2023 Hyundai Santa Fe - Houston Auto Web
In the 2021 model year, the Hyundai Santa Fe had a redesign, and in 2022, an extra XRT variant was added. Allow us atHouston Auto Web to go through what to expect from the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe if you're searching for a dependable midsize SUV for you and your family to travel around Oak Creek, West Allis, Racine, and beyond.
Tumblr media
The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe receives less praise than the Korean brand's larger SUV lineup, but it still stands out and has appealing features. The midsize Santa Fe, which sits between the little Tucson and the three-row Palisade, includes two rows of seating and a variety of powertrain choices. An unimpressive 2.5-liter inline-four engine with 191 horsepower is the norm; a stronger turbo-four with 277 horsepower is an option, and it comes with our recommendation. With either front- or all-wheel drive, both engines are offered. Hyundai also provides a hybrid version of the Santa Fe with 226 horsepower and an EPA-rated 36 mpg in the city. The plug-in hybrid vehicle has 260 horsepower, a combined MPGe rating of 76, and an estimated electric-only range of 31 miles. The capacious 2023 Sante Fe, which has a low base price and a comfortable ride, is ranked in the middle of the pack among mid-size SUVs, mostly because of a particularly sluggish base engine.
What's New for 2023?
Other than a reorganization of the basic equipment, not much is different for the Sante Fe in 2023. Depending on the trim level, Hyundai modifies the front fascia and does away with the SEL Convenience package. For improved sound insulation, the SE model and higher models now have acoustic-laminated front windows. They also have puddle lamps that illuminate the area around the doors. The SEL now comes standard with a 10.3-inch center touchscreen, rear sunshades, adaptive cruise control that is based on navigation, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Both of these are now included as standard equipment on all hybrid models, along with a navigation system that can receive updates wirelessly. Finally, Hyundai's Highway Driving Assist semi-autonomous drive mode and the larger touchscreen are now included as standard equipment for the plug-in hybrid.
Interior and Exterior
It is anticipated that the Santa Fe will continue to be the same 5-passenger SUV as it was in earlier model years. Other than standard color updates and features particular to certain option packages, not many changes are anticipated for the exterior.
The Santa Fe is the ideal SUV to comfortably carry the entire family on the upcoming road trip thanks to its spacious first and second rows. With the rear setbacks in place, the cargo area additionally provides more than 36 cubic feet of capacity.
Tumblr media
Performance
The 2023 Santa Fe offers two different engine options. The first choice is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with an 8-speed automated transmission and 191 horsepower. A 281-horsepower turbo 4-cylinder engine paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is the second option. Front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive are options for either power plant.
Technology
Both a conventional 8.25-inch touchscreen display system and a 10.25-inch display system will be available for the Santa Fe. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wirelessly compatible with the standard touchscreen.
Visit Houston to look at the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe.

JULY 2019 GOLD STAR MEDIA SCHEDULES & REVIEW
Members may earn 3 points each (up to 6 points) for writing, by the end of July 31 KST:
A solo para of 400+ words based on their monthly schedule (does not count toward your monthly total).
A thread of six posts (three per participant, including the starter) based on their monthly schedule.
Threads do not have to take place directly during an important date listed on the schedule, but must be related to what the muse is mentioned to be doing in the paragraph explaining their schedule/the company’s schedule for the month and/or their thoughts on the mentioned activities or lack thereof.
These schedules may be updated throughout the month if new information needs to be added.
Overall Company
Gold Star’s family concert is next month, so this month is full of serious rehearsals. There will be several days where all Gold Star artists spend the day at the building rehearsing separately and together in order to rehearse the family-like atmosphere in addition to the songs themselves..
Important dates
July 15, 18, 30, & 31: Gold Star Nation concert rehearsal days with all idols coming in and out to rehearse throughout the day.
Gold Star Soloist 1
She continues to have studio time for her next album as she has for a while, but the biggest change is the Gold Star Nation concert rehearsals, where Gold Star has tasked her with taking the lead on filming a small part of a behind the scenes video to be uploaded to Youtube following the concert. The concept of her being assigned the role is to show the senior-most Gold Star idol interacting with and taking care of her hoobaes during rehearsal.
Important dates:
N/A
Gold Star Soloist 2
The first concert dates of her South Korean tour have been set for September, so this month will be the beginning of serious rehearsals. Finally, progress is being made on her album too, with the mission to narrow down the set list by the end of this month as she’s brought in to record real versions of songs that have made the short list for the album. Gold Star has decided to go for a full album due to how long it’s been since her last album. She’ll also be appearing on a soloists-only special episode of Weekly Idol.
Important dates:
July 16: Weekly Idol Soloist Special filming (also appearing: Dimensions Soloist 1 and Gold Star Soloist 3, special appearance by BC Soloist 1, to air July 24)
Gold Star Soloist 3
He’s coming back with a single next month which means this month is comeback preparations before anything else. He has a break in his tour until after he’s done promoting his new single, so he’s Seoul-based for a little while again. This month, he’ll record the single and take promotional pictures, as well as appear on a special soloists-only episode of Weekly Idol.
Important dates:
July 16: Weekly Idol Soloist Special filming (also appearing: Gold Star Soloist 2 and Dimensions Soloist 1, special appearance by BC Soloist 1, to air July 24)
Silhouette
Now that they’re back in Seoul following their brief tour in Japan, the members are focused on finishing their Japanese comeback album Trouble which will release next month. Their title track has already been recorded so they could perform it, but they’ll finish recording the b-sides and film the music video that will accompany the comeback during July.
Important dates:
July 7: Trouble MV filming.
Aria
Aria starts off their month filming their beach-set music video for their comeback shortly before it releases and promotions for the special summer single begin the following week. Marketed as a special release for the fans, there’s not a lot of pressure for the song to perform or even an overly busy promotion schedule. In the absence of fan signs and radio or television appearances, they‘ll continue filming their Aria’s Parallel Universe series using the alternate lives they chose last month. The scenes will be mostly scripted with some improvisation opportunities and they’ll get individual scenes and scenes of their parallel lives crossing. (admin note: muns have creative license over the details of the scenes based on what career/lifepath the muse chose, but they should be realistic and similar to the scenes found here.)
Important dates:
July 1: Wag-Zak M/V filming.
July 7: Release of “Wag-Zak” & showcase, promotions continue until August 7.
July 27: Performance at 2019 Ulsan K-Pop Festival in Ulsan (also performing: Lucid).
Origin
Two weeks at the beginning of the month will be spent continuing their stadium tour before they return to Seoul. Upon their return without many public schedules, they’re in high demand again and will not only be filming CFs for two brands, but they’ll also be filming their Japanese MV and drama-like scenes for an upcoming mobile game, Origin World, slated for global release late this year along with similar music video scenes for an OST that will be released with the game. Their new Japanese singles come out at the end of the month to precede the Japanese leg of their tour early next month.
Important dates:
July 6: Speak Yourself Stadium Tour concert at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
July 7: Speak Yourself Stadium Tour concert at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
July 12: Speak Yourself Stadium Tour concert at Stade de France in Paris, France.
July 13: Speak Yourself Stadium Tour concert at Stade de France in Paris, France.
July 15: Lights MV filming.
July 17: Hyundai Palisade CF filming. (unit CFs align with line distribution)
July 19-29: Origin World and “Heartbeat” MV filming.
July 20: PLAY / UP CF filming.
July 31: Release of Japanese single album Lights/Boy With Luv.
Impulse
Now that album recording is finished, July is spent learning choreography, shooting the album jacket, and filming the music video. In addition to all of this and company concert rehearsals, the members also continue rehearsals for their own upcoming world tour. Impulse will be one of the groups spending the most time at the Gold Star building this month, with multiple over-nighters and endless meetings about the expectations they’re expected to reach to satisfy the company.
Important dates:
July 20: Eclipse MV filming.
Fuse
The final track list has been picked from the songs recorded last month, so, early in the month, the album jacket shooting will be done and the MV will be filmed in preparation for their comeback at the end of the month. The title track is experimental and risky, but Fuse has been assured that Gold Star is confident that they’re experienced enough to handle it and make it a hit in a way few other groups could.
Important dates:
July 4: Zimzalabim MV filming.
July 23: Idol Room filming (to air August 1).
July 24: Release of “Zimzalabim” & The Fuse Festival, Day One album showcase, promotions continue until August 24.
Element
Their appearance on Immortal Songs last month did bring Element some new attention, though not quite to the extent Gold Star had hoped. Still, they’re moving on to preparing for their Seoul concert next month on top of the company concert rehearsals. They’ll be performing many of their own songs, some classic covers, as well as two new unit cover stages. The main rapper/lead dancer and main vocal will be performing a cover of “Sriracha” and the main dancer/lead rapper and maknae/lead vocal/lead dancer will be performing a cover of “OMG”. (Admin note: In-’verse they didn’t already perform these at their Tokyo concert.) They’ll be doing a few scheduled VLives after and before rehearsals to hype up fans for the concerts and tease the set list without giving it away.
Important dates:
July 8: Group pre-rehearsal VLive.
July 23: Group post-rehearsal VLive.
July 29: Group pre-rehearsal VLive.
Femme Fatale
As the month goes by and Ddu-Du Ddu-Du sweeps music shows and remains strong on the charts, it becomes clear it’s Femme Fatale’s biggest hit yet and could even be a possible song of the year contender. On one hand, that confirms Femme Fatale’s place as one of the top girl groups and Gold Star’s most favored girl group, but on the other hand, it all but confirms Gold Star won’t give the group another comeback before the end of the year in order to ride out Ddu-Du Ddu-Du’s success and reap the monetary benefits. There’s a big focus on the radio circuit this month to push the song and push general public favor while also strengthening their fan base with fan signs, but they’ve also booked two big photo shoots, one for Vogue Korea and one in collaboration with Louis Vuitton. On top of everything else, they’ll be in the studio recording a remix of BEE’s “So Hot” that will be released after they perform it as a special stage at the Gold Star Nation concert next month.
Important dates:
July 1: Guesting on KBS Cool FM radio show.
July 2: Guesting on MBC FM4U radio show.
July 3: Photo shoot for Vogue Korea (August issue).
July 4: Guesting on SBS Power FM radio show.
July 5: Filming of Idol Room episode (to air July 16).
July 6: Fan sign in Goyang.
July 7: Fan sign in Seongnam.
July 8: Photo shoot and video filming for Elle Magazine x Louis Vuitton.
July 9: Guesting on SBS Power FM radio show.
July 10: Guesting on MBC FM4U radio show.
July 11: Guesting on KBS Cool FM radio show.
July 12: Guesting on SBS Power FM radio show.
July 13: Fan sign in Yeouido, Seoul.
July 14: Fan sign in Sinchon, Seoul.
July 19: Guesting on SBS Power FM radio show.
July 21: Fan sign in Yeouido, Seoul.
July 28: End of music show promotions.

New Santa Fe leads the way for Hyundai
The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe  from Group 1 Hyundai replaces the five-passenger Santa Fe Sport. The seven-passenger 2018 version of the Santa Fe is now renamed as the Santa Fe XL, and a new eight-passenger “full-size” model will be making an appearance soon as the Palisade. The name Hyundai stands for modernity in the Korean language, and according to the vehicle maker this “H-Factor” is the word that represents the all-new Santa Fe accurately.
Hyundai is on the offence, unleashing multiple new products all within a span of just a couple of years.
In fact, with so many new models arriving, it can be hard to keep track of them all. There are no less than six new or redesigned SUVs already introduced or coming out in the next few years.  Of these, the most significant entry is the all-new Hyundai 7-seater - the 2019 Santa Fe.
Design
Hyundai is the only global automaker to manufacture their own steel and use it in a framework they refer to as the “Superstructure.” This features structural adhesives placed strategically to protect critical areas for passengers, making it safer overall in the case of an accident. In addition, the 2019 Santa Fe now boasts such things as multi-link suspension setup, a stiffer body, and improved chassis all around. This results in a confident, sturdy ride that is fitting for this SUV.
The IIHS gives the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe a Top Safety Pick + rating, but only if you choose a trim other than the base level. This is due to the inclusion of Hyundai SmartSense safety technology that is standard on all but the base model. The SmartSense safety includes the forward Collision-Avoidance, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Attention Warning, to name the key items.
Two new safety features that are worth mentioning are the Rear Occupant Alert and the world’s first Safe Exit Assist. The Rear Occupant Alert will let the driver know if he or she leaves the vehicle and has left a child or pet in the back seat. The system will make a noise by sounding the horn and also send a message to the owner’s smartphone.
Safe Exit Assist will alert the driver by keeping the door locked if they attempt to open the door in an unsafe situation, such as the presence of an upcoming motorcycle, car, or bicycle approaching from the rear.
The interior feels roomy and airy due to a lower placed dashboard and larger windows, and quality materials add flair to the already functional display. The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on this model (Toyota, are you listening?). Other notable changes are roomier interior and a larger cargo capacity, which by the way, is accessed with a power lift gate (the cargo capacity is 2,019 litres with the seats folded flat and 1,016 litres with the seats up). All passengers can enjoy and travel in comfort with a generous amount of head, leg and shoulder room in this Hyundai.
Performance
There are two engine options available with the all-new Santa Fe. The standard, carried over 2.4-litre GDI engine produces 185 horsepower and 178 foot-pounds of torque. The better engine option is a 2.0-litre turbocharged GDI that produces 235 h.p. and 260 foot-pounds torque. Both options come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an optional HTRAC All-Wheel Drive upgrade.
The 2.0-litre turbo four is much quicker than the base 2.4-litre non-turbo, hitting 100 kilometres per hour a few seconds earlier. The turbo four is smooth, quiet and highly refined, and its ample power makes you think that you might be driving an SUV with a V-6 engine.
The handling is well balanced and predictable, and the brakes feel more than adequate. The Santa Fe strikes a good balance between firmer, sportier German competitors such as the Audi Q5 and the softer, family-car style Japanese models like the Toyota RAV4. When compared directly face-to-face, however, the Honda CR-V still delivers better road character and the all-new Toyota RAV4 may also prove to be a formidable competitor.
Fuel economy for the 2.4-litre engine and front-wheel drive is 10.7/8.2/9.6 litres/100 kilometres for city/highway/combined, and 11.2/8.7/10.1 l/100 km if you choose all-wheel drive. For the upgraded 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, fuel economy is estimated to be 12.3/9.8/11.2 l/100 km.
Summary
In Canada, the 2019 Santa Fe comes in four trim levels: Essential, Preferred, Luxury, and Ultimate. I would recommend the Preferred trim and up, purely because none of the safety features beyond airbags and anti-lock brakes are included with the base level Essential trim.
Hyundai offers one of the best-backed five-year warranties on offer in Canada, which is another perk that may sweeten the deal for potential buyers.

5 Things We’d Want From a Kia Pickup Truck
A pickup truck could one day join Kia’s lineup, we learned recently. That info came from Michael Cole, chief operating officer and executive vice president at Kia Motors America, who added that it’s not a priority right now. Even so, it got us thinking about what we’d want in a Kia-branded pickup.
Read on for five things we’d love to see on a potential Kia truck model.
Off-Road Vibes
We know a production version of the Hyundai Santa Cruz concept is well underway, and that the lifestyle pickup will likely be more on-road oriented. So to differentiate itself, Kia’s potential pickup could be more capable when the pavement ends. A higher ride height and an off-road-tuned suspension (at least as an option) on a Kia truck would help set it apart from its Hyundai sibling. Does it have to be a hardcore off-roader like the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro or Chevrolet Colorado ZR2? No, but it would be nice if it could at least handle the rutted dirt road leading up to the trailhead.
Rugged Styling
Kia’s latest crossover, the Telluride, hints at what the brand’s future utility vehicles could look like. If the Telluride’s more rugged look compared to its Hyundai Palisade twin is any indication, a prospective Kia pickup could follow the same path, which should give it a tough persona. Expect a boxy truck with an upright greenhouse to give it a more conventional truck look versus the upcoming Hyundai Santa Cruz, which is expected to be swoopier and feature the automaker’s SUV design language.
Compact or Midsize Dimensions
The Hyundai Santa Cruz compact pickup concept
Midsize truck sales are on the rise again and major automakers have flocked back to the segment to grab a piece of the action. Should Kia decide to base its pickup on the same bones as the Telluride, expect it to have a similar footprint to key models in the segment like the Honda Ridgeline, Chevrolet Colorado, and Toyota Tacoma. However, because it’s most likely going to be unibody, a Kia pickup truck may only have a single bed and cab combination, which could limit its appeal.
In the event that Kia goes the compact route and takes the underpinnings of the upcoming Hyundai Santa Cruz as the basis for its pickup, we could possibly get a smaller, more city-friendly pickup. Like the Subaru Bajas of yore, a compact Kia pickup could be a crew cab with a small bed, perfect for urbanites with active lifestyles.
A Reasonable Amount of Grunt
The upcoming Hyundai Santa Cruz could get the new naturally aspirated 191-hp 2.5-liter I-4 and eight-speed automatic transmission from the recently revealed 2020 Sonata. That engine should be powerful enough for a compact pickup, but if you want to light its wheels on fire, you need more power. Fortunately, the Hyundai-Kia parts bin has a number of turbocharged engines in it, including a 2.0-liter unit with at least 235 hp. That engine could turn a potential Santa-Cruz-based Kia pickup into a zippy little truck.
In the event that Kia does a midsize truck instead, the Telluride’s 3.8-liter V-6 should be adequate for hauling and towing your toys. The 2.0-liter turbo-four could also work in its higher-output guise, but that could limit its payload and overall towing capacity depending on calibration.
Actual Utility
The 2019 Honda Ridgeline’s bed
Being a truck, Kia’s future pickup needs to offer actual utility. Whether that’s from a smartly designed compact bed that’s big enough to haul your bikes and surf boards or a midsize truck bed that you can use to do actual work naturally depends on the size of the truck, but having a bed for the sake of having a bed isn’t going to cut it. Look to the Honda Ridgeline as an example. Despite being a unibody truck, the Ridgeline placed second in our recent midsize pickup comparison, beating out the Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma. Sure, it rides and drives like a crossover, but it’s also surprisingly capable and has a usable bed with smart features like an in-bed trunk and trick Dual-Action tailgate.

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Review: Fourth Time’s the Charm
2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Review: Fourth Time’s the Charm
Tumblr media
Hyundai is gradually moving through its SUV lineup, refreshing and updating as it goes and inserting new models like the big Palisade, the small Kona and the even smaller upcoming Venue (in 2020). This year the Santa Fe gets a substantial overhaul for its fourth generation, and beyond a doubt the 2019 edition has the earmarks of a model arriving at maturity. There’s a lot, in other words, that…
