Naatpu - 2
Ponniyin Selvan X Bahubali Crossover.
The sun had set a while ago. Vandiyathevan was left in his chambers to rest before dinner. He'd tried hard to find the man who'd made Devasena herself fumble, but to no avail. What was his name again....ah Shivudu! He'd been hit by a bull, oh no to be precise he'd been stood infront of a bull to fight. Yuvarani had assumed that the man was walking around masquerading. And well, then he got hit and was now resting in his chambers. It was absolutely necessary to let Aditha know about his dear friend's new *ahem* interest, thus he had sent him a pigeon post hours ago. Devasena had left to prepare for a Krishna Pooja, leaving behind a daasi to serve to Vandiyathevan's needs. Oh and was he served.
"Yuvarani is not the kind to fall in love and bleh bleh, but something has happened to her in the past week."
"Oh I heard that too."
"She refused a proposal from a massive empire and-"
"Let me guess. And people assume it's because of Shivudu....?"
"Exactly!" The daasi exclaimed immediately shushing herself being aware of her surroundings.
Vandiyathevan smiled at her. Wasn't this all he needed after weeks of spying around? A friend to spill some tea with. Vindhya had been Devasena's Sakhi since they were children.
"And what does the yuvarani have to say about that?"
"Of course she denied it." Vindhya said huffing and stretching her hands towards her knees. "But of course the blush across her face betrayed her."
Vandiyathevan remembered how Devasena had teased him about Kundavai that very evening.
"But I agree with the yuvarani, Shivudu definitely looks like he's playing around. Especially his uncle. His antics give everything away."
She was interrupted by the blow of a conch. Vandiyathevan immediately drew his sword close. "No no, that's alright. It's just the Krishna Pooja. It must be starting now." The sound of the conch was immediately replaced by the sound of a flute and then a melodious voice. He moved towards the balcony to hear the melody better. He suddenly turned back. "That's....the yuvarani singing?" He asked, receiving a small nod from a grinning Vindhya.
Vandiyathevan looked back to grab a glimpse at Devasena but instead caught someone else trying to catch a glimpse. Shivudu and his mama were out resting against the pillars grinning at each other from time to time. Oho so the attraction was mutual. Of course it was, how can one not fall for the yuvarani. The man looked familiar. His uncle not so much. He informed Vindhya and scurried downstairs towards the men. Shivudu wouldn't stay put for a second. He'd sprint all around the palace, wherever the melody flowed. The Pooja finally came to an end and so did the song. Shivudu had now dozed on a branch under the moonlight. Vandiyathevan waited for the surroundings to clear up. After a while, he slowly tiptoed to the branch, whispering "Shivudu....heyy Shivudu.....".
Amarendra opened his eyes to see Vandiyathevan up close, and almost drew out his dagger. But soon remembered the act he had put on. He pretended to roll off the branch before Vandiyathevan caught him. "Heyyy!!! Arasan. Arasan. Don't be afraid." Vandiyathevan whispered looking around to make sure he hadn't alerted anybody else. He rested on the branch signalling at Shivudu to relax as well. "I heard you hurt your hand today morning, how are you now?"
" I- I'm well s-sire" Shivudu replied. Vandiyathevan sighed. This was so obviously a play. The man fumbled his words, but didn't have an ounce of fear in his eyes. He shook his head down repeatedly, but his shoulders remained stiff and sturdy. Even when he was woken up suddenly, there was no fear rather he was in a posture of defence. And to top it all, Shivudu hadn't shown any signs of an injury until he brought the topic up. Even now he was only slightly cradling his "injured" arm.
"Good" Vandiyathevan muttered after several moments, "Why don't you go to your chambers and rest. First of all you've injured one of your arms. Now if you'd fallen off the branch and hurt the other? No no that shall not happen. Come let me help you to your chambers." He now looked at Shivudu to see him gazing up. He looked up to see Devasena finishing the final Aarti to the moon. "It was a beautiful lullaby wasn't it?" Vandiyathevan asked suppressing a giggle. "Absolutely" Shivudu answered still under Devasena's spell, which was broken by a giggle soon after.
Shivudu tried to return back to his character, but was so speechless by his view that he just stood there trying to speak while still staring at the yuvarani. Vandiyathevan had had the time off his life seeing all this. "That's no problem, I absolutely understand how much you loveeedd the lullaby, so let's get you to your chambers now shall we?"

Day Six: Maa Katyayani
Once there lived a sage called Katyayana who prayed to the goddess to be born as his child in order to kill Mahishasura. She agreed and was born as his daughter and thus was called Katyayani. When the gods invoked Mahashakti – the primordial feminine power to protect them from the demon, Mahisha, she emerged from the sacrificial fire of the sage Katyayan. All the male gods bestowed their special powers and weapons on her. She is the avatara of Parvati in the form of the warrior goddess and is one of the most well-known and beloved of her forms.
Riding a lion, she proceeded towards the Vindhya mountains where the demon lived and killed him. Hence, she is also known as Mahishasuramardini.

Kundavai: The Thirukoilur Malayaman clan hates beauty, they think it is the enemy of valour.
Malayaman:  And, your father was also Arinjayan's only son. He was handsome as Manmatha when he was your age. Neither in the Chozha family nor in any other princely family in Tamil Nadu was there anybody as handsome . . . Kings and petty chieftains from Lanka to the Vindhyas performed penance in order to be worthy enough to offer their daughters to him in marriage. Neither the men or the women in my clan are known for their looks. The more battle scars our men had, the more handsome they were considered. And for our women, chastity and character were the ornaments, signs of beauty.
Malayaman brought up Vanamadevi by telling her that she was ugly, in a period when women were valued a lot for their beauty. It isn't like he inculcated confidence and independence in her by saying that such superficial things don't matter. He doubled down that women of his clan compensated for their lack of beauty by strictly following other regressive practises.
Vanamadevi too thought that beauty s an essential part of a woman's life. When Sundara Cholan expressed displeasure for dragging Mandakini to the palace, she asked her daughter to groom and beautify Mandakini.
The Emperor's disgust was evident in the way he referred to Mandakini as 'this'. Disappointed, Kundavai looked at her father . . .  Malayaman's daughter came up to Kundavai and whispered, "My child! Isn't she unbearable to look at. What is the point in being angry with your father? Come, let's see how skillful you are in the art of making her beautiful."
Unfortunately, it worked very well.
He (Sundara Cholan) was full of appreciation for Kundavai's skill at makeup. "You have transformed a wild looking being into Indirani of Devalokam. But did you have to choose an old woman like this? Can't you demonstrate your skill on young girls like Vanathi?" he teased.
Vanamadevi must have spent her whole life feeling ugly and unworthy of Sundara Cholan. Her father was a regressive pos even for 10th century and her husband (who talks about his lover in his sleep) was the most handsome man in the three worlds. She must have consoled herself that whatever affection she got was a big deal because Sundaran deserved and prefered prettier women.
Probably Malayaman threw a party when she burnt herself on her husband's funeral pyre and boasted that his daughter was more pious and chaste than older widows from inferior clans, like  Kalyani Devi (Arinjayan's wife) and Sembiyan Madevi.

 Heaven of Chhattisgarh
Mainpat, a small village in Chhattisgarh, is blessed by nature with immense beauty, lush green fields, beautiful waterfalls, and natural wonders. Mainpat is on the Vindhya range in Surguja district, whose height is about three and a half thousand feet above sea level. There are many tourist places here that attract tourists, as well as Shimla of Chhattisgarh because of the low temperature and snowfall in winter. There are many places to visit in Mainpat as mentioned below.
Tiger Point Mainpat
Tiger Point is the center of the main attraction of Mainpat, where monkeys jump and Kal Kal Karta waterfall creates a beautiful view. According to the local people, many years ago tigers of the jungle were seen in this area, due to which it got the name Tiger Point. The Mahadev Muda River forms the waterfall at Tiger Point, which falls from a height of about 60 meters.
Jaljali Point Mainpat
This is such a center of attraction of Mainpat where everyone is forced to jump like a kid because here the ground shakes without an earthquake, yes you read it right here if you jump on the ground then the ground shakes. If you come to Mainpat, do not forget to see the mysticism of this nature.
Ultapani
Mainpat's Ultapani has come into existence recently and the tourists get quite surprised after coming here because here the flow of water is towards the height, as well as the neutral vehicle parked on the road here goes towards the hill. Due to the flow of water here in the opposite direction, this place has been named Ultapani.
Jalpari Point
After visiting here, you will be fascinated by seeing this waterfall, it is the most beautiful waterfall in Mainpat, and there is a legend among the local people that the first Jalpari used to appear here, which is why it was named Jalpari. It is situated about 17 km from the village between the hills, there is a waterfall on the fish river which falls from a height of about 4 meters creating a beautiful view.
If you come to see this beautiful waterfall of Mainpat, then come with a tourist guide because this waterfall is in the midst of dense forests and you will have to walk on foot to reach Jalpari Point. Jalpari Fish Point is a better place for picnics, due to which tourists come on many occasions and enjoy the panoramic view.
The journey of Mainpat is full of adventure. If you are planning to visit Mainpat, then you can come in any month of the year, but you should keep in mind that the beauty of Mainpat is at its peak, in rainy and cold weather. If you want to enjoy the plains of Mainpat, then you must go during the rainy or winter season.

Smoky Skies in Northern India In November, satellites often observe large clouds of smoke and heightened fire activity in northwestern India as farmers burn excess paddy straw after the rice harvest—a practice called stubble burning. November 2022 followed this pattern. When the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the Suomi NPP satellite captured this natural-color image on November 1, 2022, a plume of smoke curled from northeastern Pakistan to the Indian states of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Use the slider tool to see the locations of active fires observed by VIIRS that afternoon. Many farmers, particularly in the states of Punjab and Haryana, use fire as a fast, cheap way to clean up and fertilize fields before planting winter crops. However, a surge of smoke in the heart of the densely populated Indo-Gangetic Plain often contributes to a sharp deterioration of air quality across the region, including in the capital city of Delhi. The air quality index rose as high as 424 on November 1, 2022, according to India’s Central Pollution Control Board, enough to put it into the “severe” category. The high pollution levels prompted a halt in construction in Delhi and calls for people to work from home. Smoke from crop fires is not the only contributor to the hazy skies in the region. Influxes of dust sometimes arrive from the Thar Desert to the west, as happened on October 31. An array of other human-caused sources of air pollution come from cities, including motor vehicle fumes, industrial and construction activity, fireworks, and fires for heating and cooking. Measurements of particulate matter, including the small particles known as PM2.5, can be used as a proxy for air quality. According to one analysis of Delhi’s air pollution, stubble burning contributed 14 percent of PM2.5 in Delhi on November 1. Prior to the start of widespread crop fires, the percentage ranged from 1 to 3 percent. Geography and weather also exacerbate the region’s air quality problems. Temperature inversions are common in November and December as air rolls off the Tibetan Plateau and mixes with smoky air from the Indo-Gangetic plain. An inversion can function like a lid, with the warm air trapping pollutants near the surface and helping hem pollutants in between the Himalayan Mountains to the north and the Vindhya Mountains to the south. The crop-burning season is just beginning and typically continues for two to three weeks. Hiren Jethva, a senior research scientist with University of Maryland, Baltimore County and Morgan State University, uses satellite observations to monitor the fires each year. Based on measurements of the “greenness,” or Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), of the rice crop during the summer, he expects NASA’s Aqua satellite will observe about 15,000 fires by late-November, which would make this the 5th most active season since 2002 (following 2021, 2020, 2016, and 2012). As of November 2, Aqua had detected about 2,000 fires. NASA Earth Observatory image by Joshua Stevens, using VIIRS data from NASA EOSDIS/LANCE, GIBS/Worldview and the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership. Story by Adam Voiland.

What are the three types of temples in India?
Tumblr media
Shilpa Shastras and Vastu Sastras both provide descriptions of the architectural principles used in Indian temples. In order to depict the Hindu way of life, the architects of the temples have occasionally used other ideal geometries and mathematical concepts, which shows how much artistic freedom the culture has permitted its temple builders to employ. In India, temples fall into three different architectural types. These are Dravidian (Southern), Nagara (Northern) and Vesara (mixed).
The Nagara style was regionally created in Northern India and is connected with the region between the Himalayas and the Vindhya Mountains. The construction is made up of two buildings in this design: the main shrine, which is taller, and a nearby, shorter mandapa.
The shikhara's form is the main distinction between these two structures. A bell-shaped building is erected to the main temple Between the 9th and 12th centuries AD, during the Chola Empire, the Dravida style gained popularity in the South. It is particularly evident in the area between the Krishna and Kaveri rivers. The key feature of the architecture of Dravida temples is that these temples have more than 4 sides in the sanctum. A temple built in the Dravida style always has an ambulatory hall. This architectural style makes extensive use of pillars and pilasters. The early mediaeval period saw the emergence of the Vesara style in the area between the Krishna River and Vindhyas. The Vesara style, with local variations, has been employed in numerous temples in Central India and Deccan. It is a blend of the Dravida and Nagara styles of temple construction.

Farmer policy.
22 August 1987, India Today
“Friends, Indians, Countrymen, lend me your ears! As you may have realised, president Zail Singh has recently approved the loan of 300 million rupees to farmers in the state of Punjab and a further 5 million rupees as exchange for stocks of food. He and the Congress Party wishes that this program may help more of the local farmer population, the government understands your suffering, and we are in the long but sure process of rectifying the situation. President Singh is doing all in his power to ensure the continued prosperity of the Indian people, including the request of grain imports from foreign countries, and the expansion of a network of railways built by him during his tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab, the Guru Gobind Singh Marg.
The obtained food has also been redistributed to help the starving in other states. As president, President Singh would like to urge all Indians to help one another in these arduous times, and to support our neighbours, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds. As Gyani, Mr Singh would also urge all Sikhs in Punjab, and in the whole of India, to remember the Sikh values of equality, social justice, service to humanity, and tolerance for other religions and the teachings of Waheguru. As an Indian, Zail Singh wish to remind his countrymen the lyrics of the Indian national anthem: “Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sindhu, Gujarat and Maratha, Of the Dravida and Orissa and Bengal; It echoes in the hills of the Vindhyas and Himalayas, mingles in the music of Jamuna and Ganges and is chanted by the waves of the Indian Sea.” As one united India, we stand.”
- Zail Singh
