V definitely shows love through protection. Since he isn't good with words, he does everything in his power to keep those he cares about safe.

I know L doesn't agree with V eliminating everyone that could be threat, but he does it to keep both her and Cheeky safe. He is terrified of losing the last two people he has.

I spend a lot of time thinking about Cheeky and V, in particular what V would do to someone that hurt Cheeky in the past.

I picture them talking over a few beers when Cheeky kind of opens up about the small amount of things that they remember. They don't talk about their past a lot, hence why V is so invested. They talk about one particular person with a sense of bitterness, which he isn't quite used to from them.

Perhaps they were an ex, friend or even family that hurt them, I'll leave that up for interpretation. Either way, V has to stop himself from asking if someone already shadow exploded said person's head off because Lord knows he wants to.

He spends that night imagining what he would do if they ever ran into them, what he would have done if he was there when it happened. He's almost fantasising about hunting them down and making them pay.

What he knew for sure though, is that he would never let anybody hurt them again.

I imagine Cheeky doesn't talk much about their own past because they ran somewhat off the assumption that V didn't want to hear about it. He's not... Exactly the greatest with that stuff and they learned about things mostly through L from their talks about their shared childhood.

... So when they do open up, maybe because it's just a late night. Just one moment of quiet where they felt safe enough to divulge without the use of mind reading.

But I definitely can imagine his twisted feelings about it too, where he's angry on their behalf if they've been wronged in anyway.

V out of anyone knows the world is unfair, but Cheeky being a genuine force for good that was just... So kind in their life before mixing up with him... The thought that someone could consciously mistreat them or hurt them.

Just makes his blood boil.

Of course, we can't ignore he's physically hurt Cheeky before. It was to punctuate that at the end of the day, he's still capable of harm and hurt.

... But the biggest difference is that he did it to prove a point, that he's a villain with an agenda and power in spades.

God help the poor soul that maliciously and intentionally harmed Cheeky in any form.

Awww, okay, okay.

I can imagine it post confession.

Just... Cheeky dancing alone to the radio before he slides up behind them. Pressing his face into the side of their neck, humming lowly with the radio.

Hand slipping under the edge of their shirt to rub their hip; mostly for the skin to skin contact.

I mean, I guess it's not enough that he's not wearing a shirt but hey, he just wants this intimate moment with his partner - sue him. One of his hands move to lace through their's before he starts to sing with the music.

Yes, he starts kissing up the side of their neck, feeling them shiver at the feeling. He's smiling so much, and just squeezed them closer.

(now I'm imagining married domestic life with him and ughhh, I know he's probably not the married type but I know not everyone is interested but I guess I just like the ceremony but AHhhhHHH -)

Gohan is such a good example of what it would be like! He would absolutely lose his shit. I think the scene from Shadow & Bone where the Darkling creates the fold is also a good example

At first he'd be staring in disbelief as Cheeky drops dead to the floor, Atrocity laughing while covered in their blood before dissappearing again. V drops to his knees next to Cheeky, putting pressure on their bloody neck to no avail.

A part of him is waiting for them to open their eyes to make some kind of joke. "So this is what it takes to get you on your knees, huh?" He chuckles at the thought before reality starts to set in. They're dead.

He moves his now bloody hand from their neck to their cheek, gently caressing it with this thumb. "Cheeky, darling?" He whispers, his teary eyes darting over their pale face. He needed them to answer, to look at him at the very least. But they didn't. Of course they didn't, they're dead.

He leans down to lean his forehead against theirs, tears falling from his eyes onto their pale face. "I'm sorry." He places a soft kiss on their forehead before looking up at the sky, letting out a painful scream while unleashing a darkness so powerful it'll destroy everything in it's path.

Atrocity got what he wanted, a miserable V with nothing to lose. The villain he needed for his own sick game of cat and mouse.

V was unable to save another part of his family, broken his promises to keep them safe. He had nobody to keep him sane now and the world was going to suffer the consequences.

I can't really think of any songs rn but I'll let y'all know if anything comes to mind... But this whole thing is so beautiful and exactly what I'd imagine would happen.

V refuses to allow anything else to happen to Cheeky's body, unable to hold on to any semblance of anything if Atrocity came back to mangle what's left of their corpse.

His arms and body were radiating in his dark magic, pouring from every part of him so powerfully... But he cradles their limp body so gently in his arms. It was a sight.

He can only think about so many things with his fractured thoughts but one thing in common.

He broke his promise to Cheeky.

Cheeky is dead.

He's covered in Cheeky's blood.

Cheeky's burial.

He kisses their head, body trembling with his sobs.

Atrocity reappears, cackling, just to taunt him, "Oh how sweet darkling, you finally figure out you care?"

V doesn't react, holding their body to his chest. Shadows moving across them and cleaning what he could.

Atrocity kept goading him, eating up the despair and sadness that clearly permeated from him...

Cheeky's body is wrapped in magic and then... Gone. Somewhere safe, far from the battle. Maybe the gravesite where the kids were.

V presses some sort of trinket or gift they gave him to his lips briefly, before he starts to... Hum? A light tune, maybe Cheeky's favorite song or even the music starting to swell for the eventual battle ahead.

Atrocity it just watching then, smiling in anticipation.

But eventually, the tears dry up and Atroc is taken aback by cold front of emotions. There was no more feeling.

V lifts his head, looking less like man and more like the thing of nightmares.

"Hey, Count Twatula..."

Another explosion of magic, one th hat makes even Atrocity step back.

"Let's dance."

I feel like V really needs someone like Cheeky in his life. Someone he can be vulnerable around without judgement and who shows nothing but care. I don't think he knows how to deal with it tho

Honestly, I think we all agree on that front... He's been through so much and finding someone that can help him process that trauma and fix his relationship with his past and emotions???

It's probably real cathartic for him to be completely able to show this softer part of him.

... Just knowing they care about him is enough to knock him off kilter.

Like, just the video having them hold him just explains exactly how he feels about soft feelings and letting go in that sense.

Him getting so defensive about being called pretty might be because he wants to be perceived as threat. Being called pretty doesn't exactly make him sound intimidating

Perhaps Anima always called him pretty boy and that plays a role as in why he's so uncomfortable with it? Idk, I might be looking too much into that

He really is a pretty boy tho, even with his evolution

I feel like you might be onto something there, though more the first point as we do have some canonical proof about that from dialogue!

Specifically in the midst of a conversation between V, Alpha, and Scythe! Where Scythe had threatened V to behave otherwise he was going to have Lauren draw him in a maid dress.

V made it sound like he couldn't be scary and fabulous at the same time. (Meanwhile with Alpha serving both). So that might be the case! He's sick of not being taken seriously as a whole.

... And yes, even with the shift - he's still real pretty.
