Nooooo nobody gets it this isn’t about Cassian becoming a rebel hero (that’s rogue one) this is about Cassian losing his agency until he’s nothing more than a weapon for the rebellion to use at will (how he starts Rogue One)
#it’s not his choice it’s not something he’s dedicated to as a person because he IS a person still of some sort#or he’s trying to become a person again#and the whole point is war is dehumanizing war WILL kill you one way or another if you let it#Luthen sacrifices all his human decency and becomes something frighteningly close to a monster#vel. Bix. Cassian. even syril. they are being turned in to tools to sacrifice#they are being shaped into sacrifices#no one around. no other way. choices continually taken from them#that’s the POINT#you don’t get to choose!! you only get to choose to fight!!!#and that’s WHY Jyn is so important. she rolls up to a terribly Luthen-esque operation and is like guys we have a CHOICE#and I’m about to make some!!#and Cassian goes wait fr???#it’s nuanced tho! because he *cant* just run away. that can’t be his choice#but it’s the only thing he can choose in situations where the fighting means following#so he thinks. and yet. he’s got to have the complete selflessness and he’s got to choose it#by rogue one he’s a DROID. he’s got K2 and tbh K2 is now voicing all the things Andor Cassian would say#but now he’s. more machine than the machine.#he’s a weapon. the droid on the other hand. has become human#it’s HIM#anyways!! it’s about being turned into a weapon#and the balance between fighting what you hate and saving what you love#he wants to save Bix but Bix understandably on some level wants to fight what she hates#she wants to win. so she gives him up to that goal.#so he’s a weapon to fight what he hates too#but in the end. like the end of S1. he’ll be saving what he loves again#it’s about what would you sacrifice? and should you sacrifice that.#andor spoilers
