Former member of the Malta Police Department, previously decorated for solving the Wenjun double homocide.

Tasked with the Humbert Labs investigation, Lt. Maldera began to display signs of obsessive compulsion upon closure of the case. He physically assaulted the suspect - Humbert Labs employee, Alexander Nox, was reassigned, and with no other suspects, the case was deemed an accident. Maldera refused his reassignment. Following an intoxicated altercation with his commanding officer, the Malta Police Commissioner ordered Lt. Maldera dishonorably discharged for conduct unbecoming an officer.

Victor has some competitive spirit in him. Although he tries to leave it for the boxing ring, sometimes, he can’t help but joke around with his coworkers. Naturally, when you two started working together, you butted heads.

Little bets and dares happen all the time. Victor doesn’t shy behind a good challenge. And these little bets and dares ended up leading to confessions, first dates, and first kisses.

The other officers find it almost hilarious that you got the guy to loosen up a bit. Victor can sometimes be uptight. They also got some cash from Victor. Apparently there was a bet going around that the man would never get hitched.

On the field, Victor is ruthless, and a good team player. He’s always looking out for his fellow officers, and civilians. Once you two start dating, he makes sure to watch over you with extra care. It’s one thing to date as a police officer, it’s another to be dating another police officer.

The line of work is tough, and Victor really appreciates that you’re around. He gets to talk about his frustrations of the job with you, knowing you won’t repeat it to anyone else. And on the other hand, you can get him to calm down, and think about non-work things, when he gets heated about it.

After the fire at Humbert Labs, you’re shocked to find Victor truly upset. And although the case was closed, his passion to look for the perpetrator remained strong. After his discharge with the Malta Police Department, he tries to stay away from you, not wishing to tarnish your good reputation.

You wanted none of that, and had to straight up tell him, to his face, that you wanted things to stay as they were. Nowadays, you’re able to sneak bits and pieces of info on cases for Vic. And maybe your dates are a little more secretive. But hey, that’s life in Malta.

06: BESIDE TABLE DRAWER

Crypto’s a minimalist. It’s almost impossible to not be when you might have to leave everything behind at a moment’s notice.

So when you open his bedside table drawer, hoping for a quick snoop when he’s not looking, you’re met with... very little. A handful of hard melon-flavored candies; a pair of spare headphones; a small packet of tissues; a half-empty bottle of extra-strength aspirin; an extra long charging cable for a phone.

It figures, though, that the Games’ most secretive legend wouldn’t keep anything of note in plain sight. Which is why there’s something else that you don’t realize in the drawer: a false bottom.

Even he opens it rarely. When he does, there are only a few things inside:

A family photograph—him, Mila, and Mystik.

A thumb drive—backups of all his research so far, kept safe in case something were to happen to his primary backups.

A pair of old glasses—it’s not like he needs them anymore, given the optical surgeries he went through for his neurolink, but he keeps them anyway. Maybe to remind himself that Tae Joon isn’t dead yet.

14. COMPUTER HOME SCREEN

Crypto’s computer is just as minimalist as his home, and the desktop homescreen is entirely empty aside from the recycle bin. When you bump his desk and the computer whirrs to life, you just see the dark desktop background with his logo in bright green at the center.
