Bucky wanted a name to go with that face. With that strong jawline. With those deep blue eyes. A little smirk, "Steve."
Awww, Steve. He looked like a Steve. Bucky pursed his lips in a way he hoped was attractive, "You should buy me a drink."
College Student Bucky finds himself immediately attracted to Steve. He knows that Steve's a bit older than him, and that Steve himself is put off by the age difference. . . But that doesn't stop Bucky from wanting to climb him like a tree.
Steve and Bucky Go Away for the Weekend (and cook a lot) ♥ by E_Greer -  Words: 30,126 | Canon Universe, Domestic
In which Steve coaxes Bucky out of the Tower for a birthday weekend away and sweet, fluffy domesticity ensues. Phlintasha helps keep Bucky calm, Steve has Opinions about how you set the table, stories are told, greenhouses are toured, baths are had, books are read, tears are shed, stars are gazed upon, and everyone makes Bucky feel loved. Includes Friday night dinner, Saturday morning breakfast, Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, and Sunday brunch.
Dona Nobis Pacem by thegraytigress - Words: 65,214 | Canon Universe, Recovery
"This job... We try to save as many people as we can. Sometimes it doesn't mean everybody, but if we can't find a way to live with that... Next time maybe nobody gets saved."
An incident on the battlefield exposes how much Steve's falling apart under the crushing weight of leading the Avengers after Sokovia. Now Bucky's adopting a new mission: save Steve before he destroys himself completely, even if it means the end of Captain America.
Give 'Em Hope ♥ by L1av - Words: 130,022 | Modern/Hospital AU, UA/Age Difference
Dr. Steve Rogers likes to think that if his patients have hope- their chances of survival will increase. Bucky Barnes has a 20% chance of survival and a desperate yearning to experience life. Against Steve's better judgment, he develops a relationship with his patient. It's illegal. It's wrong. But it's giving Bucky the hope to keep going, so Steve's going to keep giving it, because he wants Bucky to survive. He needs him to.
You belong (to me) by hermionesmydawg - Words: 29,759 | S, DS, Canon Compliant, Post CW
"Hold on." Bucky lifted a finger and backed out of the doorway, returning a moment later with his cell phone. He snapped a photo of Steve, typed a few words, and then returned to his apple. "What the hell were you doing at a sex club last night?"
"Not having sex, if that's what you're wondering." An alert sounded from Steve's nightstand - a new Snapchat message. He rolled his eyes and unlocked his phone. Sam was always sending stupid Snapchats and frankly, Steve couldn't figure that goddamn app out and cursed whoever created that piece of shit.
The chat wasn't from Sam this time, however. It was a picture of himself, not looking guilty at all, with the caption "when your buddy catches you looking at p*rn."
Circling Back from the It’s Not Linear series by chaya - Words: 59,642 (Series Total: 136,782) | Canon Divergence

Bucky's more than happy to glean any extra knowledge (in more than just history) from Steve, and Steve's happy to eductate him. But then Bucky has to decide if he can handle the fact that Steve throws himself into danger, and if the sex is worth it. Or if it's not just sex anymore.
Salt & Sugar by GoldBlooded, stfustucky - Words: 19,598 | Modern/Restaurant AU
Steve Rogers is a bigshot celebrity chef in New York City, and Bucky Barnes is a classically trained pastry chef in Moscow.

Proprietary Information ♥ from the Additional Information series by notlucy - Words: 85,141 (Series Total: 165,871) | Modern AU, Age difference, Slow Burn
Okay, so Bucky Barnes has a crush on Steve Rogers. The guy's gorgeous, talented and, oh yeah, the Chief Design Officer of the biggest tech company in the world. In other words: he's so far out of Bucky's league that he might as well be in a different stratosphere.
Deep in the Woods (Where My Heart Has Been Waiting) by SilverMyfanwy - Words: 15,353 | Pioneer-AU, Shrinkyclinks
Steve Rogers gets lost in the woods in a snowstorm. Bucky Barnes takes him in. Pioneer-era AU ish with Shrinkyclinks, evil chickens and a cabin in the woods.
A Bucky Odyssey by inediblesushi, thorstbench - Words: 9,952 | Shrinkyclinks,  Cap!Bucky, Nurse!Steve
Bucky Barnes, Captain America, has a plan to make Steve Rogers, SHIELD nurse, fall in love with him. Confiding in the Internet might not be the best idea, though. So when the bad pick up lines do not work and Steve looks determined to staying single, he decides to be more himself and less what he thinks he should be.
At first I wanted to wait to post this until I finished a few more fics from my ever growing read-later list but what the heck, now or never! I’ll probably end up making a part 2 reclist by the amount of fic I’m reading these days.
Happy reading and stay safe out there fellow Stucky trash members!!

Hey I’m looking for some recommendations!! I’d like something with Bucky snapping out of his mind washing if there’s any fics about that! Thank you so much!!
TBH pretty much all of the recovery and post-TWS fics are like that. Here are a few specific ones:
There Is No Shortage of Blood (WIP) by Dira Sudis (dsudis)
The long slow recovery of Bucky Barnes after his escape from HYDRA.
(And the longer, slower recovery of his sex life.)
despite the threatening sky and shuddering earth (they remained)  by praximeter (Zimario)

the gravedigger's handbook by idrilka (M, 35K WIP)
Sometimes it's the most difficult thing, coming home. They both learn that, in their own ways. (In the end, Bucky comes back to Steve. In the end, it is all that matters.)
Circling Back by chaya (E, 60K)
Steve looks for Bucky, Bucky finds Steve, Steve tries desperately to put Bucky back together. Bucky tries desperately to let him. (Spoilers for Winter Soldier.)
The man on the bridge by boopboop (AO3 login required) (M, 108K)
Steve Rogers turning up at Tony's door in the middle of the night might be a bit out of character, but it's not completely out of the realm of possibility. Stranger things have happened.
Steve Rogers turning up at Tony's door with an amnesiac assassin - who may or may not have some of Tony's personally designed hardware attached where his arm should be - well that's just far too interesting to turn away, even if Tony is trying to avoid all things S.H.I.E.L.D these days.

In the absence of orders, the man wearing the face of Bucky Barnes must figure out who he will be. The answer, mostly, is "somebody Steve Rogers can love." Nothing so easy should ever take this much work.

💘- A memory that gets their heart pounding
Bently
The young Ink demon panted as he shoved the heavy body of his rival off of him, starling when the sound of clawed footsteps was heard behind him. “Yer Highness..” He managed to breathe, staring up at Stolas who was looking down at him with an unreadable expression on his.
The demon that had attacked him had a black ring of ink around his neck, his windpipe now crushed, the last gurgling whimpers pulling from the frame that had been cast aside ringing out. Stolas looked down at him, then back to Bently. “Well?” He asked, giving an unnatural tilt of his head.
This one step was left...this last hurdle between himself and the promised Glory that the Prince was dangling over his head. His heart raced as he looked to the weakly struggling demon and his eyes narrowed, the slits glowing faintly as ink began to constrict tight once more..
Vivienne
The feline gave herself one final primp as she stepped out onto the curtained stage. The musicians adjusted and gave her adoring glances which she returned with a wink and a playful kiss. She could hear the humming and curious murmurs of the demons behind the curtains and her heart was racing in her chest.
This was her first night stepping out onto the stage, as well as her first night managing the floors of the Casino that Bently had assigned her. It was all running smooth and now it was time to put the cherry on top.
As the curtain parted, a racous explosion of lewd cheers, wolf whistles and pleading cries of “c’mere baby!” rang out and she smirked as the band struck up, her hips bouncing slightly to the beat before she let her voice ring out over the hall, stunning even the most eager of demons to silence.
Stolas
It had been a quiet night, but none the less the Prince was pacing about. There was an anguished scream behind the doors to his left and his head swiveled ALL the way around as it fell quiet, his heart leaping up into his chest. There was movement, scurrying and he could hear Selene cursing softly and the sound of a baby crying
The doors opened and one of the maidservants bowed low when it quieted. “It was a success Your Highness.” She said, Stolas moving past her to Selene who looked rumpled and rather unhappy. “That....was the most painful thing I’ve ever done. I’m not doing it again Stolas.” She said firmly as she was tended to, earning herself a fond smile. “Nor would I ask you my Dear.” A gentle fond nibble of her feathers and she huffed, returning it before she motioned with a hand. “Well go on then...go see.” She said impatiently.Turning to the cradle nearby, there was a tiny little owlet, cleaned, diapered and dressed already, his heart racing as he reached in and scooped up the little bundle. “Our little Cassiopeia...” He murmured, taking in her adorable little features. Wide eyes opened, looking up at him quietly from the bundle of blankets and he couldn’t help but smile. Despite her birth being something...neither of them were too keen about doing, he couldn’t have been happier now that she was here.

Amazing, heart-filled story I read this book any years before the time of this review. I just want to let you know that this is a most wonderful book if you are an animal lover. I am not partial to owls BUT this story in itself says quite a bit in favor of we humans to explore animal life to broaden our perspectives. I thank Stacey O'Brien for writing this book and investing the decades and love that it took to put this story into writing and for sharing her and Wesley's stories with us. I hope that Wesley enjoyed his time with a human as much as I enjoyed reading this story. Go to Amazon
Read it! You will fall in love! I greatly enjoy non-fiction animal books, and this one was a good one. Go to Amazon
I Love This Book! This is a wonderful and educational story of a woman who adopts an injured owl. It is moving, funny, and if you don't cry at the end, you are not human! It is well written and has great illustrations. I liked this book so much that I have a copy of my own and have also purchased 4 copies for gifts. The recipients of the gift books have also been very impressed by the story. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in animals and people. Go to Amazon
Amazing story about an amazing woman and the owl who loved her Not quite finished with this charming book, but enjoying it very much. If you love owls this book is a must read. I am amazed at how challenging it was for the author to take on the task of rIsing an orphaned Barn Owl. As much as I fantisized about (somehow) owning an owl, this reveales the reality of such a challenge and how daunting the responsibility would be to take on such a task. Go to Amazon
The Way of The Owl & The Harmonizing of Opposites... With nearly eighty reviews at the time I write this, there probably isn't much more stellar insight that I can give, which hasn't already been given so much more eloquently. However, I will add my voice to the growing collection in appreciation for the amazing story and for the brave author. This book, for me, was one of my "on a whim" buys. I was poking around for information about owls one night, and the book popped up in the particular search that I was doing. The cover appealed to me, the "Look Inside" feature captured my attention, and I was indeed interested in learning "The Way of the Owl" concept because I actually wondered if it could be compared / contrasted in any fashion to "The Way of the Tao" of Chinese philosophy, the embracing of harmony, allowing nature to take its course, the recognition, yet appreciation for opposites, Yin Yang, etc. I know that is a strange connection to have made! However, something in the preview material I read and the circle-shaped picture on the cover--with the lady and owl--inspired that line of thinking and questioning. Here was a vivid, modern story filled with opposites, all in the process of achieving harmony: male-female; human-bird; civilized-wild; diurnal -nocturnal; educated-uneducated; pain-pleasure; confusion-calm; discomfort-comfort; life-death; hopelessness-hope; weakness-strength; truth-lie; cowardice-courage; good-bad; safety-danger; protection-distruction; spare-kill; justice-mercy; natural-unnatural; predator-prey; fingers-talons; freedom-captivity --to name only a few! I wanted to experience the story for myself. Also...being something of Harry Potter fan, I am attracted to owl stories or clever owls as characters within stories. So, I ordered the book in the expectation that there would be some genuine connections and nuggets of wisdom, spirit, hope, compassion, humor within the pages. Go to Amazon
Wesley the Owl is a beautiful story of a wonderful barn owl and his human Wesley the Owl is a beautiful story of a wonderful barn owl and his human, and how they both grew up together. Who thought an owl could be so lovable? I wish there were more stars to give this book! I was caught from the first page by this wonderful story. How I admire this young woman for her bravery, caring, kindness, intelligence, work ethics, and on and on! I fell in love with Wesley! And, as Stacey said would happen, I cried when he died. Oh, yes!! There is a heaven for our wonderful animal loves - and we will see them again. It's just the getting on without them that is hard. I still tear up over my beautiful Juanita, gone 2 years now. I recommend this book for anyone - not just animal lovers. Everyone will read about a true love between beings that is so life confirming. Bless you, Stacey, for sharing! Go to Amazon

Don't mind me going full-steam ahead into a Bounty Hunter x Flagellant DD2 AU 🙃 ❤️‍🔥 ❤️‍🔥 ❤️‍🔥 MORE DETAILS UNDER THE CUT!!
Damian loses his memory after being subjected to the physical/mental torture of the "cultist" enemies (the majority of his skin is burned and his fingernails have been replaced with metal).
After being "converted" into their group, he looses all sense of who he is. He harbors none of his previous powers/strength, but proves to be resilient against enemy attacks so he serves as a meat shield or remains chained up until they can find further use for him.
One day, an unnatural owlet visits Damian and the flagellant is instantly draw to it, enough to leave his captors/binds with the help of the fledgling’s impressive psychic abilities. He bonds with his newly acquired feathered friend, the two journeying together, the owl leading him somewhere important, feeding him flashbacks/visions of someone he can’t remember.
Damian finally reuniting with Tardif and the bounty hunter can’t believe his eyes. He thought this man was dead. The flagellant is terrified, unable to comprehend his jumbled memories. Having to relearn to be the person he was before, who this man is, and what it all means -- it’s too much. The bounty hunter doing his best to share the burden, mourning over what’s become of his partner and blaming himself. They both have a lot of baggage to sort through, but at least they have an extraordinary pet owl who can help.
