Vater Orlaag headcanons and backstory that no one asked for, but you're all getting because I've lost control of my life. This is just my personal headcanons for the man because I needed to come up with *something* for my WIP The Wicker Man and most of it works in general:

SFW Non-WIP Related Headcanons: -Born in the mid-1960s (I'm going with he's a Scorpio Sun, Virgo Ascendant, Aries Moon,) is roughly late 40s or early 50s during Army of the Doomstar -Grew up as a Russka Roma in Soviet Union era Russia -His grandmother was teaching him how to read cards and other aspects of magick from when he was old enough to form memories -Grandmother was a little too flippant about and proud of her craft and unwilling to hide it from the Soviets, despite the rest of his family trying to keep it a secret -Led to the Soviets killing his family in the night when he was 11 years old -That night was his first experience with chaos magick, making himself unseen/unnoticed in a hiding spot where they realistically could have found him -He took his grandmother's grimoire, her fortune telling cards, and what valuables he could carry and he ran -Still uses the grimoire and the fortune telling cards, though they are very worn now, added his own notes to the grimoire and eventually filled it -There was one ring of his grandmother's that he kept, and he started wearing it on a chain as a necklace when it didn't fit his hands anymore as he got older -Sought to become as powerful as he possibly could, both in magick and in the mundane, both to honor his grandmother and to spite the men who killed his family. He never wanted to feel powerless again -Salacia saw this weakness in him and exploited it and manipulated him, promising him power beyond his wildest dreams -By the end Salacia was like a dark cloud in his mind, influencing him by bringing out the absolute worst in him and bringing out his rage SFW WIP Related Headcanons: -The first movie that he saw in theaters when he escaped the Iron Curtain was Labyrinth. He liked the movie and it always sort of stuck with him NSFW(ish? Kind of? Putting it there to be safe?) Headcanons below the cut:

-When he's with someone he's really into and the sex is really good, he'll slip into a heavy accent or start speaking Romani without even realizing it -13 inches and he knows how to use it -Passionate, the type who if he is able to lift his lover, he will and they will be pinned to a wall while he kisses them like they've never been kissed, and then eventually fucked against said wall -Growls during sex -Knife Play 🖤 -Astral travel sex -Is usually down for multiple rounds if he has the time -Tends to stick to prostitutes so as not to form attachments because he's so busy with the Tribunal and attachments make life more complicated than he needs it to be -As Dominant as he is, he stills loves a little bit of hair pulling because of how good it can make his scalp feel with his long hair -A hand on his lover's throat just to show them who's boss -Will make his lover look into his eyes with a gentle hand directing their chin -Loves to bite his lover to mark them

A little late on Storyteller Saturday but in my time zone I'm eking it in under the wire.

Since the answer would be obvious for Sunday, I thought I’d talk about Ava!

Ava was 8 years old when she first believed in a higher power. Until that day, magic was fairy tales and cheap tricks on TV. Something for other kids to believe in, not her. She prayed for deliverance in the church near her house, and no god answered. Then the Vater made the bad man living in her house disappear. Not just for a day or two, the way that man did when the social workers came, but forever. The bad man was out of her house, and his drugs were too. Her mom didn’t see it that way. The first day of their new life, she waited for the bad man to return. He’d done this before, she explained. He’d come back. The second day, Mom cleaned the house while she waited. First slowly, then frantically, pulling up couch cushions and checking under floorboards. She looked under the sinks, inside all the cabinets, and finally, came into Ava’s room. “Where is it?” Mom asked, sweating, hands starting to shake. “Where’s his stuff? He can’t have taken all of it. Where did you hide it, Ava?” She doesn’t quite remember what happened next, only the sour burn of panic in her throat as her mom came towards her, and the eerily wide smile on the Vater’s face when he came to her rescue. Then she was Elsewhere, and she had so much to learn that she forgot to think on the past. Magic was real, because his god heard her prayers and sent him to deliver her from evil. To give her a new life, away from everything that held her back. In her new life, she became the Vater’s most devout pupil. She learned to serve a Master greater than her comprehension. She learned how to blend in; then, how to stand out. She developed her talents and her faith hand-in-hand, and lived to reap the rewards. Trust, then profit, then independence. She watched over a cursed Seer, biting her cheek at the irony of their situation. Ava knew more about the Prophecy, more about what would happen than her friend could ever stumble on. The Seer did not even know her place in the Master’s grand design! But Ava did, and she reveled in it. She may not be named in the prophecies, but she was her Vater’s most privileged acolyte. He trusted her to dance around the players of this grand tale and ensure they filled their roles. He trusted her with freedom. Most of all, he trusted her with knowledge. The day before Ava went into deep cover, she asked him what happened to her mother. The Vater chuckled, smiled that too-wide smile, and said, “Oh, her? She gave you up for half an ounce of black tar and the address where I found it. Some individuals don’t know the value of what they have.” That smile sticks most of all in Ava’s rare moments of doubt. There’s something wrong with that smile. The acolytes that fell short of their goals would go into a meeting with the Vater, kicking and screaming, and come out with that smile etched on their faces. It scares her more than the bad man in her home ever did, that grin, but she’s in far too deep to turn. She doubts Dethklok’s manager would give her a moment of his time if she tried. It’s just hard to swallow her doubts when their music sounds so right, and the Vater’s smile looks so wrong.

hi!! not weird at all! i am still drumming, and i assure you i'll never stop. it's not just a hobby, it's my pride and joy, my lifestyle. i moved to the city and am currently pursuing a music degree.

the drumming related thing: just do it. so many people always say "ooo that's so cool that you play drums i wish i played drums" DOOOO IIIIT. i know starting is scary, and can be expensive, but here are five relatively cheap things to help you get started.

● Tommy Igoe's "Great Hands For A Lifetime" curriculum. This curriculum starts from the very beginning. a book to help you begin reading music, even if you don't stick with drums, this book is the bible for every musician. Progressive Steps To Syncopation For The Modern Drummer by Ted Reed. it begins with simple rhythms and they get a bit more complex as the book progresses. nothing outside of 4/4.

here's the International Drum Rudiments as outlined by the Percussive Arts Society. the asterisks indicate the original 26 traditional rudiments. this website not only has a pdf, but also downloadable audio files of every rudiment so you can hear them and read them. it's all free!

all together, this stuff costs about $80. it's not super cheap but it's cheaper than a whole kit and private lessons. it is possible to at least start playing drums without spending over $100. DON'T WAIT!!! NOW IS THE TIME!!!!! you get out of it what you put into it. if you put your heart into it, you'll get everything you could want out of it.
