An underrated moment from the novel is Pete speaking in his dialect to annoy Vegas who doesn't understand but instead of just cussing Vegas out he rants about Vegas being so handsome while Vegas is pissed that he doesn't have a clue on what is being said

Some people haven't read the novel and don't want to because they're uncomfortable, but they're curious about these scenes so here is the moment in question.

"Hey! What did you just say?!"

"I said I'm handsome." Vegas turned to glance at me. My face was more annoyed than before.

"Yeah, you're handsome. You're really handsome, charming, and dashing. You're so handsome I could cry. So handsome. What did your parents feed you to become so handsome that it's creepy? How did you become this handsome, huh?" I said in the Southern language.

Vegas shook his head and looked at me tiredly before pulling my head to kiss me by the forehead. Then he grabbed his car keys and walked out of the room.

"I will consume you." Vegas will drain every groan, every tear, and sweat. Every reaction and wish Pete had. Vegas will consume Pete until he no longer is that pretense of pureness and bravery.

Vegaspete and tawan

I just realized Vegas was grabbing Pete's ass in the temple while being engaged. Now, I know the engagement wasn't serious, but still, what a whore! I won't even talk about kissing Porsche because that would be acceptable for tawan in the grand evil scheme they had against kinn, I think?

So it got me thinking, if Pete was held captive while tawan was still around and Tawan went to the safe house to see Vegas --(unlikely I know, because who would trust that info to that dumb ass?) -- and Tawan, being the little shit he was, provoked Pete and mistreated him because of course he would, Pete is just a toy for Vegas to torture so why can't Tawan have a go at it?

But Vegas would be frustrated because his plans were not working and he was fed up with Tawan, and because him and Pete have been peeling each other's masks now, Pete sees that Vegas does not care about Tawan at all, so he analysis how Vegas manipulates him

“It is stupid.” Vegas continued. “But when you like someone, you get a little stupid. Unless you’re Pete. He was always stupid.”

“Did I miss something?” Venice asked. “Did you two argue?”

Vegas was already standing up too when Pete shot the man on the foot.

“Slower.” Vegas smiled, slowly pushing his heel down on the man’s right foot to add agony to the bullet wound. “You won’t enjoy it if you rush it.”

"Whatever you want to do, I'll do it with you. But we can't be impulsive."

"Will you marry me then?"

Underrated moment of Vegaspete on the novel #2

Vegas wanting to play the guitar for Pete and sing for him while holding Pete captive, because he's so smitten and is trying is best to flirt with Pete. Meanwhile Pete is done with the whole thing.

Vegas walked up to pick up a guitar in his office and sat on the sofa. He placed his long legs across the table, then shifted into a comfortable sitting position to tune the guitar strings.

Don't tell me he was going to play the guitar for me. I sighed heavily and rolled my eyes at him.

"I don't want to listen to music." I said softly.

"Come on... I'll sing for you."

"Who told you to do that?" I immediately frowned.

This bastard Vegas will sing. Well, it's not like I've never seen him do that before. (...) But this is hilarious. What's up with him?!

(...)

"Uh... So do you like playing guitar?"

"Yeah."

"Why do you like playing guitar? Why not drums or bass?"

(...) "Well, a senior of mine from school said I could play guitar to flirt with girls. But I don't like women, so I use it to flirt with guys I like instead."

"Oh... and flirting?"

(...) "I'm not sure anymore though. I recently flirted with you but you threw a pillow at me, so I don't know if you're just shy or you hate me." Said Vegas with a smile.

The exact memory flashed in my head, but I prayed that he wasn't meaning what I thought.

"I hate you, I guess..."

Pete struggled to answer. Venice was so used to having things go his way. Did Pete know all the faces his son wore? No, he didn't. And sometimes he expected the worst. That was all.

This was all Venice’s nightmares came to life. Being helpless, alone, yelling for help with no one to rescue him.

Vegas rubbed his back. “What was the bad dream about?”
