The 00-17 was the largest of the all-mahogany Martins of the 1950s, the company's budget 6-string offerings. It's Flattop Friday! But with a 99 year old Koa twist...

1923 Martin Style2 ukulele spotted at @thetwelfthfret, in Toronto Canada. Koa with original cardboard case.

I don't usually get all excited about ukes (like my friend @jinulele does 😉), but when I see any 100 year old Gibson or Martin I am overwhelmed by the sense of history that comes with being in the presence of an instrument that has survived intact for a century or more...and is still playable! Personally, I was lucky to make it to half this uke's age, and I have not been playable since my early 30s! Frankly, I could a professional set up. 😂

Just arrived a 1929, 12 fret Martin 000-28 Flat Top Acoustic Guitar! Link in our profile. - If your fretted tastes run to 12-fret flat tops, then this 1929 000-28 is about as close to the perfect guitar as has ever been made. This model was Martin's largest standard body size at the time, and while it was not the most expensive instrument they offered all models above it were built with pearl trim that raised the price point without necessarily making for a better playing or sounding guitar. After a LONG pause I'm finally doing a #FlattopFriday again! And it was totally worth the wait. . Here is a circa 1870-1880 #Martin 0-28. Yes...this #guitar is around 140 to 150 years old! Light as a feather, with original coffin case, and spotted on my visit to @folkwaymusic last weekend. I love small Martin guitars. #Size0 is the biggest I'd want my #vintageMartin to be. Today we have a spectacular C. F. Martin Flat Top Guitar. It’s a Model 4-40 and was made in Nazareth Pennsylvania circa 1896. - Link in our profile to learn more. - This stunningly beautiful little Faberge egg of a pearl-top Martin is redolent of a time long past, on the surface at least a more civilized era! Now well into the 21st century the 1890's seem far away indeed. Just arrived a clean 1963 Martin 0-18! Link in our profile. - This clean and lovely little Martin 0-18 was built in mid-1963, one of 502 of these 13 9/16" marvels shipped out of Nazareth that year. The mahogany body carries the typical "old style" period features including tortoise celluloid binding on the edges, tortoise celluloid pickguard and long-saddle Brazilian rosewood bridge. All these appointments would be changed before long; like all made prior to 1964, this guitar is the product of the "old" red brick Martin North Street factory.
