Figured id do a update! Been going to the gym since July! Start weight was 145 current weight is 132. Didnt get a photo in the beginning of my weight training adventure, so last photo is me in my first 3 weeks (august 2021) and first 4 is me currently (March 2022) Ive seen such a change! feelling alot more comfortable in my skin, i feel stronger. Its really nice to have clothes i never thought id get to wear again actually fit me. In the beginning i was all about loosing weight but now its not about that. I just wanna be in better shape and health. I used to stress over the number on my scale. But not anymore. Ive lost the fat i wanted to loose and now and working on Toning myself out. It not about being skinny its about being healthy! Lowest weight ive ever been is 119 and that was 3 years ago i look at those photos and i just didnt look healthy. I was outta shape, got exhausted over everything and ate just terrible, and just wasnt happy. I got to the 4/5 days a week. Weight train then cardio after. 12/3/30 has been a great for cardio training! Summer is finally upon us. It is a refreshing break from reality, that many of us have been dreaming about for awhile now. This time of year, marks a heathy transition, from chaos to a sudden pause; you now have the profound ability to appreciate longer days and shorter nights filled with sun and nothing but time. Summer brings good vibes and tan lines. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Create memories. Stay up all night with your friends. Make bad decisions, they lead to good stories. Forget what day of the week it is. And most importantly be subconsciously carefree, wear your swimsuit all day if that’s what you want.

Summer has the potential to bring us expectations just like other season. However, these expectations may be drastically different then achieving a certain grade point average during your first two semesters of university, while still maintaining a social life, getting a sufficient amount of sleep, having heathy eating habits, sticking to an exercise ritual and staying sane. These expectations are feeling self-assured in your own skin during this time of year. Just like any aspect of life, it takes time to become comfortable with one’s self, to love every inch of your body, despite what society believes is beautiful.

I credit being adequate in your own skin starts with the clothing choices you decide upon. Ultimately, being uncomfortable in the clothes you place on your body can adversely affect how you feel in your skin; it can make or break your aura, energy, and self-assurance. It is no secret that we feel our best when we are sporting a look we love. which is why I have teamed up with Vitae Apparel and I had the opportunity to ask the dying questions everyone seems to have about the company.

Vitae Apparel is a Canadian lifestyle brand, who’s message is heard loud and clear by promoting a heathy lifestyle within their company. Vitae Apparel is changing the game with one bikini at a time, or as they refer to them kini’s. Functionality is what they pride themselves on, yes, they are adorable, minimal, fashionable, sporty and aesthetically pleasing; however, the design is targeted to stay on your body. Being an aqua babe is that much easier with Vitae Apparel this summer, so go online, order a new kini, and you will be hitting the pool/beach in no time, along side a mimosa and a trendy pair of sunnies… I recommend the Ray-Ban Round Gold Metal Green Classic G-15 non-polarized. These sunnies are totally retro, below I have some pictures of me sporting them!

Q: Who is the creator of the company? Tell me a bit about yourself.

A: The creator of the company is me, Selene Dior. I was a competitive swimmer for 16 years, and was 18 when I started the company. I always loved swimming and was a beach baby, and one day I decided to design my own swimwear.

Q: What inspired the creation of Vitae Apparel? Please speak about the process and initial vision for the company when starting off? In terms of progress, do you think Vitae Apparel has developed over time and what are your hopes for the future?

A: I work at a pool and often see girls’ bathing suits coming off after doing a dive off the diving boards or coming down from the water slides so I decided to design something fashionable and that stays on. When starting VITAE ( vee-tahy) I wanted girls to be able to do more and be themselves in our swimwear. Girls should be able to feel comfortable when they are sunbathing and not worry that their bathing suits will fall off when they do activities in them. VITAE APPAREL has grown so much and so fast in only 6 months. We hope to expand VITAE into clothing as well in the near future. We believe that what VITAE stands for will bring more girls into believing themselves and be confident in or out of our swimsuits.

Q: What is the meaning behind the name Vitae Apparel? How was it created?

A: VITAE means “Life” in latin. We wanted to create something unique, something that will make you feel comfortable and make you feel alive in and “life” represents exactly what we wanted our swimsuits to be. Latin is one of the oldest languages, and to live life is to be happy, to be comfortable, and to be lively.

Q: Your intention behind these swimsuits were for them to stay put on the body they are placed on “a kin that stays on you”, do you think this choice has differentiated you and other brands that are creating bathing suits for aesthetic purposes rather then functionality?

A: Yes, this intention has definitely brought a lot of customers that are more sporty and more active such as surfers and swimmers. We wanted our swimsuits not only to be aesthetically pleasing but also practical. And frankly, I think we did it!

Q: What do you keep in mind when designing Vitae Apparel, beside minimalism, fashionable, sporty, and active swimsuits? How often do you release new pieces? What material do you use to create your swimsuits? Please elaborate on the ties at your waist?

A: When designing VITAE, we also think about the cut outs and tan lines. We want it to e comfortable for anyone that wears a VITAE swimsuit. We often release new pieces every 2-3 months. Summer will be more frequent. We use polyester as it is more durable and it is more breathable. The ties at the middle back of your waist helps you keep you bottoms on, and you can adjust them to be tighter to your pleasing.

Q: Vitae Apparel stands for heathy lifestyles and encourages the girls who wear the bathing suits to be confident. How do you perceive that this is different from other brands creating swimwear?

A: We encourage all girls to love themselves for who they are. No matter what their ethnicity or body shape is, we have larger sizes that fit all girl’s body type and all our models are regular people. Other brands hire super models, or the typical skinny tanned looking girls, but customers are regular girls and that is what we target and stand for.

Q: Vitae Apparel is based out of Vancouver, many of the models and faces for the brand are representative of the average teenage girl. What do you believe this shows as a brand? How do you choose your models?

A: We want our customers to see what our swimsuits look like in regular girls, therefore they can feel related and more comfortable in purchasing our swimsuits. Again, we want to keep things real, and non of these pictures are photoshopped. We want our customers to be happy and confident in our swimsuits just like our models. When we choose our models, the biggest factor is confidence and personality. Personality is key, even though they are photos but it shows that the models have a strong personality and that is what we are looking for when choosing models. We want girls that know how to present themselves and stand out.

Q: Social media platforms are critical for an online company. How do you ensure your product reaches your audience and what actions are you taking to ensure this happens?

A: We reach out to people, follow people first from all over the world.

Q: What tips do you have for aqua babes this summer in order to feel bikini ready and self-confident when hitting the pool or beach?

A: First of all, SUN SMART:) and you do not need to feel the need to have a summer body, body is body, whatever your body looks like we hope our aqua babes love themselves as much as they love our swimsuits.

Q: What breakthroughs have Vitae Apparel made so far? Your company was featured in Vogue Uk’s May 2017 issue and Vancouver’s Swimwear Fashion Show, what did this mean to you as a company?

A: VITAE APPAREL was contacted by VOGUE UK and several other magazines. It is a big achievement to be in a world wide known magazine. It is even crazier to be a part of the fashion show in Vancouver! This is definitely a big mile stone that we have achieved in such a short period of time and we look forward to having more big events.

Q: What sort of beach or pool activities do you see Vitae Apparel suitable for?

A: Anywhere from sun bathing to surfing. VITAE is great for all kinds of activities.

Q: Do you envision Vitae Apparel selling any other type of products in the future? Beach/pool towels, bathing suit cover ups, photo worthy flotation devices, beach/pool bags, sunnies, or proper footwear from the beach/pool? Or is Vitae Apparel going to be strictly bathing suits?

A: We do plan on making unique summer dresses, clubbing dress, hoodies, workout clothing etc.

Q: What are your tips on shooting amazing photographs of the bikini’s and the detailing it has?

A: Make sure you catch the details! Side cut, back cut, when posing don’t cover the details. SMILE!:)

Q: What extravagant getaways has Vitae Apparel been apart of for photo shoots?

A: We give out opportunities as we always do shoutouts for photographers. We also get a lot of messages from photographers that would want to collaborate with us so we give them opportunities as well!
