RE8 Lord DLC concept
GONNA EXPAND ON THIS BECAUSE I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!
So basically this is just an idea of how i'd make a DLC about the RE8 lords cuz lets be honest THEY DESERVED ONE. So in my concept, instead of playing as the lords you'd play as one of the people in their lives (whether significant or insignificant) and experience the lords in a different perspective. Some are actual characters in the RE8 lore based off of the files, and some are just ocs i made

What was her prayer? Her wish, her confession? There is no one left to answer, and Marika never returned home again.
A piece to match my Ranni piece from way before the DLC came out. @porcelain-dollbones pointed out the parallel potential between the two moments, so big thanks to her<3

Let me switch it up and talk about some lore from the DLC that I really liked
Learning about Marika is the main thing that truly moved me so much. The items and atmosphere (that music!!!) in Shaman Village genuinely brought me to tears. I just wasn't expecting to get such a human perspective of Marika and her actions. Her past doesn't justify her actions during her reign at all of course, but I understand her motivations now and they're just... so human and illogical.
It really resonated with me. I know what it's like to feel loss, to feel like you don't have a home, or that you do have a home, but it will never be the same and you can never return to it. To have this idealised version of it in your mind and have this illogical need to preserve it. I know what it's like to feel guilt and try to right things even though it never can truly be fixed. It re-contextualises so much, and I loved that.
I always said I thought it was wild for her to take the Rune of Death from the Elden Ring, like how could she have ever thought that would work out? It was doomed to fail from the start. But I get it now. She wasn't doing that from any kind of logical thinking - it's all emotion, it's all trauma and grief and wanting to do whatever she could to avoid that loss ever again. Grieving a heavy loss and newly in a position of godhood... of course she made decisions that wouldn't make sense to most. Of course she removed Death as soon as she had the chance, or opportunity.
For me it completely negates any theory that Marika was working with Ranni on the dire plot - this makes The Shattering out to be something that was born completely from grief. She did everything she could, everything within her power to avoid experiencing this kind of loss ever again, and still lost her golden child in one of the most horrific ways possible. Marika started her reign on the premise of emotion and revenge, and essentially ended it for the same reasons. It's great storytelling, comes full-circle and answers a lot of questions I had from the base game! 10/10

My RE8 Lord DLC concept!
Firstly I wanna say sorry for taking so long for the people who saw my original post 😭 Ive been mostly procrastinating (so much so that my artstyle changed like 4 times LMFAO).
Here is the original post I made about this concept

So in my concept, instead of playing as the lords, you'd play as one of the people in their lives (whether significant or insignificant) and experience the lords in a different perspective. I just. Can't get over Queen Marika as a character. Like just. Learning who those flesh amalgams in the Gaols actually are, seeing Shaman Village with how it is, and learning about how The Two Fingers have been abandoned by The Greater Will even before Marika's time...
But like. The most important thing to me is Shaman Village. The way it's sealed off behind a statue of Marika, and just. How sorrowful it is. It's still, it's peaceful, it's serene, but it's also empty. Within the field of flowers, you find a small sprout of a tree, surrounded by golden light. You receive the incantation that allows you to momentarily conjure up a minor erdtree, that heals all that it's light shines down upon.
What's truly important is what it means. "The kindness of Gold, without Order...
She basked her old village with this golden light, knowing full well there was nobody left to heal"...
It really hits me. Hard. That through all of Marika's corruption, her cruelty, her subjugations, her purges, her murders...
That she really did have the capacity to be a good person. She and her people were subjugated by Hornsent society, but that doesn't change what she did... a lot of people treat it as "justified", but that's a weak way to look at it, and misunderstands how Marika became THE ultimate subjugator with her Golden Order. She subjugated hornsent on an individual level, she also killed and cursed the giants, she had all these conflicts with all these other folks in the Lands Between, all to create some ideal order...
Now this is the part where is spirals out and it makes my head hurt to think about it all...
But man...
The point I am trying to make is how that gentle silence, and still beauty of Shaman Village, and how whoever Marika was in the past is just... completely lost...
"What was her prayer, her wish, her confession?
There is no one left to answer.
and Marika never returned home again."
All that remains is that still silence, those blooming flowers, rustling in the wind, and those gentle strums, to always remind us of what this place means, and what it represents...
