hashida and an art bouquet

every so often my brain decides i need to draw a silly amount of flowers and this time hashida got to (literally) sit in them. i did very light hanakotoba research to make this a sort of. melancholy love and bittersweet desire in reference to wanting to make and see art for hashida. also tried to get that in his expression too. just lots of melancholy thoughts of him lately.

(flowers: red and yellow camilla, white roses, egret orchids, erica tetralix, morning glory, hydrangea, kamchatka lily)

was looking through my last completed sketchbook and remembered i sketched this out in early january. had a very honest moment with myself where i was like "well youve been stuck on this for 5 months so its not getting finished." so im posting this version, before i possibly revisit it? idk. i do like the concept but murai doesnt feel right for whatever reason which usually means ive gotta start over or scrap it. art do be like that sometimes.

if there was a reason for this aside from "i think murai should have a lot of birds" ive forgotten lmao. on the left is my thumbnail and then larger sketch and notes. my process is mostly notes tbh, im a pretty visual learner/worker but if my notes are descriptive enough i dont actually need to draw it. my sketches tend not to change too much between the initial and the final either, though thats pretty intentional. had a delightful time finalizing out the birds, swallows have very nice shapes. (my people stylization vs my fairly realistic animals, fight)

i had this idea about a month ago and finally finished! haruka as one of my favorite major arcana cards in tarot, the hierophant. i waffled between this one and the empress (theyre similar cards) but i think this one fits him a bit better. the framed cutlery/dinnerware are a shout out to chapter 6 when he’s talking to yatora about art being inedible food (i simply wasnt going to do little replicas of paintings in all the frames lmao, this was for fun and thats not my type)
